2 JOB DESCRIPTION FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT Hours: Full or part time hours, full time hours are 37.5 hours per week Responsible to: Senior Financial Accountant The Role: To be responsible for the day to day management of the Financial Reporting Team and to produce accounts and management/financial information to support the Executive team, Trustees, Senior Financial Accountant and Finance Manager. Main Duties 1. To prepare monthly management accounts and management information reports. 2. To oversee month end procedures to ensure that they are in line with best practice and that month-end reporting deadlines are met 3. To ensure that balance sheet accounts and bank accounts are properly reconciled on a monthly basis 4. To produce annual cash flow forecasts, and to review against actual performance on a monthly basis 5. To work with the Chief Executive and Executive Management Team to produce an annual budget for the organisation, to review against actual performance, and to work with the Finance team to identify areas for performance improvement 6. To contribute to the reporting of KPIs, value for money analysis, competitor analysis and benchmarking 7. To work with the Senior Financial Accountant on the timetabling and implementation of the external audit process 8. To produce annual group accounts 9. To prepare reports for our bankers in the agreed format 10. To maintain the register of assets and ensure that depreciation is properly accounted for in line with agreed policies under component accounting as required by the Housing SORP 11. To attend and report to meetings of the Executive team, Trustees and Finance sub-committee as required. 12. To complete regulatory and statutory returns and surveys 13. To prepare and file accounts for linked social enterprises Page 2 of 6

3 14. To represent the finance department in agency risk reviews and business planning 15. To remain up to date with changes in accountancy standards 16. To maintain an overview of taxation and VAT in order to highlight any issues that impact on the organisation 17. To supervise, coach and mentor junior team members, ensuring that they undertake a sufficiently challenging and diverse workload to support their professional development. Other 18. To travel as required to all sites 19. To carry out all work in a manner consistent with the aims of the project and the service principles adopted by Creative Support. 20. To observe any written policies, procedures and guidelines for good practice agreed by Creative Support. 24. 5 TERMS AND CONDITIONS FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT Salary: Up to 39,000 per annum. The starting salary will depend on the successful applicant s current salary, qualifications and experience. Point One: Point Two: 35,000 per annum 36,000 per annum Point Three: 37,500 per annum Point Four: 39,000 per annum Hours of Work: Full or part time hours, full time hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Normal hours of work are 9am till 5pm to be worked flexibly dependent upon the requirements of the organisation and the department. DBS Checks: Employment will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks and SOVA checks. Probationary Period: The first six months will constitute a probationary period. When this is successfully completed, employment will be confirmed. Your performance due in probationary period will be assessed against the job description, person specification and competency framework of this role Holidays: 30 days plus 8 statutory days pro rata. Sickness Policy: Creative Support operates a discretionary company sick pay benefit scheme which is for the purposes of preventing hardship during times of serious illness. The eligibility criteria and conditions for payment of Company Sick Pay (inclusive of SSP) are shown in the Employee Handbook. You may be eligible for Company Sick Pay benefits subject to compliance with these criteria as follows:- Creative Support do not pay for the first three days of any sickness absence. First six months service - Not eligible for Company Sick Pay though you may be entitled to SSP. Six months to eighteen months service - Up to a maximum of four weeks at full pay. Eighteen months plus service - Up to a maximum of eight weeks at full pay followed by four weeks at half pay. Part time employees will receive Company Sick Pay benefits as detailed above but pro rata to actual hours worked each week. Company Sick Pay benefits may be withdrawn or temporarily suspended where performance or attendance is unsatisfactory. Page 5 of 6

6 Pension: Creative Support operates an auto-enrolment pension scheme with the People s Pension. Life Assurance: All staff under Creative Support contract are entitled to free life assurance. This is a valuable benefit which provides a lump sum equal to four times annual salary. Discretionary Benefits: Creative Support offers discretionary benefits in addition to statutory benefits. These include: Paid paternity leave Enhanced maternity leave Compassionate leave Carers leave up to 5 days per annum Employee Counselling Service: All staff, their partners and members of their household have access to an independent confidential, 24 hour telephone counselling service and to legal and financial advice. In addition, up to 6 sessions of face to face counselling can be obtained. This service is delivered by professionally qualified and supervised counsellors and is provided free of charge Hospital Saturday Fund: All employees have access to a special scheme which enables membership of the Hospital Saturday Fund on preferential rates. There are a choice of packages offering different levels of service. Membership is entirely voluntary. Staff Benefits Scheme: As a member of staff for Creative Support you will be entitled to access a range of on-line benefits for various activities and high street stores.
