1 Calling Feature Instructions Digital Phone By Telephone Digital Phone Feature Management By Telephone Instructions This document describes how to manage Digital Phone features using your telephone keypad. Note that many features can also be managed online using the Digital Phone Manager. 6-Way Calling Anonymous Call Rejection Automatic Recall Call Forwarding: o All Calls o Busy o No Answer Call Waiting Caller ID o Blocking o On Call Waiting Do Not Disturb Remote Access Selective Call Acceptance Selective Call Forwarding Selective Call Rejection Speed Calling 8 Remote Access With Remote Access you can activate features from any phone. Note: Remote Access is not available from your own phone because it is not necessary. From your own phone, you already have access to manage features. Using Remote Access: 1. Dial to connect to Remote Access. 2. Enter your 10-digit phone number followed by the # key. 3. Enter your Remote Access PIN followed by the # key. Note: Use the star commands listed on this page, but be sure to press the # key after each command. The # key is always required after each star command when connected via Remote Access. Example: To activate Call Forward All Calls (Forward All Calls To), press *72 followed by the # key. 6-Way Calling These features allow you to enjoy the convenience of communicating with up to five people at different locations all at the same time! 1. Dial the first party. When answered, announce that the call will be conferenced. 2. Press the Flash key and dial the second party. When answered, announce that the call will be conferenced.
2 Note: Some phone models have a different name for the Flash key. 3. Press the Flash key to connect all present parties. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add additional parties to your call. Notes: If you reach a busy signal when trying to add a party, press the Flash key and the busy signal call will drop. If you reach voice mail or a phone number referral when trying to add a party, press the Flash key (1-2 times) and you will be prompted, "To add another call press 0; to drop the last call press 1". Anonymous Call Rejection If you subscribe to Caller ID, it is because you want to see the identity of the calling party. However, some people choose to block the identity of their number. Now you can choose not to receive calls from unidentified callers. Anonymous Call Rejection routes calls from blocked numbers to a recorded announcement advising the caller that you do not accept anonymous calls. 1. Press *77. You will hear a recorded message indicating that the feature is activated. Callers who have blocked the identity of their telephone number will receive this recording: "The party you are dialing is not accepting calls from unidentified callers. To unblock your line identity, hang up and redial using *82 before the telephone number." Callers will not be billed for the call; they can hang up and dial *82 to unblock their telephone number before calling you. 1. Press *87. You will hear a recorded message indicating that the feature is deactivated. Automatic Recall Automatic Recall is ideal for anyone who has difficulty getting to the phone while it s ringing. When you miss a call, just dial a simple code. The number of the last person who called will be given to you via a recording. An option to automatically dial the number is also given. 1. Press * 69. You will hear a recorded message stating the last incoming number. 2. Press 1 to automatically dial this number. Call Forwarding All Calls (Forward All Calls To:) Don t miss calls when you leave your home or office. Call Forwarding Variable lets you forward all incoming calls to another number. You select where your calls forward each time you activate the feature.
3 Note: When Call Forwarding Variable is on, Call Forwarding Busy and Call Forwarding No Answer do not apply. 1. Press * Enter the 7- or 11-digit number that you want to forward to. You will hear a recorded message indicating the number that calls will be forwarded to. 1. Press *73. You will hear a recorded message indicating that the feature is off. Call Forwarding Busy (Forward Calls When Busy To:) Don t miss calls when you re on the phone. Call Forwarding Busy Variable lets you forward all incoming calls that receive a busy signal to another number. You can change the forward to number as needed and turn the feature on/off. 1. Press * Enter the 7- or 11-digit number that you want to forward to. You will hear a recorded message indicating the number that calls will be forwarded to. 1. Press *98. You will hear a recorded message indicating that the feature is off. Call Forwarding No Answer (Forward Unanswered Calls To:) Don t miss calls when you are unable to answer your phone. Calls not answered in approximately 4 rings will be forwarded to the number of your choice. You can change the forward to number as needed and turn the feature on/off. 1. Press * Enter the 7- or 11-digit number that you want to forward to. You will hear a recorded message indicating the number that calls will be forwarded to. 1. Press *93. You will hear a recorded message indicating that feature is off. Call Waiting To Activate for One Call Only 1. Press *70.
4 Note: Use of the *70 command assumes that Call Waiting is deactivated (turned off). To Activate for All Calls Use the Digital Phone Manager. To Deactivate for All Calls Use the Digital Phone Manager. Caller ID Have you ever answered the phone or your call waiting only to regret it, or worse, regretted not answering? Caller ID and Caller ID on Call Waiting let you see who is calling so you can choose what calls to answer, whom to speak with, and when. Caller ID display devices (sold separately) keep a record of each call, including the calling party s number, name, and the date and time of the call. Caller ID Blocking This feature allows you to block (conceal) or unblock (reveal) the telephone number you are calling from on a per call basis. To Block Your Number 1. Dial *67 before placing your call. To Unblock Your Number 1. Dial *82 before placing your call. Caller ID on Call Waiting Caller ID on Call Waiting will generate a distinctive call waiting tone. The telephone number will appear on your display screen and you may choose to answer the call. If not, you can still retrieve the phone number from the memory list on the display unit. (Caller ID units are sold separately.) To Answer a Second Call: A Call Waiting tone lets you know that a second person is calling you. The party calling will hear the usual ringing signal. After 30 seconds, you will hear another tone as a reminder. If you want to end the first call, let the first party hang up, and then press the Flash key. Note: Some phone models have a different name for the Flash key. If you want the first party to hold, press Flash. This will connect you to the second call. You can alternate between the two calls by pressing Flash, holding completely private conversations with each party. Do Not Disturb Are you often too busy to be interrupted by phone calls? Would you like to have a Do Not Disturb sign on your phone? This feature provides you with all the quiet time you need. To Activate Do Not Disturb: 1. Press *78. Callers will normally hear a busy signal when this feature is activated. To Deactivate Do Not Disturb: 1. Press *79. You will now receive calls as usual.
