If a number on your Call Block list is not the main number for a caller s RingMaster service, calls from that number will not be blocked. Call Block will not block calls from wireless telephones, most coin telephones, or operatorassisted calls, and may not work if the incoming call is from a telephone number in a multi-line hunt group.

3 Call Forwarding All Calls 72# to answer your calls on your wireless or another phone Once on, it stays active until you turn it off Calls are forwarded until you re ready to take them on your regular phone Make outgoing calls as you normally do even when incoming calls are forwarded Turn on Call Forwarding Press 7 2 #, then after the dial tone, dial the forward-to number. If the phone is answered, Call Forwarding is on. (If the phone isn t answered immediately, go through the steps again and when you hear short tones, Call Forwarding is on.) Turn off Call Forwarding Press 7 3 # (at dial tone). When you hear short tones, Call Forwarding is off. On a rotary or dial pulse telephone, omit #. If calls are forwarded to a number outside your local calling area, usage or long distance charges may apply to your account, not your caller s. If calls are forwarded to a number with BellSouth Voice Mail, you may need to change your greeting. Did you know? You may hear a short ring alerting you that a call has been forwarded. You will not be able to answer it, as it has been forwarded to the number you have designated. Call Forwarding Don t Answer Ring Control Control how many times your phone will ring before calls are forwarded Set the number of rings from two to nine Callers are sent to the number you specified Assign a co-worker to answer incoming calls when you re in a meeting Change the number of rings Press In some areas, you will enter the number of rings that you want any number from 2-9. In other areas, you will enter a code that represents the number of rings you want. See the table below for these codes. Rings Code When you hear the dial tone after the short tones, hang up the number of rings has been changed. Hint: If you subscribe to Call Waiting, changing the number of rings also changes the length of time before a waiting call is forwarded. Your caller may hear an extra ring due to connection timing.

6 Call Forwarding Remote Access Redirect business calls from a remote location Once on, it stays active until you turn it off Calls are forwarded until you re ready to take them on your regular phone Make outgoing calls as you normally do even when incoming calls are forwarded Quick-Start Directions Forward your calls from any touch-tone telephone. 1. Dial your special access number refer to your order confirmation letter for number. 2. Dial your 7- or 10-digit telephone number. 3. Dial your PIN followed by # refer to your order confirmation letter for PIN. 4. Press 7 2 #. (In some areas, you will be prompted to press 1 to confirm.) 1 5. Dial the forward-to number, including 1 + area code if needed, followed by #. 6. Follow the voice instructions to confirm or change the forward-to number. 1 In some areas, you will not be prompted to press 1 to confirm. In these areas, if the party to whom you re forwarding your calls answers the call, your calls are forwarded. If the call is not answered, you will need to repeat steps 1-6. When you repeat the steps and hear confirming tones, your calls have been forwarded. Turn off Call Forwarding remotely Dial your special access number refer to your order confirmation letter for number. Dial your 7- or 10-digit telephone number. Dial your PIN followed by # refer to your order confirmation letter for PIN. Press 7 3 #. (In some areas, you re required to press 1 to confirm.) Forward calls from Press 7 2 #, then after the second dial tone, dial the forward-to your own phone number. If the phone is answered, Call Forwarding is on. (If the phone isn t answered, go through the steps again and when you hear short tones, Call Forwarding is on.) Turn off Call Forwarding from Press 7 3 #. When you hear short tones, Call Forwarding your own phone is cancelled. If you forget or lose your PIN, call the BellSouth Service Center. For your protection, the new PIN will be mailed to you. To change calls from one forward-to number to another, first cancel Call Forwarding. Then forward calls to new destination. If you make an error when you re using Remote Access, you may be disconnected. Simply hang up, call back, and try again. Note: If a call is forwarded to a number outside your local calling area, usage or long-distance charges may apply to your account, not your caller s.

7 BellSouth Complete Choice for Business plan Call Return 69 to find out who last called you Stores the number of the last person who called Automatically dials the number for you Identifies callers who do not leave a message Use Call Return Press 6 9. (The phone number, date, and time of the last incoming call are announced.) Return the call Press 1 (or hang up if you do not want to return the call). Turn off Call Return Press 8 9. After the announcement, hang up. If the other phone is busy, you ll hear an announcement. Call Return tries the number for up to 30 minutes and you re still able to make and receive other calls. When your call is ready, you ll receive a special short-short-long ring on your line. Just answer your phone, and the other phone rings to complete your call. A Call Return request can be initiated for more than one telephone number at the same time. Did you know? Call Return will not return calls that are marked private. You ll get a fast busy signal or an announcement if Call Return can t return a call for any reason. And, if calls are returned to a number outside your local calling area, usage or long distance charges may apply to your account.

9 Call Tracing Continued... Trace a call Press instantly after receiving the call, and listen to the voice instructions. Plus, write down the date and time you received the call. In an emergency, call your local law enforcement agency immediately. Contact your local law enforcement agency for further investigation. It s not necessary to contact the BellSouth Annoyance Call Center (ACC). The ACC does not take deterrent action on your behalf. However, we will release your trace information to your law enforcement agency for investigation. You may have your law enforcement agency contact the ACC for further information. To contact the ACC, go to contact.bellsouth.com/acc or call Then identify yourself as a Call Tracing customer. You can use Call Return before or after you use Call Tracing. 1 On a rotary phone, dial Call Waiting BellSouth Complete Choice for Business plan Find out when an important business call comes in when you re already on the line A short tone announces new call Put current call on hold, end your original call, or simply ignore the waiting call In some areas, your phone rings if you disconnect while someone is on hold End original call, and answer waiting call Place original call on hold, answer waiting call Hang up when the phone rings, answer the new call. Hit your flash key or your phone s switchhook. Repeat to swap calls again. Both calls remain private. Turn off Call Waiting prior to Press 7 0 after dial tone. 10 Caller ID options Caller ID with Name and Number Delivery, or just Number Delivery Know which customer or vendor is calling before picking up the phone Answer the calls you want, ignore the ones you don t wish to answer Logs all of your incoming calls Added peace of mind knowing you re not getting interrupted during important meetings Use Caller ID Wait for one full ring of your incoming call then check your Caller ID unit for name and phone number. If your Caller ID unit displays messages or symbols you don t understand, check the owner s manual provided with your equipment. If your caller is using a privacy feature, the name and number may not be displayed. BellSouth public or semi-public telephones will display the words pay phone, but business-owned pay phones may display the name of the business. If a telephone number is new and not yet in the BellSouth database, the display shows the number but not the name. If you have Call Waiting, Caller ID doesn t display information for any calls that come through when you re on the phone, unless you also subscribe to Enhanced Caller ID. Caller ID works only for direct-dialed calls between phone lines that have the service capability and between central offices that can transmit Caller ID information. The name displayed is based on the listing in the BellSouth database. Note: Caller ID Number Delivery gives you all of the above features with the exception of viewing the caller s name. Caller ID Name and Number Delivery with Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) (if available) All the benefits of Caller ID, plus the ability to block unidentified callers Avoid calls from people Turn on Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) by pressing not identified ACR stays on until you turn it off. Callers hear a message telling them to hang up, unblock delivery of their phone number and call again. (Note: ACR only works for private or blocked callers, not those who are unknown or unavailable.) 13 BellSouth Complete Choice for Business plan Repeat Dialing 66 to redial automatically when you get a busy signal Repeat Dialing tries the busy number for up to 30 minutes When the line s free, you ll hear a special short-short-long ring Pick up your phone and treat the call as if you just dialed the person Turn on Repeat Dialing Hang up when you hear a busy signal. Pick up and press 6 6 at (Initiate Request) dial tone. Turn off Repeat Dialing Press and listen for announcement. (Cancel Request) Hint: If calls are dialed to a number outside your local calling area, usage or long distance charges may apply. Did you know? Repeat Dialing works for more than one busy number at a time and signals you when one is free (however, you won t know which number it is until you answer). 1 On a rotary phone, dial 1166 to turn on Repeat Dialing; dial 1186 to turn off Repeat Dialing.

14 BellSouth RingMaster Service Know who s calling with a distinctive ring tone Designate a unique ring tone for incoming calls Main number one long ring 1st RingMaster number two short rings 2nd RingMaster number short-long-short ring Your BellSouth representative assigns up to two RingMaster numbers for every one of your main numbers Ability to separate business calls from personal calls RingMaster telephone numbers share one line but it s easy to tell which number is ringing by a special ring pattern Hint: If you subscribe to Call Waiting, you will hear the same difference in call waiting tones. Wait until you hear a complete ring pattern before you answer. One subscription to Call Forwarding serves both your main and RingMaster telephone numbers either forward all numbers to the same telephone number (available in certain areas) or forward the main number only (your RingMaster numbers ring through as usual). Distinctive ringing is heard only at your end the ring sounds normal to your caller. Distinctive ringing is not heard on forwarded calls. Directory listings are provided free of charge for your main and RingMaster numbers. To report a problem, give BellSouth repair service the main telephone number no matter which number is having trouble. Turn any special features on and off in the usual way. Although you have more than one telephone number, you still have only one line and one conversation. If you have BellSouth Voice Mail, the main number and RingMaster numbers share a messaging mailbox. If you add the Submailbox feature, the caller can leave messages for individuals. Speed Calling 30 Assign a convenient 2-digit code for up to 30 numbers Save time just dial your stored numbers using an easy-to-remember 2-digit code Store up to 30 telephone numbers Program your primary contacts such as your top clients and vendors Record/change your Press 7 5 #. speed calling numbers After the second dial tone, dial a speed calling code (20 49). Dial a phone number to designate for that particular code. Include 1+ area code (if necessary). The number is stored when you hear short tones. (If you don t get confirming tones, go through the steps again and when you hear short tones, the code has been assigned.) Speed dial a call At dial tone, press the two-digit speed calling code followed by #. Hint: On a rotary or dial pulse telephone, omit #.

Dial a phone number to designate for that particular code. Include 1+ area code (if necessary). The number is stored when you hear short tones. BellSouth Complete Choice for Business plan Star 98 Access 98 to open to your voice mailbox instantly (requires BellSouth Voice Mail Service for Business) Press 9 8 and you re immediately connected to your voice mailbox 1 Must dial from the telephone number to which the voice mail service is connected Access both new and saved messages Hint: If you dial 98 to access your mailbox and get a message requesting your mailbox number and password/passcode, the voice mail number identification link may be temporarily out of order. If the link is down and you provide your mailbox number and password/passcode, you can retrieve messages. Otherwise, please try again later. Did you know? Star 98 Access cannot connect you directly to your voice mailbox if you have a privacy feature on your telephone line that blocks delivery of your name and number. Just dial 8 2 to turn off the privacy feature, then 9 8 to gain easy access to your mailbox. 1 In some areas, Star 98 Access cannot be programmed as a Speed Calling entry and may not be compatible with BellSouth BusyConnect service and Repeat Dialing. This feature is not compatible with BellSouth Centrex Service.

16 Three-Way Calling Conference with two different business associates at the same time Initiate Three-Way Calling Connect all three lines End a Three-Way Call Press your flash key or your phone s switchhook to place your first call on hold. At the dial tone, dial the second person (you may talk privately with the second person while original call is on hold). If you get a busy signal or no answer on your second call, just click the flash key or switchhook twice to continue your original call. Press your flash key or your phone s switchhook again. To drop one party, just press the switchhook on your phone once. Or, anyone on the call can simply hang up, leaving the other two connected. Hint: If calls are not local, long distance or expanded local calling rates may apply for Three-Way Calling feature. Did you know? If you re on a Three-Way Call and you have Call Waiting, you won t hear a Call Waiting tone when another call comes in. Instead, the new caller hears a busy signal, or the call may be forwarded if you have Call Forwarding Busy Line. Three-Way Calling with Transfer Transfer an incoming call to another line, or add another person to a call in progress Transfer an incoming call to another line Initiate Three-Way Calling With the original call on the line, click the switchhook and listen for short tones. At the dial tone, dial the transfer-to number. 1. To transfer the call without announcing the transfer, hang up before the other phone is answered. 2. To talk to the other person before completing the transfer, stay on the line, announce the transfer, then hang up. 3. If the number is busy or there is no answer, click the switchhook twice to be reconnected to the original call. Press your flash key or your phone s switchhook to place your first call on hold. At the dial tone, dial the second person (you may talk privately with the second person while original call is on hold). If you get a busy signal or no answer on your second call, just click the flash key or switchhook twice to continue your original call. (continued on next page)
