EDUCATIONAL NEED This course is designed to change physician competence regarding the criteria for diagnosing ultrasound abnormalities. Course participants evaluations and community physician annual needs assessment surveys have identified the need for cutting edge information about obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. Also, newer techniques have recently been introduced, including contrast-enhanced ultrasound, and ultrasound elastography in which there is a need for a better understanding. Topics to be presented will be sonographic evaluation of first-trimester congenital abnormalities and fetal syndromes that are encountered in ultrasound. In addition, specific anomalies including fetal CNS anomalies and fetal cardiac abnormalities will be reviewed. An update for evaluating and treatment of non-immune hydrops will be presented to the audience. Newer applications of ultrasound, including 3D ultrasound applications and gynecological and obstetrical will be presented to the audience. Other topics to be presented would be newer applications of ultrasound, including contrastenhanced ultrasound, vascular carotid ultrasound, renal transplant Doppler and venous ultrasound. This year s course will specifically address the identified educational needs and provide practitioners with state-of-the-art tools and provide improved treatment options for their patients. The faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES At the end of the activity, participants should be able to: Interpret the utility of 3-D ultrasound in the evaluation of the fetal face Interpret the utility of 3-D ultrasound in the evaluation of the obstetrics and gynecology Outline an update on newer applications of fetal surgery for fetuses with non-immune hydrops Explain the ultrasound clues for practitioners to help better detect pregnancy complications in the first trimester Identify the sonographic findings that are most commonly encountered with fetal cardiac abnormalities List ultrasound features of specific cerebral malformations Discuss Doppler evaluation of transplants Recognize certain pitfalls that may be encountered in either obstetrical or gynecological ultrasound Apply the use of Doppler in carotid arterial imaging. EARN 1 Self-Assessment CME (SA-CME) The American Board of Radiology (ABR) requires Radiologists to have a minimum of 25 of the 75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits be Self Assessment credits (required every 3 years). An opportunity for the completion of 1 Self-Assessment CME (SA-CME) will be offered during this course. Credit is pending approval by the American Board of Radiology in meeting the criteria for self-assessment toward the purpose of fulfilling requirements in the ABR Maintenance of Certification Program. AMA PRA Category 1 Credits acceptable for other healthcare providers Nurse: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. For the purpose of relicensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits (report 11 hours of credit and fill in CME Category 1 for the provider number). Physician Assistant: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credits are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.
