The project offers international buyers a preferential channel to meet and develop business with member companies. The team s assistance is completely free of charge. It ascertains buyers needs, upon request it suggests possible suppliers and arranges one-to-one meetings in Torino or on one s premises. The companies selected by Torino Piemonte Aerospace respond to strict parameters of evaluation: technical know-how, innovative products and processes, quality, programme development, global coverage, human resources potential and team work ability. The resulting group represents all fields of production: aircraft manufacturing, components & mechanics, plants & machineries, systems & subsystems, special metalworking, defence vehicles and systems, components of electrical systems for aircrafts and satellites, test and control equipment, engineering, prototyping, software creation and consultancy. Among its activities, Torino Piemonte Aerospace carries out important participations in worldwide events and constantly plans marketing activities of great relevance: trade missions, air shows, international B2B events to connect demand and supply. Buyers and technical experts from international companies are invited to Torino to visit the project s companies, research centres and universities, to discuss buying strategies and explore possible interactions. The project has successfully organised several Meet the Buyer events with some of the leading actors of the aerospace industry from all over the world, such as Dassault, Marshall, Sogeclair, Asco, Bodycote, Safran, Figeac Aero, Aero Vodochody, GE-Walter Engine and Evektor, to name but a few. As a member of SAE International - Aerospace ( Torino Piemonte Aerospace organises the participation in SAE-Aerospace technical congresses, such as the SAE Aerotech. The existence of a SAE Torino Group further increases the exchange of knowledge between the local and international engineering community and member companies. One of the main events organised within Torino Piemonte Aerospace is Aerospace & Defense Meetings ( the only international business convention for the aerospace and defense industry in Italy. It will be back in Torino in 2011 (24-27 October): in 4 days only, all participating companies will have the chance of meeting and build up targeted business relations and developing new projects with enterprises from all over the world. For big players and primes this is a unique occasion to optimize time in the research of new suppliers and solutions. The event is backed by the Torino Chamber of Commerce and organised by ABE - BCI Aerospace in collaboration with Piemonte Agency.

3 AEROSPACE IN PIEMONTE Seventh in the world and fourth in Europe, with a turnover of over 8 billion and a workforce of 39,000 employees with high levels of specialization, the aerospace industry represents the largest manufacturing sector in Italy in the field of high-tech integrated systems. In Piemonte, the aerospace sector is one of the productive and scientific excellences, confirming the regional vocation for technological innovation. In terms of wealth and resources, the Piedmontese aerospace industry employs approximately 10,000 people, with an annual turnover of around 2.5 billion. Five regional players stand out both at the national and international level: Alenia Aeronautica, Thales Alenia Space, Avio, Selex Galileo, Microtecnica. 300 SMEs operate alongside, whose technological and manufacturing processes are compatible with the technical standards (quality, accuracy, ability in handling special materials etc.) required by the sector. The Piedmontese aerospace industry has a good ability to operate internationally, as certified by the amount of programmes both commercial and military in which local companies play a significant role. The list includes: Boeing 777, 767 and 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A321, A /600 and A380, Falcon 2000 and EX, Eurofighter Typhoon, C27J, ATR42, NH90 and EH101. More than half of the SMEs have foreign companies among their clients, both European and oversea. The supply chain is complete and offers: final producers of complex subsystems suppliers of parts, components or functional groups that are incorporated in these subsystems subcontractors of specialized manufacturing and equipment. The spectrum of technological and manufacturing know-how is wide: metallurgy, mechanics, electromechanics, electronics, manufacturing and processing of plastics, rubber and all materials used in many complex systems. Attention to technological innovation is constant. Thanks to the presence of the Politecnico University of Torino whose activity in the sector is of great relevance in terms of engineering training and research & development and of other specialized research centers, Piemonte provides the necessary support to design and R&D activities to sustain businesses.
