2 VDL The establishment in 1953 of Metaalindustrie en Constructiewerkplaats P. van der Leegte laid the basis for what today is the VDL Groep. Over time, this enterprise has developed into a leading supply company. In the nineties the VDL Groep decided to expand its activities to include finished products. Since then, the VDL Groep has grown to become an international company with more than 7,500 employees working in approximately 77 operating companies in 14 countries. The VDL Groep develops, produces and sells semi-manufactured and finished products, around 70% of which are destined for export. VDL is committed to controlled growth, emphasizing the innovation, improvement and expansion of both the production facilities and product range. The independent operating companies are active in three divisions: supplies, buses and coaches and other finished products. Structure aimed at decisiveness The unique structure of the VDL Groep guarantees continuity through flexible companies, whose combined specialties create a strong team.
