1 Shropshire Wildlife Trust The Cut Visitor Centre Conference & event venue A medieval setting with modern facilities Set within a wildlife garden steps away from Shrewsbury town centre, The Cut Visitor Centre is the perfect place to hold a meeting or special event. The conference and event venue is housed within a 13th century building, once used by pilgrims visiting Shrewsbury Abbey. Nowadays, it offers a comfortable and well equipped space for business meetings, seminars, training days, talks, product launches or celebrations. Four rooms are available for hire. Each offers a unique venue with flexible layouts, up-to-date audio visual equipment and wireless broadband. The venue is centrally located in Shrewsbury on Abbey Foregate with ample car parking and is easily accessible from the M54 and A5. Garden and gift shop In addition to the conference and event venue, our welcoming visitor centre offers a garden with outdoor seating, self-guided trails and plants for sale; a shop selling nature-inspired books, gifts, cards and bird food; a café selling hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cake and snacks; all with a family-friendly theme. 2 Abbeygate Hall This spacious room is bathed with light through large stained glass windows. On the upper floor of the Old infirmary building, it has a vaulted ceiling and a large oak doorway that leads down a staircase into our beautiful wildlife garden. This room is ideal for talks and presentations as well as informal gatherings. The Hall offers a unique and historic space which combines modern features and offers all the amenities of a purpose-built conference centre. Darwin Suite The following two rooms are on the ground floor of the Old Infirmary building. They can easily be opened up to create one large space, making them especially suitable for training sessions. The Beetle room has a floor to ceiling mural of the Stiperstones. An archway hidden within the old stonework marks the navigation channel to the River Severn. Two doors open directly onto the wildlife garden with outdoor seating. Presentation screen The room measures 7m x 6.75m and can accommodate up to 30 café style, 16 board-room, 36 dining or 40 theatre style. The Barnacle room has two stained glass windows. 3 The room measures 5m x 5m and can accommodate up to 16 café style, 12 boardroom and 24 dining. Garden Room Built into the cloisters, this room is almost part of the garden. A glass wall floods light into the timber-framed room and maximises the view of the garden. It offers a wonderful venue for small meetings, workshops or celebrations. The rooms are available for evening hire and you can also hire the whole venue please contact us to discuss your requirements. Shropshire Wildlife Trust corporate members, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations enjoy preferential rates with a 30% discount. Catering We understand the important role that food plays in the success of your event. We can offer an extensive range of healthy, freshly prepared menu options and a wide range of locally sourced snacks and refreshments to suit all occasions. Please see our menu for more information. Break refreshments include filtered coffee, tea, water and biscuits and are served at 1.50 per person. If the Abbey is on your right hand side, when driving down Abbey Foregate from the Column Island, take a left turn into Abbey Foregate car park. If the Abbey is on your left hand side when approaching from the town centre, Old Potts way, or Belle Vue, take a right turn opposite the Abbey.

5 Drive into the car park, down the slip road into the bottom level of the car park and we are located right by the coach park an 18 th century building with large sash windows. The car park has a pay and display system. How to get to Shrewsbury Shrewsbury is approximately 3 hours from London, 1 ½ hours from Manchester and only 1 hour from Birmingham. By car Shrewsbury connects to the M6 motorway network via the M54. The A49, A5, A53, A458 all make Shrewsbury easily accessible. By rail Shrewsbury is linked by a regular main line rail service from Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and London. For rail timetables, please visit National Rail Enquiries. It is a 15 minute walk from the train station through town or along the River Severn to The Cut. By taxi Taxi cabs are available from the railway station. By bus The bus station is located in Raven s Meadow, in the centre of the town. A number 8 bus will deliver you just across the road from the centre, ask the driver for Shrewsbury Abbey. By bike If you are local why not come by bike? We have secure bike parking at the centre. Both roads leading to the venue have cycle lanes.
