1 Job details Job title: Executive Director - Corporate Services Responsible to: Chief Executive Responsible for: Director of Finance, Director of Human Resources, Director of Business Assurance and Director of IT Location: - Overview of the role The overall purpose of the Executive Director - Corporate Services role is to work with other members of the Executive Team to provide leadership and direction to Plus Dane. This includes representing Plus Dane and building relationships with external stakeholders. It also includes working with the Board, Chief Executive and other Executive Directors to develop and implement strategies, manage performance of the organisation, develop new initiatives, embed culture and lead all staff. In addition to this the post is also accountable for the leadership, management and performance of all activities included in the Corporate Services Directorate and for deputising for the Chief Executive. Main responsibilities and accountabilities Details of the main responsibilities and accountabilities of the Executive Director - Corporate Services role are provided below. Leadership Deputise for the Chief Executive when required. As part of the Plus Dane s executive team, provide corporate leadership to the organisation. Direct and develop Plus Dane s vision, values and mission, working to embed the chosen culture for the organisation. Provide specific leadership to the Corporate Services Directorate. Consult with and influence key external stakeholders. Take responsibility for leading on and implementing change management activities. Strategy With the Chief Executive and other Executive Directors lead on the development and successful implementation of Plus Dane s corporate strategy, business and financial plans. Provide leadership and direction to all functional strategies and plans within the Corporate Services directorate. Shape the services Plus Dane provides in response to the needs of customers, stakeholders and other opportunities. This includes identifying growth initiatives, partnership working and taking the Neighbourhood Investor programme forward. Be responsible for Plus Dane s strategies in areas such as: Business continuity Management of change Culture

2 Value for money Risk Performance management As part of the Executive Team review performance across the whole of Plus Dane. Drive sustained performance across the whole of Plus Dane. Lead on initiatives to deliver business improvements. Promote a customer and performance focused culture. Be accountable for performance within the Corporate Services Directorate. Finances, budgets and resources Overall oversight and leadership of Plus Dane s annual budgets, including the delivery of any agreed cost savings. Accountable for the delivery of budgets within the Corporate Services Directorate. Ensure all of Plus Dane s assets and resources are used efficiently and effectively. Governance Ensure good governance for all areas of Plus Dane. Ensure that Plus Dane operates within all regulatory guidance, statutory and legislative requirements. Responsible for the identification and management of risks across Plus Dane. Management Provide clear leadership and direction to all staff within the Corporate Services Directorate. Directly line manage all third tier posts within the Corporate Service Directorate. Encourage and promote cross functional working between teams across Plus Dane. Other Provide expert professional advice to the Board, Executive Team, other directors and staff as required. Ensure all work is aligned to the vision, mission and values of Plus Dane. Ensure that all functional strategies, policies, processes and guidance notes are up to date and in line with best practice / current legislation. Carry out all other duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time, with the level of this job description. 4 Job details Job title: Executive Director - Corporate Services Area Education Experience and knowledge Personal qualities Requirements Professional qualification (e.g. CIMA / CIPFA) Educated to Degree level or equivalent post graduate qualifications or equivalent senior level experience Has experience of: strategic management and delivery of finance activities for an organisation (including capital management, financial management and reporting, treasury, accounting, funding, business planning, financial modelling etc.) developing and implementing strategies developing and leading on change management activities operating as part of a leadership team managing a large staff team providing expert advice to senior staff / Board members/stakeholders delivering a high performing service communicating, negotiating and working with a wide range of stakeholders building strong working relationships with external stakeholders and partners Has knowledge of: the political agenda / current operating environment for social housing providers the housing and related markets relevant and required legislation and regulation best practice approaches to delivery of finance services to an organisation delivery of services to an organisation such as HR, governance and IT Able to: lead, motivate and develop staff lead by example lead the development of strategies and contribute to wider strategic thinking across Plus Dane think commercially and provide strategic business insight think strategically and solve complex problems control budgets represent and promote Plus Dane s mission and values (e.g. Neighbourhood Investor) influence others confidently make decisions Has: high personal integrity and a strong focus on personal accountability to deliver effective outcomes excellent communication and negotiation skills excellent written, verbal and numerical skills Is:
