2 Exams: The exams will cnsist f multiple chice questins cvering material emphasized in class. Yu are allwed t use a calculatr and a cheat sheet during exams. The cheat sheet shuld be n a single 8 x 11 sheet (yu may use bth sides). Cheat sheets can be type-written. It is imprtant t make sure that yu understand what yu put dwn n yur cheat sheet. During exams, I will nt help yu interpret what yu wrte dwn n yur cheat sheet this includes verifying whether yur frmulas are crrect. Yu will get a grade f zer if yu miss an exam. Yu need t infrm me in advance if yu will nt be able t take a test as scheduled. Excused absences are limited t dcumented (in writing) illnesses, university spnsred events and emergencies. If yu miss any f the exams yu will get an incmplete r an F in the curse, depending n the circumstances. The schedule f the tests is as fllws: First Exam Sept 22 Secnd Exam Oct. 27 Final Exam Dec. 8, 5:30-7:30pm Excel exercises: These will typically be assignments that culd be prblems that yu wrk n r that yu have t d in Excel. Yu are encuraged t cllabrate with yur classmates n the Excel exercises. Instructins will be given ut in detail fr each assignment. Assignments will be handed ut in class and will nt be psted n the class website. There will be n pprtunity t make up missed exercises. Class participatin: I expect yu t cme t class and t read ahead and be familiar with the material prir t cming t class. Yu will get the mst benefit frm the curse if yu read the chapters befre we discuss them in class. Questins and active participatin in discussins are highly encuraged since these help reinfrce what we think we knw frm reading and ding the assignments. While I d nt check attendance n a regular basis, I may d s ccasinally. Frequent absences will impact yur grade negatively thrugh (lack f) class participatin. If yu d have t miss class, it is yur respnsibility t catch up n what yu miss. I suggest asking a classmate what we have gne ver n any day that yu are absent. 5 Andersn Schl f Management Student-Managed Investments Prgram In 2006, the Bard f Regents f the University f New Mexic made available $2 millin f the Regents Endwment Fund t establish an all-equity investment prtfli t be managed by Andersn Schl f Management students. The prtfli is managed under the supervisin f faculty members as part f the students curse wrk in finance. The curriculum fr the prgram cnsists f a 3-curse sequence which is ffered at bth the undergraduate and MBA level. The curses are Investments, Equity Security Analysis, and Applied Investments Management. The Investments curse (BBA 471/MBA 571) prvides an intrductin t the fundamental theries and practices f investment analysis and management. The Equity Security Analysis (BBA 472/MBA 572) curse cvers cmpany valuatin and equity analysis. Students serve as the prgram s equity research analysts. The students are respnsible fr prviding the research valuatin reprts and recmmendatins fr stck hldings, and they als lk fr new stcks t recmmend. The Applied Investments Management curse (BBA 479/MBA 579) is the final curse in the sequence and prvides the hands-n management f the Regents Prtfli. The student prtfli managers make recmmendatins fr hw t allcate the equity prtfli amng sectr exchange-traded funds and individual stcks as well as hw t allcate and cash. They als are respnsible fr mnitring, reprting, and risk management as well as the lng-term trend psitins. An Investment Advisry Cmmittee (IAC), cnsisting f 9 investment prfessinals, acts as the versight bdy t the prgram and apprves any purchase and sale recmmendatins made by the students.
