1 POSITION DESCRIPTION Date May 2012 Position Title Marketing & Advancement Officer Organisation UnitingCare West Reports to Manager, Marketing & Advancement Class Level C/D Position Number SECTION 1 The purpose of this job is to diversify and increase the revenue base of the agency; coordinate, maintain and further develop existing promotions, publications and fundraising activities. To act as a central point of contact for various internal and external promotions, publications and fundraising activities; and prepare and disseminate accurate and timely information to the media, community and other stakeholders on the activities and services of the agency. Administration This position description contains the key tasks and associated performance indicators. The list of key tasks is not intended to be complete. Other tasks will be assigned from time to time to meet the needs of the agency. KRA 1. Profile and Brand development - External Communications Events Coordination - Corporate events - Openings/Launches - Annual Public Meeting - Fundraising Website development - Content management - Monitor Google analytics Publications - Implementing and managing production of all UnitingCare West promotional materials including quarterly newsletter, brochures, appeal fliers, annual report. Expos and Exhibitions Advertising - Develop copy and artwork for adverts - Source and place adverts in relevant publications Media - Handle media enquires - Prepare media releases - Media monitoring Increase in attendance numbers and feedback Increase in donations and support Website information is up to date and accurate All are aware of current UCW marketing initiatives Publications are delivered on time and within budget Community recognition of UnitingCare West brand/image UnitingCare West brand/image synonymous with its Community Services ethos Presence at industry and network functions Position Description, May Marketing & Advancement Officer

Increase and Diversity Funding Base Donor Development and Management Develop and nurture relationships with existing sponsors/donors Appeals manage existing appeals and develop new initiatives Client feedback Accuracy of information on database Increased contact opportunities Increase in donations KRA 3. Internal Communications Corporate stationery production Coordinate the design and production of any materials utilising the UCW identity and where appropriate design and produce these in-house Marketing and promotional materials for programs/services Promote UCW positively internally and externally Internal newsletter Appropriate involvement in staff events and initiatives Corporate stationery meets the agency s agreed standards All materials are consistent in design Promotional material available on all programs Number of visits and invitations to relate to wider community KRA 4. Administration Monitoring financial targets and regularly report on performance Preparation of reports detailing marketing activities of UCW Ensure internal and external users know where to find information Ensure that administration and documentation requirements are completed competently Project Management Cost effective marketing initiatives Timely reports to Senior Management Information is readily accessible Relevant information is provided to assist with decision-making process Documents are completed accurately according to required procedures and on time Accurate and up to date records are maintained Any other duties that may arise from time to time which fall within the parameters of this role. 4 SECTION 4 AUTHORITY LEVELS The Marketing & Advancement Officer has the authority to approve payments within the agreed budget. Develop and manage relationships with corporate community and industry bodies and represent UCW at industry and networking functions. SECTION 5 COMPETENCY PROFILE Essential Competencies Demonstrated marketing, promotions and research ability; Proven project management experience in full life cycle project management and delivery of business/marketing initiatives including budgeting, resource allocation, reporting etc; Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships or networks with contacts with a view to achieving corporate objectives; Demonstrative effective time management and organisational skills with ability to prioritise and multitask; Ability to exercise judgement and initiative when procedures are not clearly defined; Provide advice to employees and/or volunteers; Demonstrated ability to assist with the preparation of moderately complex programs; Analytical thinking with the ability to effectively problem solve to resolution; Strong marketing skills with business awareness and commercial acumen; Strong customer service ethos and affinity with the work of UCW; Essential Qualifications/Certificates Degree in a related field A current C class driver s licence Current National Police Clearance Current Working with Children Position Description, May Marketing & Advancement Officer

5 Essential Knowledge Knowledge of marketing, promotions and research; Knowledge of contemporary marketing principles and practices; Knowledge of graphics packages, including Adobe InDesign, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Essential Experience Experience in marketing projects and policy development; Experience in fundraising/donor management; Experience and knowledge of database maintenance, design and manipulation.
