Speargrass Golf Course is a professionally run 18 hole championship golf course that opened in May 2003 to rave reviews by both players and media. 3 Speargrass Golf Course is an 18 hole golf course located on the banks of the Bow River. The beautifully manicured links style layout offers choices of four different teeing grounds on each hole for all abilities, with yardage ranging from 5000 to 6700 yards. Generous fairways and large greens accept a well hit shot and strategically placed sand traps and water hazards as well as tall fescue grass framing each hole await those less fortunate shots. Slope rating ranges from 116 from the forward tees to a conservative 129 from the black tees. One very unique feature of the golf course lies in the fact that both front and back nines have 3 par threes, 3 par fours and 3 par fives. A power cart mandatory golf course, Speargrass offers its guest the ability to drive directly to their ball in the fairway and intermediate rough, thus making for an average round duration of four and one half hours. We do advise our guests to play the appropriate teeing grounds to their ability in order for everyone to enjoy their experience to its fullest. White tees are recommended for tournaments. For pick up anywhere in Calgary and area, call: First Canada Charters: up to 48 people (estimated at $10 per player) National Motor Coach: up to 56 people (estimated at $18 per player) Tournaments are responsible for organizing their own bus transportation. Both companies recommend booking 1 month in advance. Multiple buses may also be an option. Please let Speargrass staff know if using bus transportation. We ask that you specify on the agreement the starting time of your meal and that you feel free to invite any non golfing guests. Hole in One Insurance You can offer an exciting contest opportunity for your tournament s participants to win cash or vacations. We can arrange to have insurance coverage for any of our par three holes. Beat the Pro Contest Challenge one of our Golf Professionals to a closest to the pin contest on one of the par three holes. Beat the pro and you ll receive double your wager in Pro Shop gift certificates. Pre Tournament Clinic Our Golf Professional staff would be pleased to offer your group timely hints on the driving range or more extensive one on one instruction before their round. Additional Services Rental Clubs Men s & ladies sets are available. Left or right handed. $25. Fun Contests Speargrass staff will be pleased to help you plan and set up your contests. We ll provide the markers and pencils for event holes and we will provide a list of the best holes for each prize. Number of contests available may be limited based on the number of golfers in the tournament. 7 Need help organizing your tournament? We ve included this handy checklist to make sure everything is done on time and to help you keep organized! EIGHT WEEKS OR MORE IN ADVANCE Book your tournament date, time and approximate number of players and catering needs with Speargrass Golf Course Tournament Coordinator by completing and sending in tournament agreement and submitting your $500 deposit. Confirm special requirements needed such as custom crested merchandise, photo requirements, hole in one programs. Set entry deadline for event several weeks prior so that guaranteed numbers are not a problem. Begin registering participants by collecting fees and surveying their rental equipment needs, dietary restrictions and playing capabilities (handicaps, scores) for grouping purposes. Remind players of important policies such as dress code and liquor policies, pace of play, rainy day procedure, etc. Finalize tournament format based on players abilities. The competition format is subject to final approval from the Professional staff. Consider on course contests such as long drive, closest to pin, etc. Cancellations must be made at least 30 days in advance of your event s play date to recover your deposit. Cancellations made after the 30 day deadline will forfeit their deposit. Tournaments may be booked less than 30 days in advance; however, deposit will be forfeited if the event is cancelled. TWENTY ONE DAYS OR MORE IN ADVANCE Complete registration and payment of individuals for group to arrive at expected number of participants. 50% of the function fees will become due and payable 21 days in advance and based on the number of confirmed participants. Prepare tournament rules and check in procedure. Provide the Speargrass Tournament Coordinator with the following information: Expected number of golfers. Tentative catering needs (including host services, dietary restrictions) Tentative prize and/or gift certificate requirements. Tentative competition requirements. Tentative prize table and registration requirements. SEVEN DAYS OR MORE IN ADVANCE Confirm playing format, tee choice and tee times with Speargrass Golf Course. Confirm prize and/or gift certificate requirements and hole competition needs. Confirm optional golf services needed such as club rentals, pre tournament clinic, team photos, etc. MINIMUM THREE DAYS IN ADVANCE Make necessary adjustments and confirm your guaranteed number of participants for golf and catering services and confirm your final billing price. This is the minimum number of participants you will be billed for. No exceptions. Send player foursomes list to Speargrass. Your cart signs will be generated from this list so make it specific with first and last names. Remember our helpful professional staff is always ready to lend a hand helping to organize your event. 9 2 Tee Crossover: Groups tee off on first hole (play the 18 holes in normal sequence) and tenth hole (play back 9 first, then front 9) at regular tee time intervals. This helps get your event done sooner. Bag Drop: Area where guest is greeted and golf bags/clubs are removed from vehicle for cart staging. Best Ball: A match in which one player plays against the better of two balls or the best ball of three players. Also the better score of two partners in a four ball or best ball match. Beverage Cart: A service provided by the golf course whereby a specially outfitted power cart travels around the golf course allowing golfers to purchase food and beverages. Cart Staging: Power carts are set up and prepared for use. Each participants name will be displayed on a cart sign located at the front of the cart. This helps keep your event on time and eliminates confusion. Course Rating: The comparison of playing one course as opposed to another in terms of difficulty. It is expressed in strokes or decimal fractions of strokes. Drink Ticket: A ticket provided to every player in a tournament which can be redeemed for any type of beverage. Fairway: The area of the course between the tee and the green that is well maintained allowing a good lie for the ball. Foursome: A group of four golfers. The maximum number of golfers allowed playing together Green: The culmination of a golf hole, where the flagstick and cup are located and where a golfer will putt out to end the hole. Halfway House: An area in the clubhouse designated to serving food and beverage items to players in the middle of their round of golf. Handicap: The number of strokes a player may deduct from his actual score to adjust his scoring ability to the level of a scratch golfer. It is designed to allow golfers of different abilities to basically compete on the same level. Host Bar/Cart/Halfway: An option allowing the event organizer to be responsible for all food and/or beverage purchases made by tournament participants at either the lounge, beverage cart or halfway house. Links Style Layout: A golf course that features wide open spaces, many sand traps, water and few trees. Player s Assistant: Person(s) assigned to monitor groups on the course, improve guest experience and assist with pace of play Pace of Play: The speed a foursome maintains on a round of golf to allow them to meet the designated time. A round at Speargrass should take 4 hours and 30 minutes. Prize Allowance: The portion of the tournament green fee designated towards prizes that must be purchased from the Pro Shop. Rough: The areas outside of fairways that generally features higher, thicker grass or naturally growing (unmowed) vegetation. Scores: Par: The number of shots expected to take to get the ball in the hole. Par for each hole is given on the scorecard. Birdie: One stroke under par for a single hole. Bogey: One shot over par for a single hole Eagle: Two strokes under par for a single hole. Hole in one: A hole made with one stroke. Same as "ace". Scramble: A team competition where players play the best ball of a team member after every stroke or drive. This is the preferred format for tournaments at Speargrass Golf Course. Shotgun: When all foursomes tee off at the same time, starting on different holes. This allows a large group to finish at approximately the same time. Slope: Adjusts your handicap to the difficulty of the golf course. The more difficult the course, the more strokes you'll need. Starter: Greeter stationed at 1st tee to introduce players to course rules and familiarize with layout. Tee Boxes: Where every hole starts, from which you hit your drive or tee shot. Tee Time: The time a foursome is expected to start playing. Waste Bunker: A waste bunker is a sandy area, usually very large, that might also have rocks, pebbles, shells or various types of vegetation in it. Water Hazard: A pond, lake, river, or any other open water on the course. Speargrass Golf Course Event Agreement Page 9 of 11

10 Dress Code Speargrass adheres to dress restrictions which are in effect at all times on the golf course and premises. NO gym shorts, cut offs, sweat pants, tank tops, halter tops or metal spiked shoes are permitted. Blue jeans and T shirts are acceptable if they are not dirty, torn or offensive. Shirts must be worn at all times. Power Cart Usage As power carts are mandatory at Speargrass, all persons participating in the event will be familiar with the operation of these carts. In the event a power cart is damaged by a participant, the tournament organizer will assume responsibility for the repair of the vehicle. By signing the tournament application, the organizers agree to hold Speargrass and its employees free of any liability or claims for the use thereof. Speed of Play All players will adhere to a speed of play policy in accordance with Speargrass Golf Course guidelines. The course marshal has the right to move groups and/or remove players from the course. Our Tournament Coordinator will be helpful assisting organizers as to the proper etiquette, course playability and tournament format for all groups to fully enjoy their day with us, as well as other visitors to the facility. It is essential that the tournament is prompt to their tee times and pace of play does not exceed 4.5 hours. Club Rentals Each player must have a set of golf clubs. Speargrass has a limited number of sets for rent and they should be reserved ahead of time by the organizer. Practice Facilities The limited use of our practice facility is available for all players participating in the tournament before teeing off. Weather Cancellations/Rescheduling Tournaments will be deemed playable unless course management closes the course. In the event of closure and at the discretion of course management, the golfing portion of the tournament will be rescheduled. If this is not possible, a rain check will be given to all participants. The banquet portion will be held regardless of weather. Menu Confirmation Speargrass requires a confirmed menu choice seven days prior to the tournament date and fall under the same policy guidelines as the confirmed number of participants. Food and Beverage In accordance with AGLC requirements and quality control aspects, all food and beverage products must be supplied by and purchased from Speargrass. Unauthorized food and beverage products will be confiscated and playing privileges may be revoked. All host service and/or pre purchased ticket products from food and beverage will be subject to a 15% gratuity. Confirmation and Payment Policy An event is considered tentative until the required deposit and signed application are received by Speargrass Golf Course. The event will be confirmed only after these criteria are met. Any deposits or other payments made in advance of the tournament function date will be subtracted from the final billing. A tentative number of participants and menu choice is requested at the time of confirmation. The event organizer will be contacted by Speargrass Tournament Coordinator twenty one days prior to the function date for updated information regarding the event and for receipt of the payment required at this time. Final number of participants must be confirmed three days prior to the event. This number is not subject to reduction and the final bill will be based on this number. Speargrass will invoice the group three days before the event and full payment is due prior to the first tee time on the event date. The organizer is required to collect funds from all participants prior to the event and only a lump sum payment will be accepted by Speargrass. All other host tabs and miscellaneous purchases must be paid for before leaving the facility. We accept certified cheques, cash, VISA, MasterCard or Direct Debit. I understand any and all the deposit and payment policies as outlined in pages 1 to 11 of this Agreement and will ensure execution of the same. I understand that outside liquor is not to be brought to the Speargrass Golf Course in accordance with the ALG Commission Act. In advance of the event the tournament coordinator will inform the participants of this policy, and also inform participants that any violation of this policy may result in the seizure of this outside liquor and its later return to the tournament coordinator. I understand that the tournament coordinator is ultimately responsible for the participant s behavior during the event. Any inappropriate conduct will be reported to the tournament coordinator and may result the voluntary expulsion of the participant from the premises of Speargrass Golf Course. Any damages incurred to the Speargrass Golf Course, its equipment, or its facilities, that was inflicted directly by the participants of this event will become the ultimate responsibility of the tournament coordinator. Any costs incurred to repair these damages will be billed directly to the event, and not to the offending individuals.
