Miss Fleming is now acting Head of Year 9. Receptionist/Administration Assistant Temporary Fixed Term Post 1B Actual annual salary 5,033. (FTE 14,641) Required to start a.s.a.p. until 21 July 2015 Working hours 8.15am to 4.15pm on Mondays and Tuesdays with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. We are looking for a cheerful, well presented person to join our reception team and be the first point of contact for visitors who arrive at school or telephone the school. SIMs experienced would be an advantage but is not essential. A basic understanding of Microsoft Office. The ability to remain calm and approachable under pressure. 2 Page 2 The Colet Chronicle SCHOOL PRODUCTION - LOSERVILLE Thursday 12 and Friday 13 March 2015 Performance starts at 7:30pm Loserville follows the story of Michael Dork, a computer geek with a dream! He is determined to send the first ! The new girl, Holly, who wants a fresh start and to be recognised for her brain and not her beauty, quickly becomes the object of Michael s affections. Michael and his gang, Lucas, Marvin and Francis, are working together to change the future for geeks worldwide but will Eddie Arch, the school bully and son of the richest man in town, be able to stop them? DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS The following students were asked if they would like to take part in the Bucks Schools Cross Country Championships at Hughenden Park on 4 February. Harri K and Ross H finished 6 th and 7 th and were given letters of consideration to represent Bucks County at the English Schools Cross Country Championship on March 14 in Blackburn. 3 The Colet Chronicle Page 3 HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY 2015 Until recently I was unaware that people I knew had experienced such horrific times in their life and that they had to get over such nightmares not even imaginable to a young adult of our age. Every day for the past four years I have talked with an old gentleman named WIlfred on the way to school, it hadn t ever occurred to me just how old he was, or what he had done in life. In a recent conversation we began to talk about the Holocaust and the camps throughout Europe. Then he began to tell me the story of his time in the concentration camp Bogdanovka after being captured when he was twenty years old fighting for the Soviets. He remembered each morning waking up at five and preparing for the day ahead. Sometimes it would be simple labour or doing work at the SS Commander s House, later his job was to make sure that the other prisoners who had been shot were dead and to then push the bodies into a pit of lime. Sadley Wilfred did not live to see the 70th Anniversary at the end of the Holocaust. This memorial is dedicated to Wilfred and the 40,000 prisoners who died at Bogdanovka in their struggle for freedom. The memorial shows a Jewish prisoner being pressed down by a Nazis shoe; this is to represent how even the great amount of pressure the Jews and prisoners were put under and to show how they did not stop fighting until the end of their lives, even the young and old. If you are interested in this facility please contact the school office on or admin@john colet.co.uk In memory of: Wilfred J Sallow 17/1/21 22/1/15 Conor R 10D PUPILS AIM TO HELP OTHERS COLLECTING FOR THE VILLAGE FOODBANK Pupils from Form 11G, have been praised for organising a collection of food for the village Foodbank to donate to people in need. Everyone in the form was involved, but the main organisation was done by Tara H, Kieran H, Kayleigh H and Megan D. Once the food was collected by Chiltern Foodbank confirmation was received that they had collected 84 kilos of food, enough to feed 10 people for three days. Well done to all involved.

4 Page 4 The Colet Chronicle WENDOVER YOUTH CLUB AGM 31/3/2015 at 20:00 at the Youth Centre Wendover Youth Centre would like to invite all parents of our youth clubs to join us for our Annual General Meeting. We would like you to celebrate with us the success of last year and to be involved with the planning for the future. The Youth Centre is important to your son/daughter and to us we would love you to be there. I am pleased to announce that the new supplier from September 2015 will be The Print-Lab, a local company based in Aylesbury. We will be holding an information evening on Tuesday 17 March where you will be able to meet representatives from The Print-Lab and see the new uniform. Further information will follow shortly.
