After School Clubs You will have received this week confirmation of Clubs that your child has been allocated a place on. All Clubs start from Monday, 16 th September. As we have a waiting list of children who would like to join Clubs, it is important that children attend the Clubs they have been allocated on and pay promptly (if two or more sessions are missed their place may be allocated to someone on the waiting list). If your child is unable to attend a Club please ensure that the person leading the Club has been informed or you may write a note that can be handed into the office that can then be given to the person concerned. Class Term Ahead Letters These are being sent home today. Please read, and keep them, they have very important information in them. - 1

Last Friday I told the children that I had received a letter from the Director of Education and Learning for Essex. In his letter the Director, Tim Coulson, wrote that: I am pleased to be writing specifically to you to congratulate you and your staff on your summer results I was particularly impressed to see that the school was one of those that showed the highest improvement across Key Stage 1 and 2. Congratulations to you and your colleagues on this success, we know that achieving high standards and significant improvement with children is very demanding. (Our bold print) St Helena School Primary Liaison Assembly We would like to invite all Year 5 & 6 parents to join us in an assembly lead by St Helena Secondary School at 2.30 p.m. on Monday, 23 rd September. Document Processing The Governing Body have decided that their meeting on 10th September that the School is to now charge 20 for the counter signing, by members of staff, of documents such as passport applications. The aim of this is to raise money for the education of our children and to enable staff to focus as much of their time on the education of children as is possible. Years 3,4, 5 and 6,, and All our children in Key Stage 2 are being encouraged to learn to be more independent and to develop greater learning for life skills. 5 Stuck? Use the 4 Bs! Try to think about how you can solve the problem independently. What do you already know? What have we looked at in the lesson? Are there any examples on the white board? Have you checked the working wall? Talk to a friend sitting near you. Maybe they can help you. Be careful not to distract them from their learning though. If all else fails, it s time to ask an adult for help. Be patient though, they may be working with someone else.
