Draft Monthly Electronic Funds Transfer Draft is a payment plan that allows a member to pay for a continuous membership in equal monthly payments that are automatically deducted from one s checking, savings or credit card account for as long as one belongs to the Y. This payment plan does not lock you into a set period of time, but does require 30 days written notice for cancellation. Other Payment Plans Memberships can also be paid-in-full at time of application using cash, check, major credit and debit cards. Annual membership payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event that a member does not use his/her membership to the extent that was anticipated, no refunds or credits will be issued. Gift Certificates Gift certificates are available for purchase at the member service desk. YOUTH or ADULT FAMILY Annual Fee: $40 Annual Fee: $67 Joining Fee* This one-time $60 fee ($35 Young Adult) is for all new members and members who allow their membership to expire for a 60-day period. There will be NO joining fee for paid-in-full and monthly E.F.T. draft memberships when you register for a minimum 1 year. The funds are used for equipment purchases and capital improvements. Guest Pass Fee Passes purchased within 30 days of joining may be applied to the joining fee of a new membership. Maximum purchase of 6 day passes per year. Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult. 3 FREE FOR ALL MEMBERS CHILD WATCH HOURS Parents using the Y recreationally may use this service on a space available basis. The Y reserves the right to change hours and policies. Parents must remain on premises. Children must be 6 months or older. FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 6 WEEK STARTER PROGRAM All new members will receive a complimentary orientation to the fitness center equipment and weekly check-ins for 6 weeks with a certified personal trainer. The program covers nutritional counseling, strength training tutorials and healthy challenges to help you on the path to wellness, and keep you motivated. Sign up at the Membership Service Desk or complete a form at nwcty.org/forms AGE POLICY In all areas of the YMCA, children under 13 need to be supervised by an adult (18+) unless in a YMCA program. Must be 13 years of age and older to enter and use the Fitness Center. REFUND POLICY Membership fees may be refunded if you move from the Y s service area or due to medical reasons. Refunds are from the date of notification forward, not retroactive. Program Fees will be refunded in the event the Y cancels a class due to insufficient enrollment or facility conflict & will be processed by the appropriate program director. If you wish to withdraw from a program the following will apply: 1. All refund requests must be made in writing. 2. If you notify the Y before classes begin, class fee paid less $10 service charge. 3. If you notify the Y after one class meeting, 75% refund less $10 service charge. 4. If you notify the Y after two class meetings, 50% refund less $10 service charge. 5. No refund will be approved after three class meetings. 6. Refunds will not be given to participants who fail to use membership or attend classes. 7. All refunds will be processed through our Business Office. Awards are determined on a sliding scale using total household income. There are three ways to receive financial assistance: 1. Income based membership application, 2. Y Cares Membership Assurance Program (free 6 month Membership for existing members losing full-time employment) and 3. Financial Assistance application. Applications are available at the membership service desk of each branch. In 2014, over $324,691 was provided to children & families in Northwest CT. Y CARES MEMBERSHIP ASSURANCE PROGRAM Y members who have had an active Y membership in good standing for the past six months and lose their full-time employment are eligible for the Y Cares Membership Assurance Program, which grants them a free membership for up to 6 months. VISIT Y s ACROSS the U.S. Y AWAY Program- Visit other Participating YMCA s throughout the country. Many participating YMCAs have no restrictions on visiting Y members, however some restrictions may include a visit limit or a small guest fee. Get Involved As the leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. To do our important work, the Y relies on support from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders. Y literacy VolunteerS Y Literacy Volunteers provides tutoring services at no charge to both students and tutors of Litchfield County. Services include: one-on-one or small group tutoring, ongoing training for tutors, English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), pair support and continuous collaboration with local libraries. Planned Giving Many friends of the Y choose to help extend the Y s influence beyond their own lifetimes by sharing some of their personal assets. They accomplish this by making a planned gift to the Y s permanent endowment fund. The endowment fund is a powerful permanent legacy to further the work of the Y. Each year a portion of the endowment fund s income is used to support programs serving children. For information on planned giving please contact Greg Brisco at (860) x116. WINCHESTER YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU The WYSB has been serving the children and families of the Winchester/Winsted area and surrounding communities for over 35 years. Currently serving over 700 children, we strive to make our area a better place for all families through programs and counseling. WYSB services include art therapy, counseling & case management, therapeutic recreation, as well as, our therapeutic day camp, Rising Star Camp. Our nationally certified trainers have you moving non-stop using a variety of different equipment including sandbags, kettlebells and ropes! Small group of 2-3 people for 60 minute sessions available. Not rehab! New at the Northwest CT YMCA in Torrington and Winsted! Prehab will specifically walk adult members through strengthening target areas like the core, hips, shoulders and knees. Certified trainers will focus on improving muscular imbalances which help correct posture, improve balance, flexibility and reduce your chance of injury. Members will use body weight, exercise bands and light dumbbells to improve range of motion and joint stability. Members will meet once a week for 8 weeks in the Group Exercise room. 45 min. A special 45 minute class for adults who don t feel at ease in the water or who have not had swimming lessons before. Instructors work with small groups to help individuals overcome your fears and begin to develop basic swimming ability and water safety skills. This class is designed for adults who have been taking the learn to swim class or have some swimming experience and are ready to work on stroke improvement and building up endurance. Adult Boxing fitness Rather than actual combat, the YMCA Boxing Program will focus one simple concept: proper form and technique. Boxing often incorporates all the skill-related components of fitness; agility, balance, coordination, speed, power, and reaction time. Therefore boxing workouts do not just involve the shoulders and upper body but also connect the feet, legs, hips and core to create fluid and powerful movements. Each progressive week will focus on the induction of a new technical skill that students will link together, like the links of a chain, with previous skills until the final week where they can utilize everything they have learned. 8 weeks. 60 min. Winsted: Sundays 12 noon Torrington: Wednesdays 7:00 pm FIT FAMILY Parents and children ages: 7-12 The fit family program is a series of circuit based exercises in a fun and interactive class to keep families active and healthy. Children and adults learn bodyweight and light hand weight exercises combined with cardiovascular movements to create the perfect circuit. Classes change every week to keep everyone on their toes! 30 minutes. Torrington: Fridays 4:00 pm Winsted: Thursdays 4:00 pm YOUTH WELLNESS 101 Ages 13 to 18 Years. This active and informational 8 week program helps members to lead a healthy lifestyle. Throughout the course, all aspects of wellness are coached, including: muscular strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and nutrition. Weekly healthy challenges are integrated to provide motivation! Upon completion of the program, participants will be quizzed on the knowledge they have learned over the 8 weeks. (8)-1 hour meetings with a Certified Personal Coach. Torrington: Fridays 4:00 pm Winsted: Thursday 3:00 pm 180 SPORTS CONDITIONING with IN-SEASON & OFF-SEASON ATHLETES Increase your explosive power, improve your linear and lateral quickness and decrease your risk of injury with the help of the Vertimax technology. Vertimax is a sophisticated and safe jumping platform with bands that attach to various points on the body for resistance during explosive movements. Athletes involved over the 8 week progressive program sessions will benefit from a quicker first step, faster top speed and improved side to side movements. Space limited to 4 per class. EXCEL SPORTS STRENGTH TRAINING IN-SEASON & OFF-SEASON ATHLETES Bigger, faster, stronger in 8 weeks. As the outdoor sport season is coming closer, fine tune your athletic abilities with our weekly strength and conditioning sessions. Athletes will learn sport specific weight training lifts, drills and proper mechanics inside the weight room to improve their athletic abilities on the field and reduce the risk of injuries! PRE/POST NATAL FITNESS This 8 week program focuses on safely guiding expecting Mothers with breathing techniques, pelvic floor exercises, gentle yoga poses & preparations for labor or recovery from labor. Sessions occur once weekly. This is also a wonderful class for new moms to come and share their time and experiences with a strong community of like-minded people. The instructor s style will consist of light training that will help you to improve circulation, ease digestion, maintain a limber spine, strengthen your uterus and pelvic muscles, and simply make you more at ease throughout your pregnancy or throughout your recovery. Dr. s approval form required. 60 minutes. Participants will meet in the group exercise room. Torrington: Thursdays 9:00 am Winsted: Friday 12:00 pm running TEAM NWCTY This group running program culminates at the finish line of a road race in the Fall. It won t just stop there! Team NWCTY continues to train together for future events like 5k road races, obstacle courses, mud runs and more. With this one goal in mind: together we can run, jog and walk our way to a healthier lifestyle and a sense of accomplishment. Youth PE & more PROGRAM FEES 8 Week Classes 1x per week Facility Member: $38 Program Member: $76 2x per Week: Facility Member: $57 Program Member: $114 PARENT & CHILD DISCOVERY SERIES THE MUSIC CIRCLE Ages 1-3. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children in this music discovery class. Katie Kat, our fun toddler instructor, will have children using different props, sounds, dances and instruments to explore how we move and communication through rhythm to make sense of the world around us. 30 min. Torrington: Wed 9:00 am SQUEAKY SNEAKERS GYM Ages 3 to 5 Years. Introduce your child to a variety of fun activities including soccer, obstacles course, basketball, trampolines and hockey in this age appropriate 45 minute class. Please bring water for your child. Torrington: Thursdays 9:00 am Winsted: Wednesdays 9:00 am SQUEAKY SNEAKERS GYM & SWIM Ages 3 to 5 Years. A 45 minute Squeaky Sneakers gym class followed by a 30 minute Parent-Pike swim lesson at 10:00 am. Meets in the gymnasium. Please bring water for your child. Torrington: Thursdays 9:00 am Fees: Facility Member $50 Program Member $100 TINY TUMBLERS GYM Ages 18 months to 3 years. Toddlers learn to twist and roll on their own teaching independence and confidence while building strength and flexibility. Mats are used to roll, twist and flip while a balance beam is offered for an even greater challenge! Torrington: Fridays 9:00 am TINY TUMBLERS GYM AND SWIM Ages 18 months to 3 years. A 45 minute Tiny Tumblers gym class followed by a 30 minute Parent-Perch swim lesson at 10:00 am. Please bring water for your child. Torrington: Fridays 9:00 am Fees: Facility Member $50 Program Member $100 MOTOR SKILL MADNESS! Ages 1 to 3 Years. Studies show that when children learn motor skills at an early age they become better at sports as they age. Parents are encouraged to play with their children in this class. Participants will work on developing motor skills using movements such as crawling, kicking, throwing, rolling and more while having fun! This is a class that encourages youth awareness of how to move in a stimulating and active environment. 45 minutes. Torrington: Tuesdays 10:00 am Winsted: Wednesdays 9:00 am ROOKIE TEE-BALL LEAGUE Ages 3-5 years. Children and parents are encouraged to participate in the Y Tee Ball League which will introduce the basic baseball/softball fundamentals such as throwing, hitting and base running. Players will need sneakers and a glove. T-shirts and hats provided. 60 min. Torrington: Sat 12:00 pm Canceled on rainy days. Call the Torrington YMCA to confirm. BIG STRIKERS INDOOR SOCCER Ages 7 to 10 Years. Participants will learn individual skills and sportsmanship through high-energy drills and games indoors. This is a higher leveled, more skilled class to the sport of soccer. Participants should complete Little Kickers or be involved with other organized soccer groups to sign up. Athletic clothing and footwear required. 45 minutes. Torrington: Mondays 4:00 pm Winsted: Tuesday 4:00 pm LITTLE KICKERS INDOOR SOCCER Ages 3 to 6 Years. Participants will learn rules, skills and sportsmanship through drills and games indoors. This is an introductory class to the sport of soccer. Athletic clothing and footwear required. 30 minutes. Torrington: Mondays 5:00 pm Winsted: Tuesdays 5:00 pm JUMP ROPE DRILLS N SKILLS Ages 7-14.You may have heard of our Forbes Flyers being nationally recognized for their demonstrations and competitive jump rope team. This 8 week jump rope summer program covers all introductory movements to rope skipping. Learn double dutch and speed drills while improving your health and having fun! 45 minutes. Jump ropes will be provided. Torrington: Saturdays 11:30 am BEGINNERS YOUTH KARATE Ages 5-8 years. Participants will learn self-discipline and defense in this fun and engaging introduction to Karate.
