2 WELCOME welcome to Wycombe Summit If you re looking for the ultimate ski or snowboard experience, you ve come to the right place. Welcome to Wycombe Summit, an alpine retreat and the perfect place to learn, or improve your skills, all year round. What do we offer? The Summit offers something for everyone. Come and enjoy the 300 metre Dendix main slope (the longest in England), the 100 metre Dendix trainer slope and seven 20 metre nursery slopes, all of which are fully lubricated and floodlit. The Recreational Standard To enhance Wycombe Summit slope safety there is a minimum standard policy in operation, called the Recreational Standard. This standard is the ability to use all lifts, perform controlled linked turns, and stop confidently. If you are a competent skier or snowboarder and meet this standard you may use the slope unsupervised. If you have never skied or snowboarded before, or do not meet this standard, then lessons must be taken in order to reach this level. Simply pre-book lessons with reception. Booking Lessons All lessons must be pre-booked and pre-paid and remain nonrefundable and non-transferable. Depending upon personal ability a lesson may have to be repeated before progressing to the next level. On arrival, check in at reception then head downstairs to Ski Hire to obtain all equipment and go to your designated meeting point to wait for your instructor. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your lesson, as late arrivals cannot always be accommodated. Please note that for safety reasons members of the public are not allowed to teach. What to wear Remember to bring gloves, wear long sleeves and full length trousers loose enough to go over your boots. Lessons and recreational sessions take place in all weather conditions, so please wear something suitable. With expert tuition from our fully qualified instructors, the sky s your limit. 4 SPECIALIST SESSIONS specialist sessions SPECIALIST SESSIONS specialist sessions Ramps and Rail Nights The fun box, rail slides and ramps are available for boarders and skiers on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings from 8 10pm. Helmets must be worn. N.B. on Wednesday and Sunday evenings the trainer slope is dedicated to ramps and rails ONLY for the ultimate set up with no lessons on the slope. Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday 8-10pm per person (Juniors 13.00) Coffee Mornings* (Ski and Snowboard) Learn and improve your skiing or snowboarding under the watchful eye of one of our qualified instructors. Sessions last for two hours with a break for refreshments. A sociable and relaxed way to spend your morning. ABILITIES: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10.00am - 12 midday Beginner / nursery, trainer and main slopes per session (Premier Members 6.00 per session) Helmets must be worn for all snowboard lessons. Afternoon Tea Ski* A sociable and relaxed way to learn or improve your skiing under the watchful eye of one of our qualified instructors. Sessions include a break for refreshments. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1.00pm pm ABILITIES: Beginner / nursery, trainer and main slopes per session. Special rate for over 50 s of Personal Performance* These popular sessions are great for skiers, who want to improve their technique and skills, so as to move their skiing onto new levels. Excellent for wannabe ski instructors or current instructors seeking further training. Adaptive Skiing* Tuesday evenings 8.00pm pm per person per session For those with special needs, we hold regular adaptive skiing sessions. These sessions are fully run by the British Ski Club for the Disabled, a registered charity with over 20 years experience. Adaptive skiing is held once a month on a Saturday afternoon. In addition, we can also provide specialist adaptive instructions within the ski school, with one of our fully qualified adaptive ski instructors. Intermediate/Advanced Ski Workshop* Take your skiing to new heights under the instruction of Britain s premier ski instructors. Our special courses will help you expand your talent and excel on the slopes. Race Training First Sunday of each month 10.00am pm per person including lunch and refreshments Whether you wish to become the next Alain Baxter or just wish to improve your race technique; this is your chance! Join one of our race club coaches to either experience ski racing for the first time or to hone your race day technique. Learn to focus, prepare and compete! Use our race training sessions to take your skiing to the limit and beyond. Saturday 8am - 10am & Wednesday 6pm - 8pm (All ages) Monday 8pm - 10pm (Adults only) Adults, Juniors (12-16yrs) or 6.00 Members Please note that helmets must be worn during all sessions Race Training Membership If you only want to come to race training, then why not take advantage of our special membership? Big Foot Ski Club (3-12 years) For children aged 3 12, our Big Foot Ski Club sessions are held at weekends, with groups graded according to ski ability. There is a one-off joining fee of 3.50 per person, which includes an Award Booklet (badges are an additional 1.50). GROUP LESSON CONTENT EXIT AWARD White Introduction to skiing. 1 Yellow A Learn how to stop and control your speed. Yellow B Learn how to change direction on the nursery slope. 2 Green A Introduction to trainer slope and ski lift Green B Using trainer lift and safely descending from 3 exit 1 and 2 on the trainer slope. Blue Using trainer slope from the top. Continuing improving your turns and learning how to 4 make plough parallel turns. Purple Learning to safely descend the main slope. 5 Continue to develop the plough parallel so that skis begin the turn in the plough and end in a parallel. Red Develop versatility and agility in your skiing. 6 Learn to make long and short parallel turns so you can control your speed on different slopes } BRONZE Now you can work on completing the rest of the awards. 7 SILVER Learn to carve, jump, syncro ski and take part in races 8 GOLD and have fun on your skis! You ll learn how to use your 1 equipment safely, develop your balance and stance and toe edge sideslipping on the nursery slopes. B Learn to control your descent. Heel edge sideslipping, diagonal sideslipping. 2 Learn to transfer pressure to the front or back foot to control the direction of the board and receive an introduction to the rope tow. C Introduction to the trainer slope button lift. Further development of falling leaf. 3 Practice hockey stops and J turns, learn to change direction and control your speed using sideslipping and steering. D Learn to perform basic turns heel to toe edge. Develop ability to cross the fall-line 4 and use skidding and turns to control your speed *NB All snowboarding is subject to a min. height 120cms, min foot size 13 (children s). This is a relaxed fun session with one of our experienced coaches. We have two groups one for the skiers and one for the boarders. The sessions are designed to introduce new riders into how to perform basic tricks, use the fun box and receive an introduction to rail slides. Our coaches will use easy progressions to help make your transition into freestyle easy and painless. Sunday 4.00pm pm & 6.00pm pm ABILITY A confident user in the trainer and main slope Adults 20.00, Junior (Premier Members 6.00) Please note that helmets must be worn during these sessions. Ski Bobs Go-karts on skis, no experience necessary Enjoy the thrill of our ski bobs at just 3.95 for 30 minutes. Please note that our ski bobs are subject to availability and we suggest you book early to avoid disappointment. And Also... We have instruction available for the GCSE option, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Scout/Guide badges. We have a schools and youth group programme available, just ask for details.

First work up an appetite on the slopes with either an hour s skiing or snowboarding with a qualified instructor or 30 minutes ski bobbing. Then enjoy your birthday meal in the log cabin. Choose from a selection of chicken nuggets, cod burger, jumbo sausage or veggie burger, all served with fries. If you re a competent skier or snowboarder, and meet The Recreational Standard, you can enjoy the main slope or the trainer slope unsupervised. Our slopes are open all day, every day and skis, snowboards and boots are supplied inclusive of the price. We will ask you to complete a short questionnaire before you start just to check you meet The Recreational Standard. Juniors will need to have theirs signed by a parent or guardian. General Conditions and regulations Gloves, full-length trousers and long sleeve tops must be worn at all times. Instruction is only permissible by qualified personnel authorised by Wycombe Summit. Minimum standards for recreational usage are: Trainer slope: Skiing able to perform linked plough turns Snowboarding toe / heel traverse to stop. Main slope: Skiing linked plough swings Snowboard linked basic turns. All slope users must be prepared to demonstrate their competence when asked to do so by slope staff. All users must be capable of using the ski lift unaided. Junior rates apply up to and including age 16. All visitors must obey the safety code displayed on the premises. No recreational skiing / snowboarding is allowed on the nursery slopes. Helmets are compulsory for all users of race training, ramps, rails and funbox etc. and all Snowboarding lessons. These are available from the boot room at no extra charge for all users. No rental skis are allowed on the ramps, except when under the supervision of Wycombe Summits instructors. Visitors must follow FIS code of conduct and adhere to all signage. Wycombe Summit accepts no responsibility for personal injury or loss or damage to property that may occur whilst at the centre. Wycombe Summit reserves the right to refuse admission or to terminate a person s use of the facility without refund or explanation. If you are unable to ski or ride in control, then we reserve the right to deny your use of the slope without refund. There is no discount for use of your own equipment, but you do so at your own risk When you ve worked up an appetite, our Café/Bar is the ideal venue to chill out. Lessons & Holiday Camps Bookings for skiing and snowboarding lessons can be made by post, telephone or fax, accompanied by full payment. Payment can be made by cash or cheque (with valid guarantee card) and we also accept all major credit cards. All lesson prices include equipment hire. We reserve the right to rearrange or cancel lessons in unusual circumstances. We cannot issue refunds for lessons or courses cancelled within 24 hours prior to start time. In cases where a doctors certificate is submitted or when Wycombe Summit deems it unsafe for you to ski or snowboard, we reserve the right to give a cancellation refund or a credit on your booking. Lessons will be reduced in length of time if pre-booked minimum numbers are not met. Holiday activity sessions are dependent on the weather. Continue to the top of hill and Wycombe Summit is on the right. FROM JUNCTION 4 OF THE M40 : Via London or Oxford - take the slip road onto the roundabout. Take the A404 signposted to High Wycombe. Go straight ahead at traffic lights and follow High Wycombe signs round the roundabout. As dual carriageway descends towards High Wycombe town centre get into right hand lane. At traffic lights turn right, signposted to RAF Daws Hill and Flackwell Heath. Wycombe Summit Dry Ski Centre is signposted on the left after about 2 miles, turn left into Abbey Barn Lane. Follow road under the motorway and Wycombe Summit is on the left as road starts to go down the hill.
