3 Family Friendly If you re happy at home then you re happy at work. These working policies are designed to be as flexible and family friendly as possible. If you can t work around us, we ll do our best to work around you! BUPA Benefit Kainos employees with BUPA membership can claim a maternity cash benefit of 150 after you or your partner gives birth. Employers for Childcare Vouchers If you re a parent, you ll find our childcare voucher scheme is a flexible, easy and tax efficient way to pay for childcare. If you sign up, we ll deduct the cost of childcare vouchers from your gross salary each month. This means you can save up to per month on registered childcare costs. Flexible Working Time Policy You can choose your start and finish time as long as you work around our core hours, in agreement with your manager, meeting project needs and of course fulfilling your contracted hours. 2 of 13

4 Working From Home You can choose to work up to 3 days per week from home, in agreement with your manager and while meeting project needs. Part Time Opportunities We understand that some people may be looking for a part-time opportunity that fits around their other commitments and so offer part-time working whenever possible. Enhanced Maternity Leave Our maternity pay package increases the longer you work with us: Under 2 years: statutory maternity pay 2 to 5 years: 13 weeks full pay + up to 26 weeks at SMP basic rate Over 5 years: 20 weeks full pay + up to 19 weeks at SMP basic rate Enhanced Paternity Leave If you ve been working with us for at least 2 years continuously, you are entitled to paternity leave, the first 5 days of which are on full pay. 3 of 13

5 Financial Benefits Financially, you ll enjoy perks that go beyond your monthly salary. We ve put together a package of financial incentives designed to help you manage your money day-to-day, like saving on travel costs, and give you a more secure future, in the form of a group personal pension plan. Group Personal Pension Plan Our Contributory Pension Plan matches your contributions of up to 5% of your salary the Finance team have more details. The scheme also offers Life Assurance of 3 times your basic salary. Private Medical Insurance All staff get PMI free as part of their package after 2 years of continuous service, subject to scheme rules. If you d like to join the scheme and have less than 2 years service, we can offer you membership at our preferential corporate rate. You can also include your spouse and children and no medical or family medical history is needed. 4 of 13

6 Income Protection Cover After 2 years of continuous service, your income will be protected under this companywide scheme. This means that if you experience incapacity due to illness or an accident that prevents you from returning to your job, this insurance will pay a percentage of your salary after 26 weeks absence and may continue until your normal retirement date or until you are fit to return to work. No medical or family history is required. Pensions Clinic We retain an Independent Financial Advisor who you are welcome to consult at any time by telephone or ask the HR team for more details. Our IFA will be in the office regularly and available for personal consultation the HR team will let you know when this is happening. Travel Loan You can take advantage of a loan to buy your annual train/bus ticket this is at zero interest and is up to the value of 5,000 per year. Translink TaxSmart Scheme By signing up to TaxSmart, Translink s annual bus travel card, you can save up to 32% on annual bus travel. TaxSmart works through a salary sacrifice scheme. 5 of 13

7 Health and Wellbeing Benefits While you re looking after our projects and clients, we want to look after you. Check out the health and wellbeing benefits that go with working at Kainos and, if you need to, book your check up. Health Checks We re working with the charity Action Cancer, making a donation for each person who takes advantage of a free health check. Health checks will be available annually and the HR team will be in touch with more information. Eye Care You re entitled to a free eye test every year and 55 towards the cost of glasses if they are needed for monitor use. Winter Flu Vaccination We ll give you a voucher to present to your local Boots store to get the winter flu vaccination free of charge. Carecall You have 24/7 access to Carecall, who provide emotional and wellbeing support through trained counsellors. Whether you have a personal or work related issue, you can call or arrange face-to-face sessions with trained counsellors at any time. You can contact Carecall in confidence on of 13

8 Fruit Bowl You re welcome to help yourself from the fruit bowl in the main kitchen in Upper Crescent and Mount Charles these are restocked twice a day. Appointments During Working Hours We can be flexible enough to accommodate appointments that have to be arranged during working hours if you can make up the time missed at another point. Please ask your manager if you need time off for an appointment. Cycle To Work Scheme You re encouraged to take advantage of our Cycle to Work scheme, which enables you to hire a bike and equipment through a VAT-free scheme, for use commuting to and from work. The scheme works through a salary sacrifice arrangement whereby the cost of hire is deducted from your salary each month and before tax and National Insurance deductions. The maximum value of equipment that can be hired is 1,000 per person. Bike Racks You can park your bike securely and for free in the Upper Crescent basement car park. 7 of 13

9 Social Benefits We re a fairly social bunch and we believe that getting together helps us all to work better as a team. Team Nights Out The company will treat each team to a night out, usually once a year, to celebrate the completion of a project or a portion of a project. Christmas Party At Christmas, all staff are treated to a festive meal, entertainment and a subsidised bar by the company. You can also take advantage of free transport to and from the venue. Summer BBQ Every summer, you re welcome to bring your family along to enjoy free food and entertainment, along with a subsidised bar. Free transport to the venue and home again is also provided. Social Committee Our Social Committee organises frequent activities such as pub quizzes and beer or wine tasting events. Pay Day Drinks On the last Friday of every month (day after pay day), you re invited to enjoy pay day drinks at a local bar. Your first two drinks are on Kainos and nibbles are also provided. 8 of 13

10 Giving Back and Charity We want to be a socially responsible and sustainable company that gives back to the communities in which it works. So we ve put in place a few initiatives that will help to achieve our aims. We also want to help you to be more charitable and socially aware, so if you want to, we can help you to give to charity more easily. Tech Outreach This is how we reach into schools and communities to use technology as a tool to develop valuable skills. It s also about emphasising the importance of digital awareness to those with power over our education systems. We ll be working with partners such as the Prince s Trust and Code Club to develop relationships with schools throughout all of our office locations and participate in events such as: Culture Tech, BelTech, SXSW, Lego League and many more. Kainos will fund up to 1 day per staff member to participate in Tech Outreach activities. Work Experience Our interactive and stimulating work experience programme for schools provides a real insight into what it s like to work in IT and the various projects that Kainos delivers. 9 of 13

11 CodeCamp This is an initiative for high school students and is designed to bridge the gap between school-taught ICT and real-life software development. During the course, participants learn about how software is designed, built and tested. They are introduced to the leadership and project management framework that supports the development of digital solutions. Most of all, they get an inside view of what it s like to develop a career as a Software Engineer. Give As You Earn We can help you to Give As You Earn, which means you can donate to the registered charity of your choice by salary sacrifice. Doing this before tax and National Insurance deductions means your contributions are not affected. Charity Committee Every year, we collectively choose two charities to support and organise events to raise funds for these charities. We also promote and encourage you to support ad hoc charity events such as Movember, Kainos Bake Off, coffee mornings, white collar boxing and many more. 10 of 13

Skills For Me The Skills For Me scheme is a personal learning scheme whereby Kainos will allocate a pot of money to each staff member to spend on personal learning and development activities outside their work/jobs/kainos. Reward and Recognition Scheme Your manager or a peer can nominate you for an award that recognises your contribution. If you know anyone who is deserving of extra recognition, they could be enjoying a nice bottle of wine, meal voucher, cinema tickets or Amazon gift card. Long Service Awards After 5 and 10 years of continuous service, you receive a gift of your choosing. After 20 years service, you ll receive a gift worth waiting for - ask anyone who has received it! 11 of 13

13 Holidays You get 35 days holiday in total that is 25 days annual leave and 10 statutory holidays.you can also buy up to 10 extra days holiday or sell 5 days each year. Refer a Friend If you recommend a friend who is successful in joining us, you will receive a payment of 3,000. Training and Development Our commitment to ongoing professional development means that we offer support to staff through on-the-job training, professional certification and further studies. We encourage staff to keep up to date with industry and relevant professional bodies and will pay for professional memberships or subscriptions e.g. The Institution of Engineering and Technology. Additionally our Corporate Pluralsight subscription allows staff to access a huge amount of online learning materials to complement the more traditional learning. Staff regularly attend conferences across the globe and come back to work and share their learning, allowing the wider Kainos community to benefit. Staff Ideas Your ideas and insight are the lifeblood of Kainos, so we re introducing a system whereby ideas and suggestions can be shared and evaluated. Ideas that are successfully implemented or developed will be acknowledged, recognised and rewarded. Free Tea and Coffee Breaks Free tea, coffee and milk are available in all kitchens. 12 of 13

14 Shower Facilities Separate male and female showers and changing rooms are available for staff use in Mount Charles beside Systems. Flour Power If you want to stay in the office for lunch, sandwiches are available to buy on-site.
