I have been teaching in the central valley for 12 years. In addition to teaching for Sylvan Union School District I have also taught adapted aquatics for 10 years; coordinated 8 adapted bicycle camps; and volunteered in an adapted water ski program for 8 years. I also help coordinate the Central Valley Consortium on Adapted Physical. I graduated from CSU, Chico in Yes, I was a re-entry student who spent a great deal of time working in the private sector before returning to school. While, at Chico I earned my BA in Kinesiology Suma Cum Laude with honors, as well as my teaching credentials. But more importantly I gained a great deal of practical knowledge and experience under the instruction and guidance of Rebecca Lytle, Marci Pope, and others. Michael has worked as an administrator, teacher and coach over the past 20 years. He is currently working as a full-time Adapted Physical Specialist for Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. Mike joined the State Council on Adapted Physical in 2015 as a. Personal: Mike is the proud husband of Sylvia and father to Miguel(19), Elena(17), Joaquin(7) and Cruz(3). He spends most of his time coaching youth and high school sports and is involved in professional clinician work for coaches. When not working or coaching Mike enjoys raising his children with wife Sylvia and spending time with family and friends. She is currently going back to Cal Poly Pomona to obtain her master s degree in Adapted Physical. Tina began her career as a general P.E. teacher in Torrance where she taught for one year. After teaching a year of general P.E. she realized that teaching Adapted Physical was what she wanted to do. Her first Adapted P.E. Specialist job was for Los Angeles County Office of (LACOE) where she serviced one School District and five County classes for five years. She then went to work for Lawndale Elementary School District were she taught Adapted P.E. for three years. Currently, Tina is working with DirectEd Specialized Services as their Adapted P.E. Specialist Lead supporting and supervising other Adapted P.E. specialist, as well as teaching her own Adapted P.E. classes. Tina Henges Personal: Tina was born and raised in Torrance, California. She attended South Torrance High School where she met her husband, Mike. Outside of teaching Adapted P.E., Tina enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as serving at her church. She then attended the Adapted Physical Authorization Summer Program at Chico State for two consecutive summers and received her APE Added Authorization in May Vanessa taught two years of general education Physical. Although she enjoyed every second of those two years, her real passion was working with students with disabilities. She began teaching for Irvine Unified School District in August 2014 as an Adapted Physical Specialist. She is grateful to work with such great teachers and students in Irvine, and is excited be apart of an innovative growing school district. In 2013, she received her Tier I Administrative Credential and is currently completing her Tier II program. 7 Professional: Brittani Ikemoto received her Bachelor s degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton in In 2015 Brittani received her single subject credential in physical education with an added on authorization in adapted physical education at California State University, Long Beach. After receiving a credential in PE and APE, she took a long-term substitute position as an APE teacher for Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District (PVPUSD) and a part time job as an APE teacher for DirectEd Specialized Services (DESS). Shortly after substituting she started her career as a full-time APE teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for the school year. This is her first year teaching and she has been the Future Professional Representative for the State Council Adapted Physical (SCAPE) for two years now. Brittani Ikemoto Future Professional Personal: Brittani was born and raised in Torrance, California. She loves spending time with her family, friends and fiancé Alex. Brittani is currently enjoying her first year teaching and planning for her wedding day. Brittani also enjoys going on trips to the desert to relax. She also loves helping others. Marci has worked public schools for teaching adapted physical education and continues to enjoy playing with children and collaborating with adults for inclusive physical activity settings.
