The Missouri River shall be the dividing line between the east and west regions. Pursuant to Article VI, Section 2, all members of the Association shall receive a ballot for this election. The ballot is to be returned in a self-addressed envelope. 2 Bo Beck I am presently the Superintendent, K-12 Principal, Special Education Director, and Activities Director of the Eureka School District and the Athletic Director of the Eureka/Bowdle sports cooperative. I received both my Bachelor s Degree (B.S.) in Economics/Education and my Master s Degree (M.Ed.) in Educational Administration from SDSU in Brookings. In June of 2007, I received my Superintendent Endorsement from the University of Sioux Falls and in June of 2010, I will receive my Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree. I have fourteen (14) years of experience in the field of education and administration. I began my career in education at Leola High School where I was a classroom teacher and basketball/track coach. I spent six years at Midland High School as a CEO, principal, classroom teacher, and basketball/football coach. I have been employed by the Eureka School District for the last six years. I believe that both fine arts and athletic activities play an important role in the development of our youth in South Dakota. The lessons learned on a playing field or at practice, participating in a concert, becoming involved in student council, or even traveling to/from events help to develop our students into tomorrow s leaders. Combine this involvement in activities with excellent classroom instruction and we have produced well-rounded and sound individuals that will be successful in life. With this goal in mind, I would like to use my experience and involvement with the SDHSAA and become the next member of the SDHSAA Board of Directors Thank You! Joel Jorgenson I began my educational career in 1985 in Warner as a teacher, head football coach, assistant basketball and assistant track coach. After three years in Warner I accepted a position with the Arlington School District in 1988 as a teacher and head football coach, assistant basketball coach and also the head golf coach when we started the golf program. In 1998 I became the Superintendent of the Arlington School District. In addition, I was a high school volleyball and basketball official for 12 years while in Arlington. After 14 years in Arlington as a teacher, coach and superintendent, I next accepted the superintendent position with the Hamlin School District in 2002 where I m now in my eighth year as the superintendent of the Hamlin School District. I have always believed and lived by a common sense approach in solving issues. My wife Janet and I will celebrate our 26 th anniversary this summer. We have two daughters, our oldest daughter Jill and her husband Cole live in Aberdeen where Jill is a 7 th Grade Science teacher and junior high coach and our youngest daughter Jade will be entering her senior year at South Dakota State University this fall. The SDHSAA has provided opportunities for so many young adults including our daughters. During their high school careers I feel the lessons that they learned by participating in high school activities were an important part of their high school education. If given the opportunity I would be honored to serve the school districts and students of our state on the SDHSAA Board. Thank you!

3 Mike Ruth Mike Ruth has been in the field of education for 22 years. After graduating from SDSU, his educational career began in the Midland School District in He then continued on to Hoven for nine years as a teacher and coach. Mike then pursued an administrative degree at NSU and earned the principal/athletic director position in the Doland School District in Highmore was next in 2002 to assume his first superintendent position. Then in 2006, he moved to his current position in the Miller School District as superintendent. Mike s background includes involvement in various fine arts activities. He is an avid supporter of the fine arts; he has served as a student council advisor, and managed many other cocurricular activities. He has coached at the class B level in Midland, Hoven, Doland and at the class A level in Miller. Football, basketball, track, and baseball are various activities he has coached. Mike has officiated volleyball and basketball at the B, A, and AA level and has been selected as a state tournament official eight times over his career. Mike has served on many educational boards including: Teacher Placement Advisory Council, South Dakota Coalition of Schools, SDHSAA basketball advisory board, and Superintendent Evaluation Committee as well as community groups such as Miller Civic and Commerce, Miller Housing Committee, and the Methodist Church Parish Council. As a member of the SDHSAA Board of Directors, Mike would work diligently to ensure the continued success of the organization. He has three children: Kaiser 7, Tyson 6, and Cameron 4. He would work hard to see that the co-curricular activities he was involved in continue to thrive for his children to experience. Rick Weber Rick is the Superintendent and the Activities Director at Flandreau Public Schools. He started his career in education at Arlington from and moved to the Flandreau School system where he has been for the past 20 years. Rick received his undergraduate and Masters degree from South Dakota State University and his Specialist Degree from the University of Sioux Falls. Rick has coached boys & girls basketball, football and track as well as being an official in basketball and football. He is also the Head Umpire for the Class A State Track Meet. Rick has been honored as the Athletic Director of the Year in 2006, Boys Basketball Coach of the Year in 1997 and nominated for the NIAA State Award of Merit in He is currently on the Executive Committee of the SDIAAA as he was the President of the SDIAAA during the school year. With the SDIAAA, Rick has been the Region 3 Representative ( ) and the Hall Of Fame Committee ( ). He has also taught the ASEP Coaching Principles class at SDSU from and is a Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA). My wife, Karen, and I have 4 children, ages 17-24, who have been involved in all school activities while they attended Flandreau Public Schools.

Division I includes those schools which comprise 1/3 of the ADM for students in grades Pursuant to Article VI, Section 2, all members of the Association shall receive a ballot for this election. The ballot is to be returned in a self-addressed envelope. 5 Gene Brownell Gene Brownell, a graduate of Henry High School ( 64) and Northern State University (BS 68/MS 77) and served in the United State Army from He has been the Athletic Director at Aberdeen Central High School for the past twelve years. Prior to this, Brownell taught and coached for twenty-seven years. His experiences included stops at Tulare, Herreid, and Kimball High Schools before arriving at Aberdeen Central. Brownell has been with the Aberdeen Public Schools for the past 32 years. Mark Meile Mark W. Meile is in his 17 th year as Coordinator of Athletics and Physical Education for the Sioux Falls Public Schools, which includes three high schools, five middle schools and 24 elementary schools. Prior to his current position, Mark was Coordinator of Athletics at Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School for two years; Director of Athletics for grades 7-12 at Brandon Valley High School as well as a physical education teacher and head boys basketball coach for five years. Mark also served as a teacher and coach at Salem Public Schools for five years; teacher and coach at Bridgewater High School for three years and a teacher and coach at Viborg High School for one year.
