3 G Cloud Services 1 Introducing miggle Since 2007 miggle have helped media owners deliver digital projects, supplementing and supporting their existing teams with the right skills and resources. In the early days, this was largely based around providing editorial features and content management services. However, in the last three years it has become almost exclusively focused on delivering projects via Drupal, working alongside other specialist agencies. At miggle we believe in our clients freedom to operate, so they can be as selfsufficient as they choose to be. Our experienced team of 10 developers, producers and content managers feel empowered to make this your reality and help you get there. Our use of Drupal, combined with an adherence to published coding standards, community engagement and a full utilization of core code and contributed modules all underpinned by solid deployment workflows also complements this. 2 Our Drupal services We offer Drupal services in: Discovery Upgrades Theming Development Support and Maintenance Drupal discovery service We offer a discovery service to capture your Drupal development project requirements. Through stakeholder interviews, group workshops and technical reviews of relevant existing systems we will investigate areas including: 3

4 Business Objectives - Value and Benefits to Users - Product Strategy & Direction - Branding and Design Requirements - Key Product Capabilities - Performance Requirements - Content Requirements - Distribution Requirements. The output of this service is a Product Requirements Document (PRD) that can be used as basis of a brief, a Request for Proposal, an Invitation to Tender or an Invitation to Quote. With the addition of final timelines and costings, it can be used as a Schedule of Works for a project that should comprehensively outline what is to be built and designed. Drupal upgrade service When planning a Drupal upgrade on your website it is essential to assess the impact on all components of your Drupal installation. Our upgrade service is mad up of two parts a discovery service and then the actual upgrade itself. Prior to an upgrade, our upgrade discovery service, carried out by our team of Drupal experts will scope a full Drupal version upgrade for your website and to output a timed and costed migration plan to upgrade you to the new version of Drupal. The areas covered by the discovery service include: Modules (Core, Contributed and Custom) Theme Views Content Custom Code. The resulting upgrade plan will be sufficiently detailed that it could be presented to another agency or internal team to carry out the upgrade itself. Drupal theming service Miggle s Drupal experts can meet all your responsive Drupal theming requirements. Our usual approach is to use a responsive base theme as a starting point for enhanced future proofing. However we can equally well produce custom themes should you so require. We can carry out Drupal theming work based on: Client supplied designs or from those produced by our preferred design partners to client specifications. (Designs should be supplied as layered graphics files with any required fonts included) 4

5 Client supplied markup (HTML/CSS) or commissioned markup written by us. All of our Drupal theming and development work complies with best practices and established standards as defined by Drupal development service We have wide-ranging Drupal site-building expertise. Drupal support and maintenance service We offer both ad hoc support and support and maintenance services. Ad- hoc support Ad-hoc support usually sees us supporting clients on a reactive basis as and when required. Generally the kind of tasks that are covered under this type of support are those which occur infrequently, (e.g. where content staff either forget how to carry out a task), or which involve fixing minor bugs, making minor tweaks or amendments to Drupal views, blocks or rules, or amending user roles/permissions. In practice we find that this sort of support rarely needs a senior developer and so it is priced accordingly. On our ad-hoc support contracts the time is always bought up front, but the hours have a shelf life of double their term. Drupal deployment and maintenance 5

6 It s essential with open-source solutions to make sure the site is regularly deployed to keep up with patches and upgrades, which will heighten site security. If the site is hosted either internally or externally, either miggle or a client s internal web team could take care of this, but in the external scenario it s likely we d need to provide some training if this was to be done by the in-house web team. The options for deployments are: 1. We manage all deployments across environments, whether hosted internally or externally. 2. We train you (or share/discuss best practice if you have a methodology in place) so that you can manage deployments. 7 Brighton and Hove City Council Working with the council s internal team and design and user experience consultants Clearleft, we themed and built the entirety of the new corporate site in early 2013, which provides access to information on 800 services, with a focus on the successful online completion of key tasks for those who live and work in the city. As part of the project we also: Built out a responsive theme, Advised on and implemented social media integration, Improved editorial workflows Helped advance the internal team s ability to deploy the solution across multiple hosted environments on the Acquia platform. We have also worked on other council microsites, such as the Safe in the City partnership ( which focuses on tackling crime and anti-social behaviour. NHS MIggle worked with NHS Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to develop a range of services based on Drupal and Apache Solr. Over 2013 we designed and built:- I. A public facing website, which integrates a service finder and A-Z of conditions syndicated from NHS Choices II. A staff extranet III. An emergency care app for GPs IV. An A&E awareness campaign website based on the Quiz module 7
