1 1 Eligibility Brushstrokes from the Soul Prospectus Seattle Co-Arts 67 th Annual Juried Show Mercer Gallery, April 17-June 2, 2017 Seattle Co-Arts juried members in good standing who have attended at least three meetings in the last 12 months (as of and including the January 2017 general meeting) are eligible to enter the 2017 juried show. Fall and Spring local workshops and Fall and Spring Samish Paintouts also qualify as meetings for eligibility purposes. The show chairs are not eligible to receive awards. Any painting accepted and shown in a previous Seattle Co-Arts Juried show is not eligible for entry into the 2017 show. Specifications Each artist may enter two paintings. All entries must be the original work of the artist, executed without the supervision of an instructor, not based on any copyrighted material and completed within the last two years. All painting, drawing, and collage mediums are acceptable. The Mercer Gallery contract states that artwork will be judged on aesthetic quality, physical suitability for display and appropriateness of the content at the proposed site. The City reserves the right to refuse work the day of hanging. This means no frontal nudity or anything inappropriate for a public area where children are present. Approximately 60 images will be selected for display. Paintings must be between 11x14 inches and 36x48 inches. If there are a number of very large paintings, this will, of course, reduce the number featured. All digital images will be kept on file with the show committee until paintings are delivered to the venue. All paintings must be exactly as

2 2 they appear on the image. No substitutions accepted and all work must remain in place until the end of show. Digital Entry Submissions While much of the information requested below will also be recorded on the entry form, receiving it in the requested format is necessary for creation of entry charts, juror chart, gallery list, receiving and pickup charts, etc. All images must be jpg files and should be named as: artist last name, first name, title. If possible, send all images and information in ONE to Beth Betker at Please size your images at 300ppi and 1800 pixels on longest side. Beth Betker has offered to resize your image after it is submitted if sizing is a challenge for you. Co-Arts members willing to help for approximately $15 per painting:

Art and Soul Photography, 2860 NW Market St., Seattle, Digital Canvas NW in Marysville, Cary Cartmill will pick up and deliver on Wednesdays at Christophers Framing, 537 Main St., Edmonds, Magic Photo, Highway 99, Edmonds, Presentation All artwork must be framed or have gallery wrapped edges and be ready to hang with a wire on the back about ¼ of the way from the top. The back of the painting must be clearly labeled with your name, title of the work, medium and price. Please also include your contact information. Promotion By submitting your work, you give Seattle Co-Arts permission to use your images for publicity purposes such as press releases, printed promotional materials, the Seattle Co-Arts website, and in other forms of social media. The artist will always be credited. Artists retain all rights to their work. Entry Fee and Form You may submit either one or two paintings for the $25.00 entry fee. Payment should be made by check payable to Seattle Co-Arts and received no later than Sunday, February 12, If you wish to

4 4 have your work considered for the postcard or the poster, you must submit it by January 30. Please see the entry form. Commission and Sales The Mercer Island Arts Council charges a 25% commission on all sales. All purchases will go through the front desk. The Gallery will collect the purchase price plus sales tax. An inventory of sales will be provided at the close of the show. Approximately two weeks following the close of the show, a check will be issued by the City Finance Office to Seattle Co-Arts for 75% of the sales. Co-Arts will then be responsible for disbursement to artists. Venue Seattle Co-Arts will hold the 2017 juried show at the Mercer Gallery in the Mercer Island Community & Event Center. It is a lovely site featuring stunning views of Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains with convenient parking and easy access. The Center is open seven days a week: Mon - Fri, 7 am 9:00 pm; Sat, 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Sun, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.
