2 Fourth Edition 2 November/December 2014 Dear Esmond Station Families, Hard to believe we are only one month away from the end of The first semester of our brand new school, Esmond Station, has flown by. I am very thankful for all of the help and support we have received to make this school a great one. I am also thankful to be working with all of you and your children. The greatest job in the world We have accomplished quite a bit, but there is always more to do Please take a moment to check out some of the upcoming events Esmond Station is doing to help support the school, community, and those in need. * Polar Express winter carnival will be taking place on Friday, December 5th from 5:30-7:30 There will be lots of different games, activities, and food Tickets are for sale now in the front office. The proceeds go straight to the classrooms for the teachers to spend on their students. * Esmond Station Food Drive- We will begin our food drive on December 5th at the Polar Express. Our food drive will run until December 17th. It will help support St. Rita s church and Impact of Southern AZ (formerly the Vail Food Bank) in assisting our families in need. * Angel Tree- Families can adopt an angel from our Christmas Tree in the front office. Gifts are to be returned to the front office by December 12th with the angel number attached. We are asking that gifts are not wrapped. * Thank you all for your support for the Fisher House Project. A special thanks to Mr. Fleming and some of his 7th grade students who worked really hard to organize and put on many different activities for Esmond to raise funds for the Fisher House. These students did such an amazing job, Esmond Station was one of the winners and is home to one of the American Flags that was flown over the United States Capitol * A final reminder that the students at Esmond Station are fortunate to have several programs to choose from. These extra programs are made possible because of our teachers, volunteers, and Tax Credit contributions. We understand that finances are tight during this time of year, but students directly benefit from your generosity and it is a tax write off. Some employers even match your contribution If you are interested in contributing to the Esmond programs please come into the front office and we can assist you. You may also visit the following web site: I would like to wish all of you a safe and Happy Holiday season. This is a great time of year for families to spend time together and learn more about each other. Please take some time to talk with your child(ren) and ask questions about what they have learned. Your Partner in Education Jerry Wood
