1 - RailClam Descrition RailClam TS diode arrays are secifically designed to rotect sensitive comonents which are connected to high-seed data and transmission lines from overvoltage caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge), CDE (Cable Discharge Events), and EFT (electrical fast transients). The unique design incororates surge rated, low caacitance steering diodes and a TS diode in a single ackage. During transient conditions, the steering diodes direct the transient current through the internal TS diodes safely to to ground. The RClam 72N is constructed using Semtech s rorietary EPD rocess technology. The EPD rocess rovides low oerating voltage (2.) with significant reductions in leakage current and caacitance over silicon-avalanche diode rocesses. It features high surge (I=A, t=8/2μs) and ESD (+/-2k er IEC 6--2) caability with low claming voltage. The RClam72N is in a SLP2N2 ackage. It measures. x 2. x.6. The leads are finished with lead-free NiPdAu. The flow through design is otimized for use on 2-layer c boards. Each device will rotect u to twelve high-seed lines. The combination of small size, low caacitance, and high ESD and surge caability makes them ideal for use in alications such as next generation color LCD dislays and LDS interfaces. 5 RClam72N Alications Information Device Connection Otions for Protection of Twelve High-Seed Data Lines Pin Configuration (To iew) This device is designed to rotect u to twelve highseed data lines. It has been otimized for use on LDS interfaces. The RClam72N is constructed using Semtech s rorietary EPD rocess technology. The EPD rocess rovides low stand-off (turn-on) voltages with significant reductions while maintaining good claming characteristics and high surge caability. They feature a true oerating voltage of 2. volts. The characteristics of the RClam72N eliminate the need to add an external resistor for rotection of LDS interfaces. Each in (-2) is internally connected to a rotection circuit. The ins are slightly staggered to allow clearance for routing traces u to. wide with sacing between traces. This flow through design means that the RClam72N can be used on PC boards with as few as 2-layers. The device also features two center ground tabs. These ads rovide a low inductance ath for the surge current to ground. The low inductance ground ath is esecially critical for reducing the claming voltage during ESD events.
