1 IMI Diploma in Data Business... Leading to an MSc in Data Business PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
2 Context & Rationale for the Programme Suite Companies that use advanced data analytics effectively experience financial performance with profit margins in the range of 19 73% higher than companies that don t effectively use advanced analytics (Deloitte, 2007) This suite of Data Business Programmes has been developed in ongoing partnership with - ÂÂThrough increased data availability and information processing capability companies are expected to be transformed into an Intelligent Enterprise, which will enable them to become more agile, flexible, lean and efficient. ÂÂYet, executives are only beginning to grasp the realities of how this transformation can take place. A recent study of 3000¹ executives found that top performing organisations were twice as likely to use analytics, but it was also found that two of the top three impediments to becoming more data driven included: (i) a lack of understanding of how to use analytics to improve the business and (ii) the lack of skills internally in the line of business. The MSc in Data Business aims to help organizations overcome these hurdles. ÂÂFurthermore, recent Forrester reports in the area of business intelligence have shown very high demand for applications and skills, leading to increased career opportunities for professionals in the domain. 1 LaValle et al. (2011), Big Data Analytics and the Path From Insights to Value 2
