2 Job Description Post Title Purpose Reporting to Salary Level Team Leader in Mathematics To teach Mathematics, providing engaging and appropriate learning opportunities and model good practice. To lead in the development of other teachers through planning, training, peer review and meetings. To promote and maintain high standards for all learners in a key stage.to assess student progress and promote achievement across a key stage. To plan for the vision becoming a reality through innovation and development in the Mathematics Faculty. To prepare lessons for classes up to A level based on a sound understanding of the learning needs of every student, modelling good practice for others. To develop schemes of work agreed within the Faculty and support others in following the schemes. To teach assigned classes using a range of appropriate resources and strategies including ICT to engage students. To have knowledge of the learners individual needs including high attainers and those who have SEND and plan accordingly. To assess and monitor student learning including giving verbal and written feedback which improve student progress. To establish and maintain a positive classroom climate which supports the achievement of every student. To promote high standards of behaviour and engagement by using the school s policy and agreed approaches. To set rigorous targets for all classes in your area of responsibility. To ensure that teaching in your area of responsibility is good and has an impact on student progress. To use internal data for tracking and to plan and oversee all necessary interventions. To participate in a rigorous process of Performance Management linked to the school and Faculty priorities. To participate in induction, training and team meetings leading training and development. To support the Head of Faculty to work to a common vision and purpose To maintain up to date knowledge of Mathematics teaching and of research and inspection findings.

3 To maintain knowledge of the relevant curriculum and course requirements at Keystage 3, GCSE and at AS/A2 level. To be able to communicate effectively, explaining and modelling mathematical ideas as required by all courses. Resources Additional Duties Support To use all resources effectively and efficiently, exercising care and judgement in their use. To establish and maintain an environment conducive to high expectations and To ensure that Health and Safety standards are met and that all necessary risk assessments are carried out and documented. To play a full part in the life of the school, to support its ethos and development. To comply with any reasonable request from a manager to undertake work of a similar level not specified in this job description. The postholder is expected to continue in his/her own professional development. 4 POST: Team Leader in Mathematics SELECTION CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Qualifications/ Training/ Knowledge: Experience: Skills: Aptitudes: Honours Graduate in Mathematics or other relevant degree with PGCE or equivalent. A record of Professional Learning relevant to the post over the last two years. Understanding of a range of strategies and pedagogy within mathematics teaching Teaching experience in Maths at secondary school level across a wide range of attainment up to GCSE, ideally two years or more, but we would consider a second year teacher. A clear understanding and successful experience of strategies to raise attainment, particularly at KS4. Experience of influencing other teachers to develop their practice. A confident and effective teacher, able to model outstanding practice. Able to lead and build an engaging climate and positive relationships with young people Leadership skills to engage and motivate others, as part of a coherent team. Competence in utilising a range of data to raise pupil performance. Interpersonal skills with young people and adults, with a balance of sensitivity and purpose. Personal organisation and administration to meet deadlines and work within school systems. Relentless in pursuit of improving standards. Committed to the success of every student and keen to seek solutions to meet this challenge. Reflective practitioner, keen to develop own practice as a teacher and as a leader.
