It creates system-directed picking tasks, priritized t meet demand and ptimized t minimize the time pickers spend traveling frm ne lcatin t anther. Pickers see their assigned picking tasks n their RF devices, presented in pririty sequence, ptinally balanced ver the day r scheduled based n rder pririty and carrier arrival time. Picking types and rules can vary based n yur perating requirements selected based n the warehuse, items and type f transactin. Picking raw materials fr manufacturing is nt necessarily the same as picking sales rders. There are fur basic types f picking - Discrete rder picking is n an rder-by-rder basis fr example, creating a paper pick-list fr materials t pick and mve t the prductin line r shipping dck. Batch picking (als referred t as Cluster Picking) is a lean warehusing practice helping yu t pick multiple rders in ne travel sequence, and srt them int unique cntainers while yu are picking. Bulk picking is a lean warehusing practice, cmbining multiple rders and separating them in a subsequent prcess fr example, if several rders need inventry frm the same pallet in ne lcatin, the system can generate a task t pick the entire quantity. Dcuments help srt the quantities and split them between rders later perhaps during packaging r even at the pint f delivery. 7 Hw QAD makes yu mre efficient Picking Optins There are three pen rders ready fr picking and shipping. Depending n the type f warehuse, yu can manage this prcess in ne f several ways. In a warehuse with a lt f different items, all stred in relatively small quantities, it may be mre efficient t simply g get everything yu need t fill a single rder r pre-shipper; put it n ne pallet r pack it int cntainer; then drp it at the shipping lane ready t be shipped. In ther situatins, yur peratin may be mre efficient if yu have yur team pick multiple rders picking the ttal quantity required f each item fr all the selected rders - maximizing prductivity and minimizing travel time. 8 Wave Selectin Wave planning helps yu grup rders fr a given day int waves fr picking, packing and shipping selecting rders t ptimize labr and resurce utilizatin, and increase efficiency. Fr example, yu may select rders by pririty, custmer, ship-t, carrier, r rute scheduling picking tasks t match truck arrivals. Especially in high-vlume applicatins warehuses with tens f thusands f SKU s and rder lines shipped per day - this dramatically imprves thrughput, increases prductivity and cuts cst. 10 Hw QAD imprves labr prductivity Wave Release Yu d nt send picking tasks t the pickers until yu release the wave. This helps imprve labr prductivity by giving yu time t ensure enugh inventry is in the pick lcatins prir t sending the peratrs n a pick tur. This synchrnizes all yur pickers and generates tasks fr each f them based n the unique rules yu have defined. In this example, UserA has a cart and picks eaches and bxes. 14 Hw QAD autmates warehuse tasks RF Devices Nw yu have released the wave, each f yur pickers has their instructins. They will pick these items, ne at a time until they finish all tasks. Ntice as yu cmplete each task, the inventry mves ut f strage and is temprarily placed in the picker s lcatin. Can yu see hw the first 10 items are nw in inventry at UserA? At any pint in time the supervisr has ttal visibility int what the pickers are ding what they have put n their trlley r frklift, and what items remain t be picked. G ahead and prcess all f the pick transactins fr the first rder WMS2. Ntice hw yu can put all the lse items eaches and bxes n the same pallet fr tracking. Rather than prcess the rest f these tasks individually, yu can use the Mvement Cnfirmatin Wrkbench t review all the pen picking tasks and cnfirm them in a batch useful if yu d nt have an RF device available. 20 Hw QAD simplifies shipping prcesses Shipping Lane In this demnstratin, yu mved all f the picked items t a staging area fr packaging prir t shipment. Yu can ship them directly frm here, r package them and then mve t the apprpriate shipping lane. Gather the shipments and mve them t the shipping lane. 24 Cnfirm Shipment Yu can cnfirm the shipment right frm the RF Device, r yu may have a supervisr wh cnfirms the shipment using yur standard shipping prcesses. They can review all pending shipments in the Shipping Center, and then cnfirm the nes that are ready t g. Either way this flags the items as shipped and ready t invice. Ntice yu have the ptin f creating individual invices ne fr each rder r creating a cnslidated invice. Yu can als calculate, review, and ptinally crrect, freight charges fr each rder during the shipment cnfirmatin prcess. Optinally yu can generate alerts t infrm management when rders ship. Dem 1. 28 Hw QAD streamlines internal distributin (Optinal) Distributin Orders If yu take rders and ship materials t ther sites in yur internal distributin netwrk, yu can use the same prcess. The nly difference is that yu typically begin with an Intersite Request. That will generate a Distributin Order, r yu can enter it manually. Frm there, it is the same prcess - generate a pick list, perfrm the picking tasks and ship the distributin rder based n the rules yu define fr yur warehuse. Yu can pick distributin rders ne by ne, r include them in a wave just like any ther rder. QAD Warehusing assigns picking tasks as yu saw befre in this case, the pick fr the items n a pallet ges t UserB, the frklift driver. Prcess the pick, build the lad and recrd the shipment.
