This MSc programme provides you with an opportunity to extend the knowledge and skills acquired on an undergraduate degree in mechanical, manufacturing or any other relevant engineering discipline. It also satisfies the academic requirements for eventual registration as a chartered engineer. We have also done well in the Guardian University Guide 2014, where general engineering at Greenwich was ranked second in the country for student satisfaction with teaching quality. Our Medway Campus is in the rapidly developing area of Chatham Maritime. The campus is home to three universities, making it a vibrant place to work, study and relax. There are three cafés, a pub, a gym, a sports hall and halls of residence. The Students Union University of Greenwich ( and Greenwich and Kent Students Unions Together ( co.uk), a partnership between SUUG and the students union at the University of Kent, organise a variety of sports and social activities on campus and run a number of student societies. 4 Key facts Attendance: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time; September or January start Entry requirements: You should have: An undergraduate degree at 2.2 or above in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, communications engineering/technology, or equivalent qualification. If you were educated in a language other than English and/or in a country where English speakers are in a minority, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) or an equivalent rating in another Secure English Language Test. Students without a first degree but with professional and vocational experience (for example incorporated engineer or chartered engineer status) may be considered if they demonstrate the potential to succeed on the programme. How to apply: Applications to postgraduate programmes should be made online at apply. There is no closing date for applications to postgraduate programmes, but many fill up quickly, so you are advised to apply early. You do not have to wait for first degree or other examination results.

5 Career opportunities This programme will open the door to many rewarding careers in a range of engineering sectors, such as the automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, energy, railway, sport and process industries. According to the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey, more than 80% of our graduates go on to work or study within six months. Teaching and assessment This programme is assessed in a variety of ways, including exams, assignments, oral presentations, written reports and individual and group project work, which will enable you to demonstrate a range of academic skills and attributes. Professional recognition This degree has been accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). It provides you with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an incorporated or chartered engineer. Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and these degrees are also more likely to be recognised in other countries that are signatories to international accords.
