2 .introduction Paris is the capital and the most populous city of France. It has an area of 105 km² (41 mi²) and a population in 2013 of 2,229,621 within the city limits. It is both a commune and department, and forms the centre and headquarters of the Île-de-France, or Paris Region, which has an area of 12,012 square kilometers (4,638 square miles) and a population in 2014 of 12,005,077, comprising 18.2 percent of the population of France. Paris has a typical Western European oceanic climate (Köppen climate classification: Cfb ) which is affected by the North Atlantic Current. The overall climate throughout the year is mild and moderately wet. The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Constructed in 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World s Fair, it was initially criticized by some of France s leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but it has become a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognisable structures in the world. 3 .the project Well, we love the Eiffel Tower as it is. But what if, it wasn t like that? How would the city of Paris be like? If it was you, how would you design it? What materials would you use?.competition goals As one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, the first goal of this International Competition is to design a new icon to the city of Paris. The architecture of this new structure should reflect contemporary design and historical tendencies. The proposal must not only attend to the specific function but the design should also take into consideration the urban insertion and impact geared towards creating a new perspective of the city. This competition hopes to achieve the following: To generate a balance between the real historical moment of the monument and nowadays. To find a design excellence between existing architecture and engineering with the project to be. Research, respond to and highlight the unique aspects of designing an original tower. To generate the discussion of ideas regarding the functionality of towers in relation with art and sculpture. Estimulate the employment of sustainable design in all aspects of the proposal.

4 .site location The project should respect the same site dimentions and context. The project should also take matter of the landscape context around the building, as one of the most visit sites in the world. 150m 350m zone of interest : 350m x 150m zone of the tower. Square. 125m x 125m The base area of the tower is only a limitation based on the existant project. Participants are allowed to change it as long it garantees the harmonie of the site. On the other hand, the Height of the project is limited to the existant proportions, as indicated on the following image. 5 .program and space use The program for this Competition to design a new Contemporary EIFFEL TOWER that should clearly include the following in the design proposal: three levels for visitors, with restaurants on the first and second levels. And an observatory on the level s upper platform at 276 m (906 ft) above the ground. Wifi Hotspot / Hub and Mobile Device Charging Points. Bicycle Parking Station with racks for at least 100 bicycle distributed on the base of the tower. Note: the restaurants plans are only a conceptual phase, no need to elaborate too much..general submission information All technical presentations are absolutely free to the choice of participants. However, it is highly recommended that the final submitted image include all necessary information of the main concept and zones of the design, such as: Plans, Sections, Sketches or perspectives The presentation should clearly explain the proposed design as well as the approach to the project. All information relating to organisation, material, treatment of the location and the design should be included when considered relevant. Participants choose a presentation approach that fits on a single (1) horizontal board with required zones clearly defined. Entrant s unique Registration Number should appear on the upper right side of the image. (Anonymously - without any names or markings, just the Unique Registration Number). And the Project Name and Number should appear on the upper left side of the image: #01 Eiffel Tower Note: In case of winning, the AIIC team may get in touch with the team to ask for medias in other formats then the one you submited, we advise you not to delete your files before the annoucement of the prizes..submission rules A single (01) board horizontal digital image with the detail listed below must be submitted by uploading a.jpg file in our website submission section and filling all information asked. A confirmation will be sent after you submit the file. Any additional textual or numerical descriptions should be incorporated into the graphical presentation of the project and expressed in English only. Image Format: A single JPG extension file, Max. File Size: 10 MB (10 Megabytes). Dimensions: 3500 width x 2600 height (pixels) or x inches or 92.6 x cm to 96dpi. File Name: The image file name must correspond to the unique registration number. (Example: jpg where represent the unique registration number assigned and sent to you by AIIC minutes after a successful registration).

6 .evaluation principals All projects will be evaluated based on the following principals: Balance between original and actual historical context Clarity, appropriate use and comprehensibility of the design. Use of space and perceive traffic flow within the space. Design s aesthetics and originality. Use of sustainable materials and concepts. Use of disabled access standards.jury This Architecture Idea International Competition will be judged by a serie of professionals including Architects. Check our website for details..evaluation and judging process The jury will thoroughly examine each proposal submitted and will reach a shortlist of winners. It will take into account all items in this briefing and all project evaluation criteria. The Jury s decision will be final as stated in the Competition s terms and conditions.

Participants will be responsible for the arrival of their proposals within the corresponding deadlines and no proposal will be accepted after the deadline.

8 .awards The prize of US$ 6,000 will be distributed for the winning participations, as follows: 1st prize: US$ 4,000. four thousand US dollars. 2nd prize: US$ 1,500.one thousand five hundred US dollars. 3rd prize: US$ 500.five hundred US dollars. There will also be 7 honorable mentions..publication 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize will be published in some magazines press and blogs subject to editor s discretion as well as on the aiic website and social midias. Registration and participation in the Competition implies an immediate acceptance by entrants of all terms & conditions governing the site and Competition..special conditions There are no special conditions, however, should sit comfortably and harmoniously with the chosen site. Submissions can be the work of an individual or a group of up to 4 members. There is no age limit, however, entrants under 18 years of age must be lead or entered by someone over the age of 18..important information This is an open International Competition hosted by aiic to incentivate participants to develop contemporary design ideas.
