1 Hong Kong Tennis Open 2014 Logo Design Competition Introduction In 2014, world-class WTA International level tennis will return to Hong Kong with the staging of a Women s Tennis Association (WTA) International Series tournament at Victoria Park Tennis Stadium this September. The Hong Kong Tennis Open 2014 (HKTO 2014) will be a lifestyle meets sporting event fusing glamour, style and athleticism. To help create buzz around the event, the Hong Kong Tennis Association (HKTA) and the tournament s promoter are launching the Hong Kong Tennis Open 2014 Logo Design Competition. Objective The competition invites the Hong Kong public, including young professional designers, design agencies and tertiary-level students to design the official logo for HKTO 2014 with the aim of: Encouraging and recognizing original design and creativity of local talent Arousing public awareness and interest in the use of local designs Publicly launching HKTO 2014 into the community Remark 1: All persons involved in the planning and implementation of the competition are ineligible to submit entries to the competition. These are, but are not limited to, members of the Organizing Committee, assessment team, Final Judging Panel and related government departments, their immediate family members, fellow employees and associates. Prizes / Rewards HKTO 2014 Logo Design Competition This award honours the creativity of logo designs contributed. The tournament will award one prize: Grand Winner; prize is as follows: Prize (HKD) VIP Tickets Certificate Grand Winner HKD 20, Remark 2: VIP Tickets will be allocated by the tournament on the day of its choosing

2 Design Concept / Criteria HKTO 2014 Logo should contain the following elements Colour: Should be compatible and interchangeable with the tournament s marketing theme colours of purple and pink. Colour Guideline: Purple: C:82%, M:100%, Y:0%, K:10% Pink: C:0%, M:100%, Y:34%, K:8% Font: The preferred font of the tournament organizer is: PoetsenOne-Regular. Other font types may be used and will not affect the final assessment of the Judging Panel Event Theme: The tournament event theme is and the event logo should be compatible with the event thematic. Design Elements: The logo should reflect the brand positioning of the tournament which will see the tournament be a lifestyle meets sport event that fuses glamour, style and athleticism. The logo should be: Original Fresh Iconic Athletic Reflect Hong Kong Chic Stylish Glamorous Fun The logo design should have the capability to incorporate the name of a title sponsor into the tournament logo. The logo design should be compatible across all communications mediums including print and digital applications.

3 Competition Activities Entrants will, if shortlisted, attend a presentation session in front of the Final Judging Panel and the results will be announced at a press conference. Entrants must agree to participate in publicity events related to the competition upon invitation by the Organizer. Entry Submission Entrants may not submit more than two entries. All submissions should be submitted to HKTO 2014 Logo Design Competition Secretariat, 28/F CKK Commercial Centre, 289 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong by post or by hand on or before 6:00pm, Thursday, 20 February Please mark "HKTO 2014 Logo Design Competition" on the envelope. Remark 3: In-person submission should be made within office hours: 9:30am 1:00pm and 2:00pm 6:30pm on Monday to Friday; closed Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Soft copy must be stored on the CD-ROM / DVD, and be submitted with the hard copy. Each submission must include the following items (submissions without any of these items will be disqualified): A full colour logo version, a reverse full colour logo version, and a black and white logo each printed on A4-size paper. Soft copy in CD-ROM/DVD of the full colour, reverse colour and black and white logo in jpg and ai format (with resolution of 3000 x 3000 and 300 dpi) in both RGB and CYMK. submissions will not be accepted. Design specifications of the logo including font colour, font type, colour gradients, etc. A hardcopy of the completed and signed application form (the column Theme/Concept of the Design must be completed) (Please confirm this is a brief written explanation of the design etc max 500 words).

4 Remark 4: To ensure fair assessment, no identity of the entrant should be contained on the colour design printout or the black-and-white design page printout. The Organizer has the final decision on the eligibility of entries. All entries must be the entrant s original work. The work must not have won an award in any other competition. If an entry has previously been entered into competition entrants should ensure they have retained ownership of the copyright of the entry concerned and that copyright does not belong to any other organization. Entry submissions will not be returned. The Organizer has the right to use all entries in any format and reserves the rights to use the entries for publication, exhibition and publicity without the consent of the entrant concerned. Entrants must agree to accept that the Organizer has the right to display or publish selected designs from the competition at public exhibitions, on its website or in its publications. The ownership of copyright in all formats of all winning entries will be vested in the Organizer. However, winners may publicize their designs in their personal or company profile for promotional purposes, with the approval of the Organizer. The Organizer has the right to make alterations to the winning designs and use them to produce any items without compensation to the entrant concerned. The Organizer reserves the right not to use in whole or in part the winning designs. No dispute shall be raised by the entrants concerned. Ownership of Designs All entrants must affirm that if they are the grand winner, they agree to assign the intellectual property right of the winning design to the Organizer. In the event that the winning design is selected as the HKTO 2014 official logo, the Organizer may require refinements to the winning design and the winner is obliged to revise the design accordingly.

5 In the event that the Organizer is not satisfied with the design submissions it reserves the right to extend the competition or not declare a winner. Intellectual Property Rights Entrants shall bear full legal and related responsibilities arising from any possible breach of intellectual property rights in respect of their entries, and shall indemnify the Organizer and other concerned parties against any claims and liabilities arising from any such breach. The winning design is subject to investigation with regard to originality and eligibility for trademark registration. If the design does not comply with this requirement, the Organizer has the discretion to forfeit the prize involved without any liability to the selected entrant or any other persons, and another entry may be selected as the winning design. The Organizer at all times reserves the full right to disqualify entries that in the sole opinion of the Organizer infringe the intellectual property rights of others. Duplicate and Confidentially of Entries Entrants are advised to retain a duplicate copy of their submission in case of any unforeseen event which may lead to loss or damage of their entry. The entrant shall keep the entry confidential and take such necessary steps to ensure the same is not disclosed to any third party throughout the competition until the announcement of the result of the competition is made. General Once entered into the competition, it is assumed that entrants have accepted the rules and regulations of the competition and that the rules and regulations are subject to change without prior announcement by the Organizer. Entrants accept that the decision of the Final Judging Panel will be final and binding on all parties concerned. The entrant accepts that the Organizer has the full right to reject or disqualify any entry or withhold the presentation of any award to any entry.

7 About the Hong Kong Tennis Open The Hong Kong Tennis Open is a WTA-sanctioned International event owned by the Hong Kong Tennis Association.
