1 Dear Chapter Leaders, Hosted by MPI Poland Club and Radisson BLU Krakow Know Before You Go ECLF 2009 As you start preparing for the European Chapter Leaders Forum 2009 and your trip to Krakow this week, please find below some useful information. Have a safe journey and we look forward to welcoming you to Krakow! Transfers Upon arrival at the Krakow airport you will be met by a DMC Poland hostess waiting outside the restricted customs area who will guide you to your driver. Following MPI s Sustainability objectives we will group delegates arriving within the same 30 minutes time slots to travel together to the hotel. The hostess of DMC Poland can be reached on the following mobile phone number: She will be present at the airport at all arrival times and in emergency cases can be reached on the same number 24/24. In case your travel plans have changed please inform Agnieszka Faracik Lesniak at agnieszka@dmcpoland.com to make sure your transfer to the hotel is arranged correctly. Venue The European Chapter Leaders Forum 2009 will take place at: Radisson Blu Hotel ul. Straszewskiego 17 Krakow, Poland Telephone: +48 (12) Fax: + 48 (12) Radisson Blu offers free high-speed internet access in all of its hotels, therefore you can connect from your hotel room for those all important s. If you wish to connect in your room, please remember to bring your own laptop. There is also a business centre in the hotel, but use of the business centre will be charged to your room, and will not be covered by MPI. On departure, guests are asked to check out before 1pm. The hotel anticipates a rush hour when a large number of guests will wish to check out between 11am and 12.30pm over the weekend, therefore if your departure transfer is scheduled within this time frame, we recommend you to check out in the morning prior to the first plenary session.

2 Pre-Work Pre-work for the European Chapter Leaders Forum! As this event is created for you it is important that you come prepared. There is some pre-work that we ask you to do prior to the event to maximize your value of participating. Friday pre-work Opening session You will be updated on the MPI 3-year business plan and how this relates to MPI Chapters. You will also have the opportunity to ask your questions to members of our Senior Management. Be ready to share your thoughts on the Meetings and Events Industry Future and what impact it has on your strategic chapter development. TASK: If you haven t already please send Maria one question that you would like to have covered during this conversation Saturday pre-work Leadership workshop Political intelligence How to Use Positive Organizational Politics to Get Results. In order to come prepared we ask you to fill out The Political Intelligence diagnostic. This tool is an experientially developed, self-administered behavioral instrument that will provide you with insights into your own political preferences. It has no relation to, or link with, levels of intelligence. It is not a test that you can pass or fail and is confidential to everyone. These sessions will be interactive in smaller groups, so please be ready to participate and come prepared with your input and idea s. 4 Dress Code The dress code for ECLF is business casual with the exception of the following social functions: - Saturday Team Building Activity: casual with comfortable footwear and clear minds - Saturday Dinner: Business Casual/Evening attire & Coat/Jacket (Formal evening but 1 hour walking tour of UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wielizcka Salt Mine prior to dinner with average temperature of 20c) Please note that there will be some walking in the Krakow s city centre during the team building activity on Saturday therefore please choose your footwear carefully. Flat, comfortable footwear is recommended. Teams will be using public transport, so please leave valuables at the hotel or make sure they are kept safe. Sensible footwear alongside a coat/jacket are also recommended for the 1 hour underground tour at the Wielizcka Salt mine, there is a stable temperature underground of around 20 degrees celcius, however there may be a cool breeze in the tunnels. Cold evenings are already possible in October and those that choose to explore the city in the evenings should be prepared. 5 Currency The local currency in the Republic of Poland is Polish Zloty locally recognized as zl and internationally recognized as PLN. Weather Forecast Krakow enjoys a temperate climate with the features of both European marine west coast and more severe continental conditions of Eastern Europe.
