1 From Fr. John M. Suenram, OCD Dear Friends in Carmel, It is going to happen Several months ago Fr. John Magdalene sent some information out regarding a trip to Avila in Spain. Our Carmelite Province is planning this trip to attend an International Teresian Meeting which will be held in Avila on August the 10 th through the 14 th. This will be a very special event happening within the Centenary Year of the birth of St. Teresa of Jesus. The purpose behind the gathering is that all the participants may grow in their understanding of the spirituality of St. Teresa while experiencing a spirit of brotherhood, freedom, simplicity and humility. It is also hoped that the participants will adopt a sprit of missionary availability and become ready to answer the question, What do you (God) want from me? There will be time for study, reflection and prayer. There will also be an opportunity to visit some of the principal places associated with the life and ministry of Teresa of Jesus in Avila and elsewhere in Spain. It has been suggested that up to 2,000 people from around the globe may take part in the International Meeting. The event is open to all but in a special way Carmelite Seculars are invited to take part. Participants must have a current passport and will need to pay for inscription for the meeting in Avila. The cost for the Meeting will be: 1.) a $30.00 fee for registration and $ for participation in the 4-day meeting in Avila. The fee for air fare, and double occupancy room and full board during the 14-day trip will be $3, The following material is from the Secretariat in Spain: Teresian International Meeting The V Centenary of the Birth of St. Teresa of Jesus calls us to the whole family of Carmel, and other congregations and movements of Teresian spirituality, to unite in a great meeting in Avila, about Teresa, our mother. This event invites us to live the brotherhood and the universality of Teresian spirituality, blooming in the five continents in multiple realities and initiatives. We want to deepen the knowledge together in Santa Teresa, and her hand in prayer and mission. We want to live a personal experience of God, his saving action that renews our lives bringing forth the brotherhood, freedom, simplicity and humility, and an attitude of missionary availability: what do you want from me The meeting will be held Avila 10 to August 14, The Teresian places and other areas of the city welcome moments of

2 reflection, prayer and dynamics of festivity and sharing, culminating in a final Eucharist. Information Accomodation Our (hotel and meals) will be provided as part of the package. Visits to the Teresian places:" Those attending the meeting will be distributed in three groups; each day a group will visit the main teresian places of Avila There will also be free time for Prayer the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Expositions and cultural activities In addition, during the meeting you can visit the Edades del Hombre exposition, the museum at the birthplace of Santa Teresa, the monastery of La Encarnation Saint Joseph, among others places Here is the full itinerary for the trip to Spain. 5 a Spanish Tour Company. August 4: Dallas - Madrid Oklahoma Province Tour of Spain 2015 Dates: August 4-19, 2015 Depart on flight AA 036 from Dallas at 3:35 p.m. to Madrid. Spend night in flight. August 5: Madrid Arrive at Madrid airport at 8:00 a.m. Get luggage and transfer to city of Madrid. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit the city. Supper and accommodation in our hotel. August 6: Madrid - Ubeda - Granada Breakfast in the hotel. Bus and tour guide pick us up to take us to Ubeda. Visit the city. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we go to Granada. Distribution of people in their hotel rooms. Supper and accommodations. August 7: Granada Breakfast. In the morning we will visit La Alhambra, Palace of Nazaríes and Generalife. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit Carthusian monastery and the Albaycin (high zone), which is a XI Century Muslim style neighborhood. Supper and accommodations in the hotel. August 8: Granada - Seville Breakfast. We will go to Seville in the morning. Morning and afternoon we will spend visiting Cathedral, Jewish neighborhood, and other places of interest. Lunch at restaurant. Supper and accommodations in our hotel. August 9: Seville - Cordoba Breakfast at hotel. In the morning we will depart in direction to Cordoba. Visit the Cathedral-Mosque and walk around the city to see its beautiful courtyards. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we continue our visits. Supper and accommodations in our hotel. August 10: Cordoba - Avila Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Avila. Lunch in restaurant. Arrival in Avila and first contact with this marvelous city. Supper and accommodations in our hotel. August 11-14: Avila Full board in our hotel. During these days the group will make visits and meetings on their own in Avila. August 15: Avila - Segovia - Avila

6 Breakfast. Departure to Segovia, where we will visit the Aqueduct and other places of interest. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit El Alcazar. Supper and accommodations in hotel. August 16: Avila - Toledo - Avila Breakfast. In the morning we will visit Toledo, its Cathedral and Alcazar. Lunch at restaurant. Return to Avila. Supper and accommodations in hotel. August 17: Avila - Alba de Tormes - Fontiveros - Duruelo - Avila Breakfast. Depart in direction to Alba de Tormes and other towns in the area. Lunch in restaurant. Return to hotel for supper and accommodations. August 18: Avila - Madrid Breakfast. In the morning we will depart in direction to Madrid. Visit El Prado Museum, Descalzas Reales and Convent of St. Hermenegildo. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit places we did not visit in the morning. Supper and accommodations in the hotel. August 19: Madrid - Dallas Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to Madrid s airport to take flight 037 at 10:45 a.m. to Dallas.
