West was well represented, having the most essays entered in the contest! Students will have the option to purchase a heart shaped chocolate lollipop, box of conversation hearts, or an inflatable rose for someone special. The cost of the items will be $1 and $2. The sale will begin on Thursday, February 11th from 8:30am-9:00am and again on Friday, February 12th at the same time. Pugliese West will be accepting applications for new preschool/kindergarten students beginning February 22nd thru February 26th. If your child is currently enrolled in one of our preschool/kindergarten classes you will not need to re-register. However, you will need to update medical and dental for the upcoming school year. Remember that the West rosters fill up quick. So if you have young children or friends that need to register, please do so during the first days of registration.

4 Forms will be available on-line. No hard copies will be handed our through the office. More information will be given in the upcoming days. Tutoring at West Free Tutoring Programs are happening at West both before and after school. Below is the complete list. Please be sure to take advantage of these opportunities! Reading Wizards: 1st & 2nd grade M, T, Th 8am-8:30am Phonics instruction in the SFA Classroom SuccessMaker: 1st-4th grade M, T, W 8am-8:30am Working on reading/math skills in the Lab ELA Test Prep: 3rd grade Mondays 3pm-4:00pm This session is for students needing to re-take ELA only Math Test Prep: 3rd grade Wednesdays 3pm-4:00pm All third graders welcome ELA/Math/SS: 4th grade Tuesday/Thursdays 3pm-4:00pm State testing preparation SuccessMaker from Home As you may know, our K-4 students have begun using SuccessMaker in our technology lab. This is a fabulous way for 3rd and 4th grade students to practice their Reading and typing skills to prepare for the state tests! SuccessMaker is an engaging game-like software that provides interventions

5 and continuously adapts to meet individualized student's needs. SuccessMaker can be accessed from your technology device at home! We strongly encourage our students to work on building their skills during free time at school and at home! SuccessMaker can be found from home at: or simply click this link. We hope the Big Red Family can join us for the Red and Black Gala Foundation Scholarship Fundraiser for an evening of fun and all for a great cause! The evening will begin at 7pm where everyone will have the opportunity to play casino games, participate in a Chinese and silent auction, raffles and enjoy music by DJ Dave Ott. 10 President's Day Speaker Abraham Lincoln to speak at the Pleasant Hill One Room School House Historical Museum on Monday, February 15th. Take advantage of this educational opportunity! The program will be presented two times throughout the day. First session beginning at 10:30am, the 2nd Session is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm. The program is free of charge and open to the public.
