1 Southern Elementary School January 31, 2013 Mission Statement The mission of Southern Elementary School is to provide a safe, child-centered learning environment where every child is challenged and motivated. All Staff: Please remember to sign in and out every day with badge! Volunteer information may be picked up from each school secretary in the district. Forms are also available from the Student Support Office at the Bus Garage. Volunteers with expired status will be receiving forms in the mail soon. He is currently at Gateway Rehab, Florence, and may be coming home at the end of this week. If wish to send him a get-well card, his address is 3093 Old Three L Hwy, Falmouth, KY Please be aware of the coming migration of our staff users to the Office 365 platform during the weekend of February 15th, 2013, beginning at 6PM ET. During that weekend, there may be periods of time where your is inaccessible. Service will be restored by 7AM ET Monday morning, February 18th. Yes, that s right; our system is changing again! Hopefully, you have been keeping up with this information through my newsletter but here is an overview of everything in case you haven t. The good news this time is that the changes will be implemented rather seamlessly. Please read the information below for how this change affects you. What is the change? The entire state of Kentucky (adults only at this point) is moving from what is now called Live@edu to Office 365, an updated system from Microsoft. Students will migrate later this calendar year but not before summer. Timeline will be unavailable beginning Friday, February 15, at 5pm, through Monday morning, February 18, at 7:00 am (**February 18, is a make-up day for our District but should be functional by the start of school). There is no need to backup, save or do anything with your . It is always a good idea to clean your box up but not necessary for the conversion. You will not see any changes from your end of - just lack of access during the window of outage The Outlook icon will still work on your desktop when you return to school

2 Links The new link for faculty/staff to use to access Exchange Online (formerly known as WebMail) will be This link will be added to our District s homepage on February 15. Students will continue to use until their migration to Office 365. SkyDrive moves to (more on this below) Mobile Devices on mobile devices such as phones and wireless tablets should automatically change to the new account. You may be required to re-authenticate after the change (log in again). SkyDrive SkyDrive becomes its own entity, separate from Exchange Online, with this change. We will no longer be able to access SkyDrive from our Exchange Online client; you will have to log into SkyDrive separately at All of the Microsoft Web Apps (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) move to the SkyDrive and are not accessible from Exchange Online any longer. All of your documents currently housed in your SkyDrive will still be available. If your password on changes, it will not automatically change in SkyDrive. Lync Interactive video and communications platform to conference with others Sharing platform- includes a whiteboard, presentations, files, and pictures Polling area IM Feature Recording feature New Features Mailbox sizes increase from 10gbs to 25gbs. Lync becomes available for free for all of us. Lync is an enterprise-ready unified communications platform that connects people everywhere with instant messaging, voice and video. Think of Lync as Skype for Microsoft with lots of extras!
