2 This event marks our first step toward creating and branding strong cooperative business relationships among Women of Color in Arizona. The inaugural event is intended to provide an environment for, by and about Women of Color that promotes equity, education and professional development. 3 All events branded under The Women of Color Business Collaborative reflect the Black Chamber of Arizona s core commitment to Business Development. We support the growth and development of Black Chamber businesses and individual members by leveraging our role as a regional organization, by providing technical assistance and leadership training to our members, and by sharing best practices and industry data among our members. We accomplish these activities through various mechanisms, including face-to-face training, web-based tools, coaching, peer networking, \ and informational products. VISION Helping Women of Color in Arizona collaborate to take their businesses to new levels of success. The Women of Color Business Collaborative will be recognized as the premier business conference in Arizona that addresses the needs of business owners who are Women of Color. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Empower Women of Color Business Owners through access to information, professional development, peer networking, and educational and mentoring opportunities. Provide a forum for the exchange of dialogue on topics and issues pertinent to Women of Color Business Owners in Arizona. Encourage Women of Color to collaborate, share resources and become more involved in the communities they live and work. Educate Women of Color on the resources that have been set up to assist business owners to succeed in Arizona. MEASURING IMPACT Pre test to determine the participants knowledge level of the information that will be taught in each specific track. Post test to determine the learning that each participant received during the sessions. The data from the pre and post test surveys will be utilized to determine future programming for ongoing WOC Chamber meetings and workshops. WOMEN OF COLOR BUSINESS COLLABORATIVE 3

4 AUDIENCE DEMOGRAPHICS Our goal for this inaugural event is to attract approximately 75 women in business. By keeping attendance at this level, participants will have a greater opportunity to engage with faculty, sponsors, and with one another in a more intimate setting. According to the Womenable Report commissioned by American Express OPEN State of Women-Owned Businesses million firms in the United States are owned by women Employing nearly 7.9 million people Generating $1.4 trillion in sales as of million firms are majority-owned by women of color in the U.S. Employing nearly 1.4 million people Generating $226 billion in revenues annually Women-owned firms (50% or more) account for 30% of all privately held firms and contribute 14% of employment and 11% of revenues. Over the past seven years, the overall increase of 8.3 million (net) new jobs is comprised of a 9.2 million increase in employment in large, publicly traded corporations, combined with an 893,000 person decline in employment among smaller, privately held companies. Statistics for women-owned firms in Arizona are comparable with the national average. However, when you look at the same national statistics for businesses owned by women of color in Arizona, there is a much greater disparity. 4 BLACK CHAMBER OF ARIZONA
