1 ipad Lotus Notes Setup This lesson walks you through the process for setting up your ipad to use Lotus Notes in the district. You will be able to receive anywhere you have Internet access but you will not be able to send unless you are within the district network. You will not be able to access the district address book. Settings Tap the settings icon. Mail Contacts Calendars Tap on the mail, contacts, and calendars option. On the right side tap Add Account. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 1

2 Add Account There are several options you can add. Tap on the last option, other. Tip: You can have up to ten accounts. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 2

3 Add Mail Account Tap Add Mail Account on the right side. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 3

4 New Account Information A new account dialogue box will appear along with the keyboard. Tap on the name field and enter your name. In the address field enter your district address. In the password field enter your password. For the description field enter Lotus Notes. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 4

5 New Account Sample Your information should look something like my example. After you have entered your information tap the Save button. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 5

6 IMAP Account Information In this dialogue you will enter the settings to retrieve and send your . Look at the next screen shot for the information that needs to be entered in these fields. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 6

7 Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server Settings Tap in each of the fields and enter the appropriate information for the Incoming Mail Server and the Outgoing Mail Server. Replace my user name with your username. Don't forget to enter your password. The password will display as dots to hide your password from prying eyes. This is normal. Double check all the information you have entered into the fields, make sure your spelling is correct and when your done tap the Save button. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 7

8 SSL Settings Request After you tap the Save button from the previous set you will see this message. Tap on NO to this message. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 8

9 New Account Warning You might get a warning. If you see this message tap the Save button. This is just to warn you that you might not be able to send or receive when you are outside the district network. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 9

10 New Account Added You will be taken back to the mail, contacts and calendar settings. You should see the Lotus Notes account. Tap the Home button on your ipad to get back to the main screen. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 10

11 Open Your Mail Tap on the Mail applications to launch and retrieve your . The red badge you see in this example will not appear on your icon until after you open the mail for the first time. The number on the badge indicates the number of new messages. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 11

12 Mail In Portrait Mode If you hold your ipad in portrait mode the mail will look something like this example. If you do not see a message you will need to tap the Inbox icon in the upper left. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 12

13 Inbox Portrait Mode A list of your messages appears after you tap the Inbox icon. Tap on a message to view it on the main page. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 13

14 Mail In Landscape Mode While your ipad is turned to portrait mode it will show both the list of messages and the whole message on the right. To compose a new message so it can be sent while you are in the district network, tap the icon in the upper right. To reply to a message tap the arrow pointing to the left. To delete a message tap the trash can icon. This will delete the message from your ipad, not from your Lotus Notes account. To permanently delete an from your Lotus account you must use either Lotus Notes web mail or the Lotus Notes Client on your computer. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 14

15 Lotus Notes Through Safari If you need to send while outside the district network or you are having trouble with the mail application, access Lotus Notes through Safari and the Internet. Tap on the Safari browser on your ipad and enter mail.yisd.net in the address bar. After you enter the address tap the Go button on the keyboard. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 15

16 Login To Lotus Notes Web Mail All you have to do is enter your user name and password. Add a home screen bookmark to this page if you access the Lotus Notes web mail often. A home screen bookmark creates an icon on your ipad screen for easy access. Follow the next few steps to create this home screen bookmark. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 16

17 Add Bookmark to Home Screen Tap the + symbol next to the address bar and tap the Add to Home Screen option. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 17

18 Label Your Bookmark The default name for the bookmark is Server Login. This is not the most descriptive. Tap the gray x to erase this title and use the keyboard to enter your own. You could try Lotus Notes. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 18

19 Add to Home Tap the Add button to finish the process. The Home Bookmark The Home Bookmark is now created. Tap the icon and it will take you to the Lotus Notes web mail. ipad Lotus Notes Setup - 19
