Transcription

1 Description The is a family of bandgap circuits designed to achieve precision micro-power voltage references of.5v, 3.V and 5.V. The devices are available in.% B-grade,.5% C-grade and % D-grade initial tolerances. They are available in small outline SOT3 and SC7-5 surface mount packages which are ideal for applications where space is at a premium. Excellent performance is maintained over the 6µA to 5mA operating current range with a typical temperature coefficient of only ppm/ C. The device has been designed to be highly tolerant of capacitive loads so maintaining excellent stability. This device offers a pin for pin compatible alternative to the voltage reference. 10 Application Information In a conventional shunt regulator application (Figure ), an external series resistor (R S ) is connected between the supply voltage, V S, and the. R S V S I R + I L I L R S determines the current that flows through the load (I L ) and the (I R ). Since load current and supply voltage may vary, R S should be small enough to supply at least the minimum acceptable I R to the even when the supply voltage is at its minimum and the load current is at its maximum value. When the supply voltage is at its maximum and I L is at its minimum, R S should be large enough so that the current flowing through the is less than 5 ma. R S is determined by the supply voltage, (V S ), the load and operating current, (I L and I R ), and the s reverse breakdown voltage, V R.
