It is hard to believe we are on the last two months of the school year. With approximately 40 days of school left there will be many days of review, final projects, field trips, special events, etc. With the warmer weather brings soccer, lacrosse and baseball season. It may be hard for some students to remain focused so we ask your assistance to ensure students are concentrating on school through to the last week. April was certainly another busy month at Notre Dame. We are so proud of the many accomplishments celebrated by our extremely gifted and talented students such as: -Silver and Bronze in Cosmetology at SKILLS Canada local competition -a Gold, Silver and Bronze in Electrical Wiring at SKILLS Canada -Men and Ladies participated in Tier 1 ASAA Provincial Team Handball Championship -performing One Act s Competition at LTCHS -17 badminton players advancing to Provincials -6 Notre Dame football players advance to final round of U18 tryouts -Annual Grad Service Project Congratulations to everyone involved in these outstanding achievements. If your son or daughter will be employed this summer, please have them consider signing up for Notre Dame s Summer School Work Experience beginning mid-may. Students can earn one (1) credit for every 25 hours worked this summer. St. Gabriel s Online School also offers a number of online courses that can be taken over the summer. More information is available in this newsletter. With Graduation only weeks away, it is essential for our Grade 12 students to ensure they are keeping up with their studies and have confirmed grad requirements with the career advisory team. Please refer to the Graduation tab, on our school website, for the dates of upcoming events, especially the Grad Mass at St. Mary s on June 5 th at 4:00 pm and Grad Rehearsal on June 29th at 4:00 pm. We also invite everyone to join us in the Fine Arts Room on May 5 th and 6 th for the final performance of our One Act Plays and to our final School Council Meeting on Monday, May 16 th at 7:00 pm. May is the month when Catholics traditionally focus on Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The practice dates back at least 700 years and is still observed around the world today. May is seen as the beginning of new life and the start of summer, which makes this a logical time for the celebrations of Mary, who brought life into the world. May is also the month we celebrate the love our Mothers have for us. Watch our website for detailed information on a Cancer Fundraiser coming up in May. Take time during these busy months to enjoy time with family and friends. God bless, Rose McQuay Through God, all things are possible Grâce à Dieu, tout est possible Page 1
