2 What is a Fax Switch? FAX SWITCH A Fax Switch is an Intelligent Telephone Line Switch that can detect an Incoming Fax Call on your existing Voice Telephone Line and switch it Automatically to your Fax Machine. This is when your Fax Number is the same as your Telephone Number. There are 2 Fax Switches in our Range : Fax Switch 1 Is ideal where Fax Reception is light. Is designed for use with an Answering Machine. Uses a Voice Priority operating method and it is totally Transparent, which means that your Callers will never know that there is a Fax or Switch on the line. Provides for Quick and Easy User Installation. $ inc gst Fax Switch 2 Is designed for Business Use where Fax Reception is higher. Is Ideal for PABX use. See Page 7. Can operate with or without an Answering Machine. Provides Fax Priority and Voice Priority operating modes. Voice Priority operation allows for Easy User Installation. 3 What is a Duet Switch? DUET SWITCH A Duet Switch is designed to allow your Fax Machine to operate with the FaxStream Duet service. The FaxStream Duet service provides you with a second number for your existing line. This service costs $6 per month and is available from your normal telephone service provider. There is no installation charge and the new number becomes your Fax Number. When Fax calls are made to the new number, a different ring is sent which Duet Switch will detect within 2 seconds. It then connects the incoming Fax call to your Fax Machine. There are 2 Duet Switches in our Range : Duet Switch 1 Provides for Basic Home Use. Is ideal for sites that use telephones connected to a single telephone socket. Will operate with MOST but not all Fax Machines because some Fax Machines will not answer the short FaxStream Duet rings. Quick and Easy User Installation. $ inc gst Duet Switch 2 Provides Enhanced facilities to ensure full operation for all telephone devices. Ideal for sites that use telephones connected to one or more telephone sockets. Can also allow reception of Faxes sent to your normal number. A separate Answering Machine (if used) can be connected to the same socket or any other socket on the line. If ADSL is used on the same line, then an ADSL filter should be fitted ahead of the switch. If you re using multiple phones on multiple sockets, then Fax Switch 2 unit will need to be installed by a technician on your first telephone socket. 7 PABX Phone System Users Would you like to save $40 in Line Rental EVERY MONTH? ADD your Fax Line as an ADDITIONAL LINE on your Phone System or REMOVE a line from your Phone System and REPLACE it with your Fax Line, saving $40 per month. Move your expensive under utilised Fax Line to your Phone System to create an additional voice line! Fax Calls are received Completely Automatically. The extra line will allow you to receive an extra Voice call! No need to change your Fax Number. HOW DOES IT WORK? I ncoming Faxes will be detected by Faxswitch 2 and transferred to your Fax Machine automatically, just as if it was on its own line. Outgoing Faxes will operate just as if the Fax was on its own line. If the line is in use, Fax Switch 2 will wait until the line is free before allowing the Fax to call out. Incoming Phone calls will only ring on your last line when all other lines are in use. Fax Switch 2 will answer these occasional calls, listen briefly for Fax Tones and then connect the call to your phone system. Outgoing Phone calls can be made on this line as usual. You still keep your existing Fax Number. Telephone Handsets Telephone Handsets Important Note A small number of Phones Systems use Digital ISDN lines. Fax Switch 2 is not suitable for use with these lines. If you are unsure whether you are using ISDN lines, please check your phone bill or call your telephone service provider. 8 Operation with ADSL Our Fax Switch and Duet Switch products are designed to operate with an ADSL service. They will not affect your ADSL service and your ADSL service will not affect the operation of our Switches. It is essential that you use a High Quality ADSL Filter/Splitter somewhere on your Telephone Line ahead of our Switch. We recommend the C10 brand ADSL Filter/Splitter, available from most telephone equipment retailers. Your Reseller can advise you of other suitable filters. Operation with CallerID Our Fax Switch and Duet Switch products are designed to operate with a CallerID service. If a CallerID telephone is to be connected direct to your Fax Switch or Duet Switch, you can quickly and easily enable the unit to pass CallerID to your telephone device. Operation with Simulated Telephone services Our products are designed and guaranteed to operate with standard telephones lines. We are unable to guarantee the operational reliability of our products on simulated telephone line services such as those provided via Cable or ATA devices, because the operation of our products depends on the accuracy of the simulated services.
