1 TANZANIA BUREAU OF STANDARDS JOB OPPORTUNITIES Tanzania Bureau of Standards is pleased to announce the following vacant positions for prospective and potential candidates to apply. 1. JOB TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER III (13 POSTS) B.Sc. (First or Second Class honors) in Food Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering, Chemistry, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related fields from a recognized university. Masters degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage. Computer knowledge is an essential requirement. The applicant must be ready to work at any place in Tanzania. To study all aspects pertaining to Inspection, Standardization, Quality Management and Certification To carry out pre- licence and Surveillance Inspections To follow up the implementation of the imports regulations To assist industries in all matters related to Quality Assurance To study and implement the laboratory safety procedures and regulations To assist in the analysis of samples as may be assigned by supervisor/trainer To participate in preparation, implementation, maintenance and review of quality system To carry out preventive maintenance To study preventive maintenance manuals and assist in maintenance services To do any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Section

2 2. JOB TITLE: STANDARDS OFFICER III (ENVIRONMENT) (1 POST) B.Sc. (First or Second Class honors) in Environmental Studies or equivalent from a recognized Institution of higher learning. Masters degree in Environment will be an added advantage. Computer knowledge is an essential requirement. The applicant must be ready to work at any place in Tanzania. To study standardization systems To collect essential data for formulation of standards To draft standards To assist in proof reading of draft standards To assist in organizing technical committee meetings Secretary of technical committees May be appointed to assist in quality assurance inspections Any other related duties as may be assigned by Head of Section 3. (First or Second Class honors) in Textiles, ATI, Chemical and Process Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning. Masters degree in Textiles will be an added advantage. Computer knowledge is an essential requirement. JOB TITLE: STANDARDS OFFICER III (GENERAL) (8 POSTS) B.Sc. (First or Second Class honors) in Food Science and Technology, Agriculture, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering or related fields from a recognized university. Masters degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage. Computer knowledge is an essential requirement. The applicant must be ready to work at any place in Tanzania. JOB TITLE: COMPUTER SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN III (1 POST) and Experience Ordinary Diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Minimum two years working experience in a reputable public or private organization with proven interpersonal communication and time management skills. To assist in computer hardware and software installation, maintenance and support To assist in workstation configuration, maintenance and support To assist in networked CDROM databases maintenance and support To assist in Computer Equipment Inventory documentation and maintenance To maintain security and integrity with network software and regular system file backups To Investigate and solves operational problems experienced by various system users To assist in hardware warranty management and vendor liaison To assist in server operations, maintenance and support To assist in special duties for network and specific software support To assist in IT-related special projects and development work To train junior staff and trainees Any other related duties as may be assigned by Head of Section 7. JOB TITLE: EDITOR II (1 POST) Qualification Bachelor s degree in Linguistics, Mass Communication or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Must have at least 3 years work experience. Must be computer literate with sound knowledge in microcomputer applications 4

JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL PROCUREMENT OFFICER II (1 POST) Certified Procurement and Supplies Professional (CPSP) certificate. Must have Masters Degree in a relevant field. Must be registered by NBMM as Authorized Procurement Officer/Stock Verification Officer. Must have at least ten (10) years work experience. To assist in the planning, procurement, storage and distribution of stocks To analyze and compute stock re-order levels and economics order quantities 5
