1 LOGISTICS OFFICER (AFRICAN STANDBY FORCE) 1. POST: Job Title: Grade: Section: Reports to: Duty Station: Logistics officer P2 Logistics Senior Logistics officer Field Mission 2. JOB PURPOSE: To assist in the provision of logistics and integrated support to all mission components, including the distribution of mission assets (vehicles, computers, stationery, bulk supplies of water, fuel products and foodstuffs). 3. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Assist in the provision of expert advice on logistical support to the mission,; Assist in the preparation of logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for the mission; Prepare contingency plans and logistics preparedness reviews; Provide medium- and long-term planning capacity for logistics support; Monitor, assess and keep senior management informed of the quality, efficiency and timeliness of logistical operations; Interpret and analyse periodic management reports, to include Verification Reports, and other relevant information contained in the section's information management applications; Identify issues requiring headquarters intervention and recommend appropriate action; Follow up on decisions taken; Receive and analyze requests for logistical support; Monitor delivery of goods and/or services to the mission and assess quality; Perform any other duties as directed by supervisor(s) 4. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Bachelor s University Degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics operations/management or similar fields

EXPERIENCE At least 7 years work experience with a Bachelor s degree or 3 years work experience with a Master s degree in a related field with Government, NGO, think tank, or similar multilateral, regional or international institution 6. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Ability to work closely with governments, NGOs and multi-lateral institutions in complex political affairs, peace and security undertakings Computer literate and well versed in the use of the Internet, Power Point, Excel and Word Strong personal initiative and willingness to accept responsibility. Experience of work with the military/police desirable Exhibit basic comprehension of transportation, communications and information technology, engineering and medical services, and supply chain management. Ability to work in a multicultural setting Must be prepared to work in a hardship context and highly pressurised and sometimes hazardous environment 7. AGE REQUIREMENT: Candidates must preferably be between 25 to 35 years old. 8. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT : Proficiency in the mission language xxxx. Knowledge of other working languages would be an added advantage(english, Arabic, French and Portuguese). 9. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Supervise logistics officers Coordinate the provision of expert advice on logistical support to the mission, including planning and budgeting considerations for the start-up, build-up, surge, sustainment and liquidation phases; considerations and practices for integration of civilian and military capabilities; the synchronization of transportation, communications and information technology, engineering, and medical services; and risk management; Supervise the preparation of logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for the mission; Oversee the preparation of contingency plans and logistics preparedness reviews; Provide expert medium- and long-term planning capacity for logistics support; Ensure the monitoring, assessment and of the quality, efficiency and timeliness of logistical operations; Ensure the interpretation and analysis of periodic management reports, to include Verification Reports, and other relevant information contained in the section's information management applications; Oversee the identification of issues requiring headquarters intervention and recommend appropriate action; Monitor delivery of goods and/or services to the mission and assess quality; Prepare technical reports and briefings; make informal and formal oral presentations Prepare comprehensive logistical appreciations of named geographic areas of interest in support of operational planning activities; Coordinate the Section's review of Mission Support Plans and Liquidation Plans together with associated cost estimates and asset disposal plans, as may be applicable; Identify issues, develop and make coordinated recommendations;

8 4. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Master s University Degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics operations/management or similar fields 5. EXPERIENCE At least 10 years work experience in a related field with Government, NGO, think tank, or similar multilateral, regional or international institution, out of which at least 5 years must be in a senior managerial position 6. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Ability to work closely with governments, NGOs and multi-lateral institutions in complex political affairs, peace and security undertakings Computer literate and well versed in the use of the Internet, Power Point, Excel and Word Strong personal initiative and willingness to accept responsibility. Experience of work with the military/police desireable Exhibit basic comprehension of transportation, communications and information technology, engineering and medical services, and supply chain management. Ability to work in a multicultural setting Must be prepared to work in a hardship context and highly pressurised and sometimes hazardous environment 7. JOB PURPOSE: Leadership of Logistics operations of the mission. Provide logistics and integrated support which includes the distribution of mission assets (vehicles, computers, stationery, bulk supplies of water, fuel products and foodstuffs). 3. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Manage mission s logistics operations Coordinate the provision of expert advice on logistical support to the mission, including planning and budgeting considerations for the start-up, build-up, surge, sustainment and liquidation phases; Establishes practices for integration of civilian and military capabilities; the synchronization of transportation, communications and information technology, engineering, and medical services; and risk management; Supervise the preparation of logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for the mission; Lead the development of contingency plans for drawdown and liquidation of mission; Responsible for the development and implementation of methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans; Formulate mission specific Standard Operating Procedures; Oversee the preparation of contingency plans and logistics preparedness reviews; Provide expert medium- and long-term planning capacity for logistics support; Ensure the monitoring, assess and of the quality, efficiency and timeliness of logistical operations; Ensure the interpretation and analysis of periodic management reports, to include Verification Reports, and other relevant information contained in the section's information management applications; Oversee the identification of issues requiring headquarters intervention and recommend appropriate action; Monitor delivery of goods and/or services to the mission and assess quality; Prepare technical reports and briefings; make informal and formal oral presentations Prepare comprehensive logistical appreciations of named geographic areas of interest in support of operational planning activities;

11 Lead the Section's review of Mission Support Plans and Liquidation Plans together with associated cost estimates and asset disposal plans, as may be applicable; Identify issues, develop and make coordinated recommendations; Lead and coordinate the Section's logistical planning activities Plan, organize the Section's supporting plans for new, evolving or liquidating missions; Represent the Section and provide logistical advice in selected working groups; task forces and at outside meetings; Establish and maintain effective liaison with other Sections and the represent the Logistics section during meetings and participate to negotiations; Manage assigned projects to achieve required goals, objectives and milestones; As required, form and direct multifunctional work groups; Participate in visits to geographic areas of interest and existing field operations, and pre-deployment inspection visits; 4. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Master s University Degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics operations/management or similar fields 5. EXPERIENCE At least 15 years work experience in a related field with Government, NGO, think tank, or similar multilateral, regional or international institution of which 8 years must be in a senior managerial position 6. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Ability to work closely with governments, NGOs and multi-lateral institutions in complex political affairs, peace and security undertakings Excellent negotiating and communication skills Computer literate and well versed in the use of the Internet, Power Point, Excel and Word Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; Exhibit comprehension of transportation, communications and information technology, engineering and medical services, and supply chain management. Peacekeeping experience or with the military highly desireable Ability to work in a multicultural setting Must be prepared to work in a hardship context and highly pressurised and sometimes hazardous environment
