They should have at least 9 years experience at least 3 years as Senior Accountant I or as Assistant Chief Internal Auditor, have outstanding professional competence in Financial Management and demonstrated high administrative capabilities. Those with experience in Aided Audited Techniques will have an added advantage. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high level of integrity and ability to work with multidisciplinary team of professional. The successful candidate will be expected to deputize the Chief internal Auditor (CIA), assist the CIA in control and supervision of auditing work in Colleges, Central Administration and SWA, Develop review audit guidelines ad systems, design, develop sound internal auditing systems responsive to the university needs among other strategic duties. CLERK OF WORKS (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR LEVEL- 1 POST- CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT- AC/1/25/15- (R&T) Applicants should be holders of at least KCSE Certificate mean Grade C certificate, Ordinary Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering with 10 years experience, Construction technician certificate Part III with ten (10) years experience OR HND in Building Economics, with (5) years experience in concreting project complex OR HND in Building Construction structures option, with five (5) years experience in concreting project complex. A Degree in Construction related discipline will be an added advantage. They must have Good communication skills and be computer literate. Key Responsibilities: Ensure specifications and good workmanship is adhered to. Ensure all facts relating to the works are recorded. Carry out measurements to assist on preparation of interim payments. Prepare weekly reports and works progress. Any other duties as assigned by Manager, Construction & Maintenance 1
2 RESERCH GRANT OFFICER (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR LEVEL), PRINCIPAL S OFFICE, COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES- 1 POST- AC/1/26/15- (CHS) Applicants should be holders of a relevant Master s degree from a recognized university. They should have at least three years experience in writing and review of research grant proposals, good oral and written communications skills and strong organizational and project management skills. Experience in grants administration desired. They should be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and simultaneously manage multiple priorities while maintaining a professional work style. They must be self-motivated and team players. They must be computer literate with experience in using online databases and other sources to locate grant information. The successful candidate will support writing of research proposals and funding applications in liaison with the College Researchers. He is also expected to offer technical & administrative support to grant awardees and would be responsible for coordinating projects activities. The officer would also maintain records of incoming, ongoing and past projects. Please note that the appointment is on a three year contract term renewable on mutual agreement. COLLEGE WEB COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER GRADE DEF- 3 POSTS- ICT CENTRE- AD/1/27/15- (R&T) The University system of websites plays a crucial role in meeting University of Nairobi strategic objectives. The person recruited to this position will be responsible for communication matters specifically pertaining to meeting the objectives of the University of Nairobi system of websites. Applicants should be holders of at least a Bachelors degree in Communication, Information Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution OR Diploma in Communication, Information Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with 3 years relevant working experience in communications, web design, content and project management and social media with interest in social media for corporate image. They should have the following skills:- Excellent writing, editing and communication skills; Project management skills to assess appropriate priorities and organize workload on multiple assignments; Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with varying levels of management; team player with ability to prioritize multiple projects but also work independently once given direction; Graphic design skills and particularly in layout and typography; Ability to create and edit short videos; Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines. Specifically the person will be charged with content development and management of College websites which are part of University of Nairobi system of websites; social media channels and perform online editorial work for content posted on the University websites; manage website feedback and enhance the general outlook and interactivity of the website, survey the market and make proposals for appropriate changes to the website. Reporting technically to the Web Communications Officer (based in the Vice- Chancellor s Office) and administratively to the College Principal, the successful candidate will be expected to:- 2
3 Set and direct College web content, online brand and social media strategy; Survey the market and make proposals for appropriate changes to the website. Manage web feedback and social media sites; Cover College activities and avail the information on the relevant website; Train staff on use of the content management system (CMS); Provide targeted support to College Faculties/Schools/Units and Departments to enhance their website contents and their online presence; Establish and direct user interface standards, design guidelines and compliance to ICT Center policies and standards; Act as liaison for creative content; Troubleshoot, test and oversee the launch of new online products; Analyze performance data using various tracking platforms and provide evaluation and recommendations; Prepare regular reports on web performance metrics and submit them to relevant stakeholders. WEBSITE ADMINISTRATION OFFICER GRADE DEF-3 POSTS- ICT CENTRE- AD/1/28/15- (R&T) The university system of websites plays a crucial role in meeting University strategic objectives. The person recruited to this position will give overall support to Colleges/ Faculties/ Schools/Units and Departments in the management of the University system of websites. Applicants should be holders of at least a Bachelor s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution OR Higher National Diploma in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent qualifications with 3 years relevant working experience in communications, web design, content and project management with interest in social media for corporate image. They should have the following skills:- Excellent organizational, analytical and writing skills; Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with management; team player with ability to prioritize multiple projects but also work independently once given direction; Graphic design skills and particularly in layout and typography; Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines. The person will work under the Project Leader in charge of websites and coordinate with Web Communications Officer to implement communications strategy and long - range communications goals for the University system of websites including: intranet sites, blogs, discussion forums, related project sites, seminar pages, and Unit websites as guided. Reporting to the Project Leader in Charge of websites at ICT Centre, the successful candidates will be expected to perform the following:- Carry out user needs analysis and develop Unit websites as guided; Provide strategic technical guidance on University of Nairobi Web communications effort; Liaise with the Web Communications Officer to create and update website content; Provide targeted support to Colleges, Faculties/Schools/Units and Departments to enhance their web site content and their online presence; Train staff on use of the University Content Management Systems; Perform ongoing technical support to staff on website related issues; 3
4 Ensure security of the University System of websites and maintain cross-platform and crossbrowser compatibility; Design, develop, implement, document and support web and mobile applications to support University business as guided; Prepare regular reports on web performance metrics and submit them to stakeholders; Perform any other duties assigned by the Director ICT Centre. WEB SUPPORT OFFICER GRADE ABC-8 POSTS- ICT CENTRE- AD/1/29/15- (R&T) The University system of websites plays a crucial role in meeting University of Nairobi strategic objectives. The person recruited to this position will be responsible for support of communication matters specifically pertaining to meeting the objectives of the University of Nairobi system of websites. The role of this Officer will be to upload or place website content for the unit originating and owning that content and support the website. Applicants should be holders of at least a Diploma in Communication, Information Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with 3 years relevant working experience in communications, web design, social media, content and project management with interest in social media for corporate image. They should have the following skills:- Knowledge of internet and website technologies; Ability to use common office automation software applications including standard word processing and simple text editors; Reasonable knowledge of the organizational structure of the University; Appreciable knowledge of the academic, research and administrative functions of the University; Appreciation of the duties, responsibilities and roles of the various categories of personnel in the University; Reporting technically to the Web Communications Officer and administratively to the College Principal, the successful candidate will be expected to:- Receiving content intended for update; Placement and update of content in line with the guiding standards; Implementing the recommendations of the College Website Committee; Participating in website-related training. NOTE: 1.
