3 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care Delivery Method: Work placement 2 days per week over a 62 week program 1 day per week in WDEA Training room /community projects 6 total training days per fortnight Self study ** Work placement is a compulsory part of this program. Only enrol if you have a commitment to work in this industry Overview This qualification provides an opportunity for Educators to focus on children s learning and wellbeing and to work in partnership with families and communities. Using organisational policies and procedures, Educators will facilitate quality experiences, enabling children to achieve their developmental outcomes. Description This qualification reflects the role of Educators in a range of Early Childhood Education and Care settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standards. They support the implementation of an Approved Learning Framework, and support children s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, Educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously. Units The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course consists of 28 units and incorporates theory based classroom learning with practical, hands-on sessions in the workplace and community. 4 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care Entry Criteria To be accepted into this course, you must: Be at least 17 years of age Be able to pass a CrimCheck or Police Check, and a Working with Children Check Be prepared to attend 2 days of work placement per week and 1 day of classroom attendance per week over approx. 62 weeks Have a career aspiration of working with children Fees & Funding Course fees will depend on if you are up skilling and eligible for State Government funding. 5 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care To enrol in this course, we will need to collect some information from you: Do you hold a previous qualification that is at an equivalent level or higher than this Diploma qualification? You will need a Working with Children s Check before you commence your work placement trial. Do you see any issues with obtaining this? Will you have any issues obtaining a clean CrimCheck (Police Check)? Can you commit to the required time allocated for work placement and classroom attendance? Do you have a current resume? Are you over the age of 17? Do you have a pre-existing injury that might cause stress with lifting and bending or supervision of children? 6 Diploma of Early CHC50113 Childhood Education and Care Requirements of Work placement: You may be required to work early morning starts (morning shifts), later evening finishes This program is based on work placement experience and attendance is important. This is also the best opportunity for the workplace to consider your work ethics and leading to permanent employment. Treat your workplace as a job interview Dress attire - Black work pants, WDEA Training polo shirt, hat and covered in shoes Working shifts are negotiated between the workplace, your trainer and yourself. Before enrolment: Please be mindful that you will be required to attend an interview with your work placement Host who will interview you for your suitability After this process, you will be invited to attend a work placement trial to ensure you feel this is right for you.
