We believe that a properly planned and managed occupational health strategy is an investment that can revitalise and re-energise your no. 1 resource - your work force. Most important of all, it can deliver real benefits towards vital Human Resources objectives - reduced absenteeism, better retention of quality staff and improved productivity - and in doing so make a lasting difference to the profitability of your organisation.
Our Company Heales Medical is a leading provider of Occupational Health services to organisations of all sizes. We provide a range of Occupational Health services tailored to meet any requirement. Services range from one-off sickness absence referrals through to managed multi-disciplinary on-site Occupational Health teams. Whatever your requirement, our aim is to provide you with the resources and services to make a real difference; whether that is reducing lost time due to sickness or injury, dealing with illhealth retirement, managing long-term sickness absence cases, or overall Occupational Health support and advice. With over 10 years experience, we take an objective approach and are committed to continuous investment to improve the services we offer. Heales has developed an excellent record of working in partnership with clients and we believe our dymanic freah approach combined with our medical and corporate experience achieves real "bottom line" results. We provide services throughtout the UK; our head offices is in Hitchin, Hertfordshire and we have branch offices in Cambridge, Birmingham, Coventry, Kent, London, Mansfield and Leicester. In addition to the staff we employ at our head office and branch offices, we have a network of OH practitioners located across the UK so are well placed to deliver services as close to the point of need as required.
Our Philosophy We are an equal opportunity employer We care for the environment We respect and promote a healthy work-life balance We encourage and support our employees to continuously develop their skill We operate in a totally open and honest fashion We work in close partnership with our clients We apply quality in everything we do We work by fact We apply key measures to our work in order to achieve clear goals and to continuously improve our service We work to provide the best service possible, to be proactive and to exceed client expectations We work to improve client employee s health, promote a safe and healthy working environment, and help our clients minimise absence due to sickness We respect the rights of the individual whilst recognising the need to provide clear and consistent information to an employer. We continuously work to find new methods, techniques, tools which will help us, and our clients, to achieve our goals We work in partnership with our clients in a completely open and honest fashion. The client knows exactly what we do, what they are paying for, and how much profit we make We will ensure that our OH team is continuously educated to the highest standards, and is always aware of the latest legislation, policy and advances in Health & Safety and Occupational Health from the UK, European and International community.
Company approach Most organisations identify sickness absence as a major drain on resources, yet few either monitor it effectively or have the resources to actively manage it. Early intervention, clear fact based advice, targeted treatment and relevant health promotion will help minimise absence significantly and Heales Medical can provide all of this through specific, co-ordinated services and support; by working in partnership with your HR, H&S and Management team; supervising rehabilitation programmes; and by providing a proactive approach to major health issues such as stress related illness and musculoskeletal problems. Every case is different - no single solution will work every time. Our approach is evidence-based and holistic, which means that we seek objective measurement to determine the true causes of injury, illness; and capability to work, and then implement appropriate rehabilitation programmes. Examples of this are functional capability testing in musculoskeletal cases and our own stress evaluation process developed with the psychology department of the University of Hertfordshire. This robust fact-based advice is proven to stand up to scrutiny in protecting both the organisation s legal compliance and the well being of the employee. Every week seems to bring forth new evidence of poor diet, lack of exercise, heart problems and obesity among the population in general. Given the absenteeism, under-performance and emotional disengagement that may follow, it is in every employer s interests to promote and encourage better health among their staff. Heales Medical can help you achieve this through a range of targeted strategies that include posters and leaflets on topical health issues; drop-in clinics and workshops; awareness training for managers and employees of relevant health issues; a health information portal that incorporates individual health scoring and well-person screening. We can also offer an exclusive weight reduction programme and our tailored Positive Health Improvement Toolkit (PHIT) which not only improves health, lifestyle and productivity but provides a biopsychosocial measure of organiational health. For the first time employers are able to quantify the benefits of health improvement on both the individual and the organisation. A fitter and healthier workforce is proven to be less prone to absence and more productivea positive influence on your profits.
Technology for efficiency "Heales Medical continues to invest and develop technology for the benefit of our staff and clients which increases value, reduces costs, improves efficiency and reduces our carbon footprint" Eamonn Swanton - Managing Director Secure Client based Management System Web-based, no client installation requirement Automatically backed-up The right technology can drastically reduce the time, expense, energy and paperwork spent in managing individual cases. Heales Medical has been at the forefront of researching, testing and implementing the benefits of applying technological change to occupational health and the result is a multi-faceted state-of-the-art management system that underpins all our operations and procedures. Online quality feedback on management advice Just as important, access to accurate and meaningful statistical evidence is vital in measuring the effectiveness of our service to you. Each contract is tailor-made to the client's specification, with the aim of reducing sickness absence, and improving employee's health. The service can include pre-employment screenings, management referrals, health surveillance, health education & training, stress assessment & training, immunisations & blood tests, health promotion and advice. 8 Absence Management Helpline Every employer knows the adverse economic impact that absence through sickness or injury can make on a company or organisation, whether measured in terms of lost working days, reduced productivity, or the costs incurred in administering employee absence. Missed deadlines, interruption of work flow and even loss of customers can all be direct or indirect consequences of employee absence. The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) estimate the direct cost alone of absence at approximately 517 per employee however further indirect costs can double that Through its Absence Management Call Centre, Heales Medical can provide your organisation with a dedicated central helpline number for employees to call in the event of absence. The call will be logged by an advisor who can provide medical advice and support, log the details of the call, determine cause of absence and agree a prospective date for return to work. All this information will then be entered into the management system for accessing by the relevant line manager. Managers can be automatically notified of the absence in a variety of ways i.e. text, or notified by phone call from the Call Centre personnel in the case of critical employees. All cases are proactively managed until confirmed return to work. Perhaps most important of all, the procedure allows the employer to keep close track of absences that threaten to become long term. Call centre operators will follow up absences at regular intervals to ascertain improvement or otherwise in the employee s condition. Any requirement for extended medical care will be identified at this point and managed accordingly. Each contact will be logged and reported, so allowing the line manager to plan appropriately for the employee s return or prolonged absence. The service can also be integrated with our Occupational Health and EAP service facilitating referrals between services either directly or via the manager as agreed with your organisation.
Health & life Link - Enhanced EAP Today more than ever befoe, an effective way for organisations to retain key staff and keep ahead of their competitors in recruiting top calibre employees - is through a well-managed employee care packages and policies. An employee assistance programme (EAP) demonstrates to your current and prospective staff that your organisation is a caring employer who takes seriously the principle of 'duty of care' to its employees. SUPPORT ADVICE Employees will be encouraged to ring the helpline for advice and guidence on any matter of concern Stress Illness We continue to invest and develop new tools and procedures to reduce cost, add value and improve health. The Health & Life Link is a confidential employee helpline service which provides a proactive and comprehensive total lifestyle package, operated by a team of trained BACP counsellors & advisers, nutritionists, medical advice (nurse), lifestyle coaches and physical educational coaches. This service is a significant enhancement of a normal Employee Health Programme, designed to provide flexible package of interactive support, health and well-being services to help employees improve lifestyle, productivity and address issues before they result in absence. Bereavement Family Issues Work Legal Financial Confidential Advice & Support to Employee's Tailored to Clients requirements Works in conjuction with OH Anonymous online reports of activity
Positive Health Improvement Toolkit The key to ongoing improvement in employee attendance and productivity lies in empowering employees to make positive changes to both their physical and mental well-being. Heales have developed PHIT in conjunction with the University of Hertfordshire. The programme consists of 3 main elements: Health Audit - Measures the physical, social and mental health of an individual and overall health of the organisation Lifestyle Change Programme - Online and face to face. This programme is based on improving behavioural flexibility and breaking down ingrained habits which act as barriers to lifestyle improvement. New healthy, flexible behaviours are then introduced acheiving a wide range of benefits for the individual and the employer. Taster Sessions/activities - Tailored according to the client but can include different types physical exercise/activities, nutrition/culinary skills, psychological aspects of health behaviour etc. This can also be part of a programme in helping the client to promote and implement a wide range of healthy activities in the workplace. PHIT will improve long-term employee health and contribute to improved relationships between organisation and employees, reduction in absence, increased morale, improved productivity and retention of staff. Improves the health of your company Enhances physical and mental well-being Reduce organisational stress Boost retention of staff Revitalise staff Improves productivity & performance
