2 The targets and contents International Summer School-SIS on Sustainable Management and Promotion of Territory-SMPT Recently, in September 2011, the Perugia University s Department of Agricultural Economics, Farm Appraisal and Food Sciences-DSEEA promoted an International Summer School-SIS entitled The Sustainable Management and Promotion of the Territory - SIS-SMPT ( whose the partners were the State Technical Agricultural College A. Ciuffelli of Todi, the Alumni Association, and the Local Municipality. The SIS in fact is part of a more extended project called A.M.A.R.- Associazione Mondiale di Amicizia delle Aree Rurali (World Friendship Association of Rural Areas). The Summer School aim is to improve a management method able to safeguard through the constant monitoring the development, the good quality of life, and the protection of environmental resources, especially landscape and biodiversity. There is the will to start and consolidate a mechanism that can make the country talk, by means of the use of the new ICT (Information Communication Technology). This is the direction of the processes of growth and innovation, aimed at safeguarding an internal sustainable development which is repeatable and transferable. In this sense, science must facilitate the removal of barriers, which often imprisoned and overshadowed the ancestral values of the ancient societies, not to be approached as if they belonged to a museum, rather with the revival and rediscovery spirit: a kind of science that awards property but also humanity. The growth of university research centers will characterize them, even more, as a window of consciousness together with their spirit of analysis, and the skills brought by all the autonomous self-decision-making people of the world society.

3 The keyword of the SIS- SMPT is TRADI-OVATION (for short) the acronym of Territory, Rural Areas, through Development, Innovation, Organization, Valorization, friendly user, Technology, ICT sharing, Online Networking. During the first Edition in 2011 the Charter of TODI was edited. The Charter invites everyone to take into account that the Charter of TODI and the town s initials T.O.D.I., are emblematic and of great significance to capture attention, according to the logic shown by a word quadrangle as follow. Territory holistic Dematerialization Invent Tradition Observation Digitalization Innovation Training Orientation Demostration ICT Tutoring Organization Development Internationalization The participation at the SIS-SMPT gives the opportunity for everyone from all the world to learn and touch directly the high level of theory and practice of the Strategy of Sustainable Development jointly to a positive atmosphere, history and culture of an area may inspire positive hope for the future of each area of the world.

6 B-VENUE The activity will be arranged at the Agricultural Citadel- State Technical Agricultural College A. Ciuffelli in Todi (IT) located in the center of Umbria Region, well known all over the world as the Green Heart of Italy. See the Google Map in closing. C-THE CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS The candidates can be citizens, no older than 45, from all countries of the World that have the following requirements: a-study certificate - PhD Graduates - PhD Students - Master Degree - Degree of 5 year or 3+2/4+1 following the Bologna Chart - Students attending the last year of a 5-year university course - Degree of 3 years or enrolled on the Professional Register - High School Diploma or enrolled on the Professional Register - Professional experience for more than one year at the National or Local Government involved in the field of Sustainable Management and Promotion of Territory b-languages the SIS-SMPT will be arranged in English Language (with the Italian entry-output translation); the favourite candidates must be English Speakers. c-fields of study certificate The preferable fields of the study certificate of the candidates are the following: - Agriculture (all fields and sectors); - Territory and Land Management (all fields and sectors); - Applied Economics (Management, Planning, Monitoring, Policy Choices, Policy Making, Marketing, Territorial Marketing, Tourism Economics); - ICT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Design, (GIS, DSS, CAD, etc.) - Environmental Economics and Environmental Management; - Architecture and Engineering - Sociology and Rural Sociology - Science of Communication

7 D- room, board and linked services supply The Organization can provide accommodation inside the Agricultural Citadel or in an Agro-tourism or Hotel or B&B in Todi or in the near surroundings. The Organization will provide also meals, class rooms, didactical materials and transfers and meals for the initial and final visit tours. The organization will arrange all supports for the participants from Todi -Terminal Bus or train station or from Perugia Airport and back to each site chosen for the accommodation during the Summer School. E-Tuition fee, accommodation and meals cost The tuition fee including the meals services at the Agricultural Citadel for each participant will be of 400 EUROS. For the participants that will choose also the sleeping room at the Agricultural Citadel the Full Board Total Cost will be 550 EUROS from 24 th August to 2 nd September For those will choose, in alternative, accommodation in the Agro-tourism, Hotel or B&B the tuition fee is the same 400 EUROS. For the accompanying person the cost for the sleeping room and meals at the Agricultural Citadel will be 300 EUROS. The Accompanying Person - AP with this total amount has right to participate the final visit tour. For those APs that are not guests at the Agricultural Citadel the Tuition Fee to participate at the extra-time didactical activities, including the final visit tour, will be 200 EUROS. The payment of the total amount must be effected by Bank Transfer to a Bank Account that will be communicated with the Final Registration Call. Those who apply for the pre- registration will receive this communication no later than 5 th July The deadline for the payment must be no later than 15 th August F-TRAVEL COSTS Travel costs from home to Todi and back will be in charge of each participant.

8 G-FELLOWSHIPS The organization will take into consideration the opportunity to offer no more than 10 fellowships concerning the total amount of tuition fee and also the support of travel for not more than 500 EUROS. The participants that would like to take the opportunity of the fellowship must send, jointly with the Pre-Registration Form, a short Curriculum Vitae (no more than one page) and a letter of motivation concerning the application to the Summer School. The awarding of fellowship will take place on the basis of the degree grade or of the average mark of a student career, the contents of the letter of motivation, the country of origin. With the same conditions it will be preferred candidates from developing countries or from pre-candidates or candidate countries of U.E The awarding of fellowship is irrevocable decision of the institutions that promote the Summer School. H-Number of participants The SS-SMPT will be arranged for no more than 50 people. Taking into account the special role in the organization of the Alumni Association of Agricultural College A. Ciuffelli in Todi, it will be possible for this Institution to select no more than 15 people that should participate as listeners with the symbolic payment of 100 EUROS. I-caution RigHTS and Reserve FOR the Organization The Organization claims the Caution Right and Reserve about the final decision to organize or not the Summer School no later than 5 July If by the 30 June 2012, as deadline for the Pre-Call and we don t receive a minimum of 25 applications, the same Organization will not organize the SIS-SMTP for this year. In any case, if all people apply for the Pre Call Registration they will receive the communication no later than 5 July The Organization, in this case, has the right to transform, for this year, the week activity of SIS-SMPT in a Conference of one day. In case that we are forced to change the first target, we will communicate the Conference Program no later than 5 th July 2012.
