1 HIGHER EDUCATION SERVICES LATIN AMERICA COMMITTEE 2015 CIS Brazil Tour December 2014 Dear Colleague: The CIS Latin America Committee is pleased to announce the fifth CIS recruitment tour to Brazil. The 2015 CIS Brazil Tour will take place March 9 19, The CIS Latin America Committee is composed of a group of experienced admission professionals who volunteer their time to plan and direct recruitment tours throughout Latin America. The collective experience of committee volunteers allows CIS to provide thoughtful, efficient, and professional recruitment opportunities in this region, including our tour to Brazil. This year s tour will include stops in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Campinas, and Brasilia, and will target national and international schools that traditionally send students to the United States for undergraduate education. An added bonus to this year s tour is a Counselor Fly-In Event during our time in Rio de Janeiro. We are pleased to engage the services of a professional tour operator from Wren & Fida International who will travel with us and provide logistical assistance throughout the tour. This will allow us to offer an exceptionally high level of service and support to tour participants before, during, and after the tour. Brazil is a vibrant country with a wonderful, welcoming and knowledgeable counseling community. After hosting the 2014 Work Cup, the country is continuing to build capacity to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In July 2011, the Brazilian President announced a new scholarship initiative Ciência sem Fronteiras, with a goal of sending 75,000 fully funded Brazilian students abroad for training in STEM fields, with an additional 25,000 scholarships expected to be funded by the private sector. IIE Open Doors lists Brazil as the 10 th country of origin for international students in the U.S., with 10,868 students, and second in Latin America after Mexico. These are just a few great reasons why it is a good time to be recruiting in Brazil. The application deadline is January 10, 2015 and a deposit of US$1000 is required with the application. The cost for the tour is US$11, (including deposit). 3 2015 CIS Brazil Tour Included Features Destinations: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Campinas, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo Transportation: Accommodations: Transfers: Orientation/ Debriefing: Meals: All flights will be coach/economy class. Flights begin in Sao Paulo and end in Brasilia. Eleven (11) nights at first class hotels, single rooms, taxes, breakfast and internet included. First night included on the tour is March 9 th and the last night included on the tour is March 19 th. Hotel list will be posted to the Wren & Fida International website. Included from airport to the hotel and vice versa, by private motor coach. All group transfers for school visits and college fairs are included. Mandatory orientation meeting in Sao Paulo and debriefing in Brasilia. Daily breakfast, opening dinner in Sao Paulo, and closing lunch in Brasilia are included. Gratuities & Taxes: All gratuities and taxes in connection with the Included Features are included. Airport and hotel porters, drivers and guides gratuities are all included. Airport departure taxes and entry fees are also included. Passports/Visas: The cost of the Brazilian visa, required for ALL U.S. Citizens, is NOT included in the price of the tour. A webpage with login and password will be provided on initial tour communication. Luggage tags, tour booklet, table signs and personalized name badge will be provided for all participants. A basic coverage policy is included for all participants. Information on schools to be visited on the tour and cultural background information on Brazil will be provided in advance. A CIS brochure with information about each participating institution will be provided to each school to share with prospective students and school counselors.

4 Excluded Features The following services/items are NOT included in the price of the tour: passport; passport photos; Brazil visa; rush visa fees; 2 nd passports; additional passport pages; excess or overweight luggage; meals not specified in the itinerary; telephone calls, laundry, valet service, room service, or any other items of a personal nature; and other service/items not specifically mentioned in the itinerary or under included features above. Note: Personal Travel insurance is NOT included, but is strongly recommended. Terms and Conditions Costs: CIS Brazil Tour 2015Land & Air Package - Starting in Sao Paulo and ending in Brasilia: US$11, Tour applications due: January 10, 2015 Deposit due to CIS: January 10, 2015 US$1, Tour Balance due to Wren & Fida International: January 23, 2015 US$10, Late Fee: 5% Terms and Conditions: Tour price is subject to change due to: revaluation of the U.S. dollar, fuel surcharges, government taxes, airport departure taxes, reciprocity taxes, entry visa fees, itinerary changes and all other items not in the control of Wren & Fida International. Registration/Payment: Your deposit of US$1,000, directed to CIS, must accompany the application form. Participants must meet the conditions for participation and application deadlines in order to be considered. If for any reason an institution cannot be accommodated, the tour deposit will be fully refunded. Payment for the balance of the tour costs will be due no later than January 23, Institutions will receive an invoice for tour costs and instructions for payment directly from Wren & Fida International. General Conditions for Participation: This CIS tour is a rigorous recruitment trip designed for full-time, campus-based international admission officers. Applicants must have at least two years of full-time professional admissions experience and preference is given to applicants with at least three years of professional admissions or related experience. Participants must take part in the entire tour due to group travel arrangements and advance publicity. Deviations from the tour itinerary are not permitted. Any substitution in traveler, after formal tour acceptance, must meet all criteria for participation. Any substitutions must be approved by the CIS Committee. No substitutions are allowed within 45 days of departure. Approved substitute travelers will pay a US$1000 change fee plus any additional tour expenses. No institution may send more than one representative, nor may any additional travelers accompany the tour participant. The tour will be limited to 30 participants plus the tour manager. Non-U.S. institutions are welcome on the 2015 CIS Brazil Tour; however U.S. institutions will have priority for participation. Participants must be prepared to make presentations on U.S. higher education and/or the college admissions process in general. They must also be familiar with the specific admission and financial aid policies of their own institutions, and be familiar with the concerns of international students.

5 Participants must adhere to the statements on ethical professional practice and behavior of the Council of International Schools and the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Due to space restrictions, we will be unable to permit any institutional floor displays at the college fairs. Promotional giveaways are also not permitted. Cancellations/Penalties: CIS will only accept written cancellations. Fees will be assessed for cancellations in the following manner: 2015 CIS Brazil Tour Date of Cancellation Refund Policy On or before Full refund of the total tour fee, including US$1,000 tour deposit. January 15, 2015 After January 15, % of the total tour fee is refundable, less the tour deposit of US$1,000 and any through February 9, 2015 unrecoverable tour expenses.
