1 Job Description Job Title: Senior Accountant/ Financial Analyst Reports to: Executive Director, Foundation FLSA Status: Exempt Level: 213 Position Class: Professional Staff Job Summary: This position is responsible for managing the overall fiscal operations of the Foundation for, Inc. including planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the financial and accounting activities of the Foundation. NOTE: Job descriptions and essential functions are subject to change due to advances in technology, utilization of work force, and other factors which may impact the College s need to modify position requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following listing of essential job duties indicates the general nature and level of work required in this job. This is not designed to be a comprehensive listing of all the activities, duties, or responsibilities that may be required in this job. Individuals assigned to this job may be asked to perform other duties as required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Manages cash flow requirements and reporting. 2. Manages tax and compliance requirements. 3. Serves as staff liaison to the Foundation Board, Asset Management Committee, Audit Committee, and Finance Committee. 4. Tracks and reports progress toward the annual goals. 5. Implements and maintains a system of internal controls and security over all financial transactions and assets. Follows standard accounting practices and procedures. 6. Works and coordinates directly with external auditors in the annual review, audit and 990 preparation, providing reports, data and assistance as needed. 7. Tracks contributions to be matched by corporations, foundations and the State of Florida and assures that all requirements for spending and reporting are met. Job Description (2015) Page 1 of 5
2 8. Works and coordinates with the Financial Aid and the Business Office, and Vice President s offices staffs to bill and pay awards, financial grants and scholarships in a timely manner. 9. Works and coordinates with the Scholarship Coordinator and Development Director to track all donations and expenditures to assure that all scholarships, enhancements and fundraising funds are being properly accounted for. 10. Maintains up-to-date records for all Foundation funds, i.e., Endowed Scholarships and Enhancements. 11. Works and coordinates with donors, prospective donors and staff regarding the criteria and financial aspects of their gifts. Job Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Bachelor s degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Five (5) years experience in the accounting or auditing field required, preferably within a Development/Foundation/Fundraising organization or equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory Experience: One or more years of experience as a lead employee, with responsibility for scheduling and assigning work, training new employees, and assisting others with problems. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstracts and concrete variables. Ability to work formulas, and graphs. 3 Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, report writing software, and non-profit accounting software (Financial Edge preferred). Working knowledge College , and internet software. Certificates and Licenses: Ability to be bonded through the Foundation s insurance policy. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP) are preferred but not required. A valid Florida driver s license. Responsibility for People and Property: No direct supervision required, but indirect working with other Foundation/College support staff, is essential and required. This position is responsible for all the accounting and financial affairs of the Foundation and may, but is not required to supervise one or more employees. Responsibility for Communication: Internal Contacts: This position has routine contact with College administrators, Department heads and their assistants. External Contacts: This position has routine contact with Members of the Foundation s Board of Directors, specifically, but not limited to the Chairman of the Board, the Treasurer, the Chair of the Asset Management Committee and its members, the Chair of the Audit committee and its members, the Chair of the Finance Committee and its members, the bank and investment company, benefactors, and vendors. This position has frequent contact with the Department of Education, tax attorneys, accountants, and auditors.
