JOB POSTING FY 15/16 NOVEMBER 16, 2015 NUISANCE ABATEMENT PROGRAM COORDINATOR #1995 BUILDING DEPARTMENT (CODE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION) This position is an Essential classification and will require you to report to duty before, during and after a civil emergency. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and completion of nuisance abatement cases. Work includes research, investigations, information gathering and the assembling of information for cases to be brought before city council. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Bachelor s Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Real Estate, Law, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible and / or comparable experience in the field of Business Management, Public Administration, Real Estate, Law, Para-legal, Codes, and / or Enforcement is required. A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of clean driving record. ADA PROFILE: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to work indoors in a business office typesetting and possible some outdoor field inspections if needed; use hands with dexterity to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must frequently stand, walk and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. LUCIE Position Description Job Title: Nuisance Abatement Program Coordinator Department: Building Department (Code Enforcement Division) Reports To: Business Tax Manager Job Code: 1995 Band: Technical Union Status: FOPE FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Prepared Date: March 19, 2012 Modification Date: This position is an Essential classification and will require you to report to duty after a hurricane or emergency. Summary Responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and completion of nuisance abatement cases. Work includes research, investigations, information gathering and the assembling of information for cases to be brought before city council. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Coordinate with staff and oversees the overall operation of the Nuisance Abatement program process. Attends City Council, Departmental, Divisional or other related meetings when requested or required. Assists and participates in the work flow of the Code Compliance staff in regards to code violations and cases being submitted to the Nuisance Abatement program process. Monitors and keep up to date with the HTE and the Innoprise software program for Nuisance Abatement cases as well as web based software programs utilized by the Legal Department for Nuisance Abatement Program processing. Prepares oral and written presentations of nuisance abatement cases. Assists in the development, coordination, implementation, investigation and follow up to its conclusion of nuisance abatement cases submitted through the Nuisance Abatement Program. Closely monitor and review for each case along with the monthly report from the Finance Department the Legal Department s Nuisance Abatement Program Budget and making recommendations or suggestions to improvements or possible budget amendments if needed or required. Conducts research and investigations to determine necessary facts and coordinates the proper steps needed and communicates with the desired departments to accomplish a task and complete the case file through its closing. Answers telephone calls and correspondence and provides current case status and information to persons inquiring. Maintains working knowledge of office equipment including: computers, fax machine, phone system and software programs. Assists in the Department s Nuisance Abatement Program process and the Standard Operating Procedures.

3 Reviews, updates, assists and monitors activities and programs requested by management, including updating the City s and Department s policies, and standard operating procedures required concerning the Nuisance Abatement Program process. Develops and maintains project management and monitoring records for each project and formulates written and oral progress reports. Interacts with various City Departments and concerns and issues by City Council or the City Manager s Office. Sets priorities and plans work activities and meets deadlines. Seeks prompt and efficient endings to all Nuisance Abatement Program Cases with satisfactory and reasonable expectations utilizing time management. May be required to work hours other than the standard work shift and field inspections and personal contact if needed and necessary to complete a case in an efficient and timely manner. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of clean driving record. Other Skills and Abilities Knowledge of investigative, coordination, research and development techniques. Ability to access input and retrieves information from a computer in various software applications. Ability to prepare written technical reports, estimates, critical path management and cost reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, consultants and City employees and officials.
