1 HVHS 2 nd Annual Performance Horse Ranch Rodeo Information & Entry Form May 15 th 9 a.m. Located at: Wasatch County Event Center Roping, Racing, Branding, & Sorting put your great horses to the TEST!! Heber Valley Horse Sales is presenting their 2 nd Annual Ranch Performance Horse Rodeo! There will be 2 All-Around Saddles given to the Open Horse & Sale Horse, Event Buckles & Prize Money up for Grabs. We are extremely excited about this event again since last year was a huge success. There will be Position Draws, Rodeo Judges, so you as the contestant will have every fair chance to WIN while having FUN competing. First off we want to thank everybody for reading this information. We hope you feel the same as we do. This event will be spectacular and you can take home some phenomenal awards. This event is an individual horse competition meaning, Your Horse that is entered in the all-around must be competed on in the 5 of the 6 events. It doesn t matter who rides the horse in the events. It is all about the horse and the horse gets the points. For those of you who are not wanting to enter the All-around you can ride different horses in the events that you enter. The events for the Ranch Performance Horse Rodeo includes, Reining Cowhorse, Ranch Branding, Heading, Heeling, Ranch Sorting & Barrel Racing *****NOTE TO ALL***** $35 dollars of your $50 dollar entry fee will go into the Pot for the pay out in each event. The other 15 will help pay for Stock & Rodeo Help *We will be paying out 4 places in all events & there will be an entry cut off at 50 horses per event *There will be $500-$1000 dollars added money in each event *It will be $50 dollars an event to enter *All Around points will be given to those placing in the Top Ten so 1 st place gets 10 points and 10 th place gets 1 point in each event.

There will be 2 All-Around Saddles given to the Open Horse & Sale Horse, Event Buckles & Prize Money up for Grabs. We are extremely excited about this event again since last year was a huge success.

2 Reining Cowhorse Event- This will be a JUDGED event. You will be judged on a simple reining pattern that will be posted on the website prior to the rodeo. It will consist of figure eights, stops & rollbacks. As soon as you are done with the reining pattern contestant must call for a cow. You will then have 50 seconds to box the cow at one end of the arena. Boxing meaning controlling the cow along the short fence. You will NOT take the cow down the fence. Ranch Branding- This event will require 2 helpers and it s a 3 man event. You will have 2 ropers and a mugger, but they do not need to pay an entry fee. This event will have a time limit and you have 3 minutes to complete it. The horse entered will head the calf first then partner will heel the calf. Both ropes must be on the calf before the mugger can leave the corner. Mugger will mug the calf move, the head rope to the 2 front feet, and the 2 back feet will remain the same, but it has to be on both back feet even if the heeler only ropes one leg. Then the mugger will run and get the brand and brand in the designated spot. You must do this on both calves and the ropers switch ends. The branding iron must be back in the branding pot before the clock stops. We promise this is possible we have seen it done many times in 3minutes Team Roping Heading- This event also requires a helper and again they do not have to pay an entry fee. This will be a one head event and will be run just like in a rodeo. Fastest time wins; there are 3 legal head catches, Horns, Neck & Half of a head. An official rodeo judge will be flagging, so it will be fair for all and you will be flagged out if your heeler crossfire s. You must turn and face, but we are allowing heelers to be tied on. This will be a barrel roping and if you rope before the barrel you will receive a 10 second penalty Team Roping Heeling- This event also requires a helper and again they do not have to pay an entry fee. This will be a one head event and will be run just like in a rodeo. Fastest time wins; an official rodeo judge will be flagging so it will be fair. If you have a crossfire you will be flagged out, but Heelers you can tie on.

3 Ranch Sorting- This will be a 2 man team. Contestant will pick his partner like in the team roping, the partner does not have to pay an entry fee. They ll be 2 round pens set up in the small arena with an 8ft opening in the middle head of cattle will be placed in one end of the 2 round pens. Contestants will start in the opening. Time will begin when you move into the pen with cattle. Youll be given 2 numbers at the start of your run. You will then have to move into the herd and sort out those 2 numbers of cattle to the other round pen through the opening. Your partner mans the opening, he can move forward or backwards depending on contestant s instructions. The partner cannot disturb the herd. They will be on horseback. Time will stop when both cattle are in the opposite round pen and the contestant passes through the opening. Barrel Racing- We will be having a 4D Barrel Race which means the fastest time in the 1D, 2D, 3D & 4D will get a check. This will be a timed event and we will have automatic timers and back up timers. It will be a full clover leaf pattern and we will have it marked before the Ranch Performance Horse Rodeo Starts. For your information the 1d is the fastest time the 2d is a half second off the 1d time and the 3d is a full second off the 1d time. 4D will be a second and a half off the 1D time. We wanted to incorporate any barrel racer that would like to compete.
