If you re unable to send using your regular application, BT Openzone have a service that you can use. You ll simply need to make a temporary change to your application settings. Sending via webmail isn t affected by this issue - you can use webmail in the usual way. application settings The BT Openzone service works by providing a mail server that you can use instead of your ISP s server. To use it, you simply need to replace the ISP outgoing mail server address (sending SMTP) with the BT Openzone server address. When you ve finished sending and before the next time you connect to your usual ISP account, you ll need to change the address back to its original setting, so please remember to make a note of it before you replace it with the BT Openzone server address. Changing your Mail Server Address The usual method for sending mail can be summed up as follows: 1. in your application, find the place where the SMTP mail server address is held 2. make a note of the existing address 3. change it to smtp.btopenzone.com and save your changes 4. send from your ISP account while you re in the BT Openzone hotspot 5. when you ve finished sending mail in the hotspot, change the SMTP address back to its original setting The following sections give you more detailed help and instructions for some of the commonly used applications.

Highlight it by clicking on the name and then select Change 6. on the right-hand side of the next window are the boxes for the server names. Make a note of your old SMTP server name so that you can restore your old settings, and then replace this name with that of the BT Openzone server, smtp.btopenzone.com 7. with this done, click Next, then Finish. You ll be returned to a window with the Mail Services tab still displayed, click OK you connect to your usual ISP, repeat the process to restore the address you noted in Step 6 above.

Make a note of your old SMTP server name so that you can restore your old settings, and then replace this name with that of the BT Openzone server, smtp.

4 Outlook open Outlook Click on Tools from the menu bar and choose Accounts. This will display the Internet Accounts box Now click on the Mail tab and you ll see your mail accounts listed. If you ve more than one mail account, click on the one you want to use to highlight it 2. click the Properties button to the right of the box which will bring up the Properties box. Click on the Servers tab. This will show you the server addresses for your incoming and outgoing mail 3. make a note of the address in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box. You ll need this later to restore your settings 4. type the address of the BT Openzone server, smtp.btopenzone.com in this box 5. click on OK then Close you connect to your usual ISP, repeat the process to restore the address you noted in Step 4 above.

6 Netscape open Netscape Messenger and on the menu bar at the top of the screen click on Window, then choose Mail & Newsgroups. This brings up the following screen 2. from the menu under the section marked Accounts on the right of this window, choose View Settings for this account 3. now doubleclick on Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left-hand pane of page. This will take you to the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Screen

7 Netscape 7.0 continued 4. make a note of the entry in the box titled Server Name before deleting it, as this will be needed to restore your settings later 5. in this now empty box enter the name of the BT Openzone Server smtp.btopenzone.com 6. click OK at the bottom of the box once this has been done connecting to your usual ISP repeat the process to restore the address you noted in Step 4 above.

8 Netscape open Netscape Messenger and on the menu bar at the top of the screen click on Edit, then choose Preferences from the drop-down menu 2. from the menu on the left of the new window that opens choose Mail Servers 3. the contents of the screen will change. Make a note of the entry in the box titled Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server on the right before deleting it, as this will be needed to restore your settings later 4. in this now empty box enter the name of the BT Openzone Server smtp.btopenzone.com 5. click OK at the bottom of the box once this has been done connecting to your usual ISP, repeat the process to restore the address you noted in Step 3 above
