Livingston Avenue between the YMCA and the Town Hall, Livingston Skate Park is a skate at your own risk facility, designed for skate boarding, inline skating and BMX biking. Individuals must register and obtain a badge from Senior, Youth & Leisure Services (SYLS). 3 3 Community Pass! enior, Youth and Leisure Services (SYLS) is proud to offer S Livingston residents the ability to register for programs online through Community Pass. This one-stop shopping allows residents to create a family account to sign up for SYLS programs including, preschool, youth and teen programs, sports, camps, LYCS leaders program, adult fitness and senior programming. Credit cards (MasterCard and Visa) will be processed both in person at our counter and online at Community Pass. The process of online registration is in keeping with our continual efforts to improve program administration and reduce costs while maintaining quality leisure activities for the whole family. Once an account has been created on Community Pass, residents will be able to update their information and print out receipts without leaving the comfort of their home. The jitney operates Monday thru Friday, with departures approximately every 30 minutes, from 6:00 am 9:15 am and from 4:00 pm 8:39 pm. The fare is $2.00 each way which is purchased on the shuttle. Exact change is required. Credit cards and check are not accepted for single fares. Monthly, discounted passes are available for $70.00 and can be obtained online at SHUTTLE PICK UP AND DROP OFF: Livingston: Livingston Mall, Parking Lot 18, near the Walnut Street entrance, behind Macy s and close to two active bus shelters. 4 4 GENERAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION INFORMATION DISCLAIMER Although every effort will be made to provide correct information in this guide, errors or omissions may occur. Information received in the Senior, Youth and Leisure Services Office will override this document. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS Registration for preschool and youth programs is limited to Livingston Residents only, Some senior and adult programs allow non-resident registration. Please read all descriptions carefully. REGISTER ONLINE! Visit click on link to Senior, Youth and Leisure Services, follow instructions in Community Pass. REGISTER IN PERSON Visit Senior, Youth and Leisure Services (SYLS) during regular business hours, Monday Friday, 8:30AM 4:30PM. Check the township website, for updates regarding additional hours for pool registrations. For most programs, individuals may register for only ONE family other than their own. Please read all program information for complete details. The appropriate registration form and all emergency and release forms must be signed by the parent or guardian of participants under 18 years of age. Program participants are to bring a copy of the registration receipt to the first class or program session as proof of registration. Participant signatures are required for all adult programs. REGISTER BY MAIL Send complete registration form and payment in the form of a check or money order payable to Township of Livingston to: Senior, Youth & Leisure Services, 204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston NJ Credit card payments are not accepted for mail in registrations. Mailed registrations will be processed at 12PM on the first day of registration. In the event your selected program or programs are filled, you will be contacted and your check will be returned to you. Livingston Township, NJ TAX ID The Township Tax Identification Number: Please save your program receipts for tax purposes. Copies may be obtained at the township offices, but may require up to five (5) business days to process. PAYMENT OPTIONS Payment in the form of cash, check, money order or credit cards (Master Card and Visa) is acceptable. Credit card payments are not accepted for mail in registrations. Please make checks payable to Township of Livingston. A $20.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks. Volunteer Opportunities Available Shadow Positions If you or someone you know would like to volunteer time to help a child with special needs, please contact Senior, Youth & Leisure Services. After school and evening hours are available as well as Saturday from 9 am 12 pm for our new Shining Star Sports League. Senior Transportation Program Volunteer Van Driver Do you enjoy driving and helping others? If so, please contact Liliana Branquinho at the SYLS (973) office regarding further information on becoming a volunteer van driver for the township s senior/disabled transportation program. 5 5 POLICIES & PROCEDURES REFUND POLICY Program fees will not be refunded to your credit card account. Programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met. Participants will receive a credit back to the family account to be used for future registrations or a full refund with no administrative fee will be issued in the form of a check. Refunds may also be given if the space is filled from a waiting list, a medical excuse can be verified or the family or participant is moving from the area. Fees will not be prorated for those registering after a program has started. No makeup or substitution of classes missed, unless cancellation by SYLS and make up session is scheduled. Refunds for the above reasons may be charged a $10.00 administrative fee. Any approved refunds given after the program has begun will be prorated. Please allow a minimum of 30 days for refund processing. RESIDENT/NON-RESIDENT REQUIREMENTS Residency is required for all preschool, youth, senior transportation and most aquatic programs. To receive resident rates, Livingston residents are required to present identification such as a valid driver s license, photo ID card or utility bill. Non-residents may register for select adult and senior programs at a higher rate than residents. Non-resident registration will open one (1) week after resident registration opens. Resident rates are indicated by (R) and non-resident rates by (NR) following the fee. If no delineation of resident or nonresident fee is made, the program is open to residents only. Please refer to the Sports Adults section for detailed information on residency requirements for sports activities. INSURANCE The Senior, Youth & Leisure Services does not carry accident insurance. We strongly recommend that all participants be covered by personal or family insurance. INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY If Livingston Public Schools (LPS) are cancelled, SYLS programs beginning before 3PM will be cancelled (this may not apply to Adult and Senior programs). Programs beginning after 3PM will be addressed by 2PM that day. Messages are posted on LPS website, LPS closing line, , select "8", SYLS website, For delayed openings, all programs will meet as scheduled unless weather conditions deteriorate during the day. Messages will be posted on SYLS website, For early dismissals, all evening activities, including all open play programs, are cancelled. Saturday & Sunday programs will be decided by 9AM that day and/or throughout the day as needed. Messages will be posted on SYLS website, Special events and/or school break programs will be handled on an as needed basis. Youth & Adult Sports Programs If Livingston schools are cancelled or dismissed early, all activities held in the evening in school facilities are cancelled. Severe weather arising during the day will be addressed at 3PM. Saturday & Sunday programs will be decided by 9AM that day and/or throughout the day as needed. All information regarding weather cancellations will be put on the Sports Update Line. Please check the line after the times listed above for the most up-to-date information. 6 6 P.S. Specialty Classes (Registration begins Monday, August 17) CHILD & CAREGIVER CLASSES DOB: 10/01/13-09/30/14 Shake Your Sillies Out We ll dance, jump, wiggle & sing in this fun program. Using familiar nursery rhymes and games mixed with some new, special music, we ll learn body awareness, basic directions and have a lot of fun! DOB: 10/01/10-09/30/12 Lunch Bunch is a recreation program designed to transition 3 & 4 year-old preschoolers into an afternoon of learning and fun. The program runs five days a week, Monday through Friday. Children will be taken from Lunch Bunch to afternoon classes where enrolled. You provide the lunch, we ll provide the fun! Through stories, crafts and games children will learn about dinosaurs big and small. This class will be a real adventure! This beginning science class will experiment with gooey things, furry things, many legged things and much more! This class will introduce your child to listening to stories, singing and will help your child extend his/her attention span. Together we can have fun learning! Rest time will be from 12:15-12:45PM with afternoon classes beginning at 1:00PM. *Please provide a crib sized sheet & blanket with a small pillow for your child. Children who leave at 12:30pm and do not attend afternoon classes will have song/story time from 12:15 12:30PM.

10 10 Youth Programs (Registration begins Monday, August 17) Grade(s) 1-4 Crunch & Munch Explore the world of creative cooking through mindful and innovative recipes custom tailored to cater to even the pickiest eaters! Children will learn to slice, dice, mash, measure and pour as they mix up their very own healthy meals from start to finish. Original recipe books will be created and distributed at the end of each session. All delicious and nutritious ingredients are provided by Whole Foods. Limit: 10 participants Instructor: Crystal Martucci Location: LSCC Kitchen W 5:00-6:00 PM 9/9-12/16 R: $ No class: 9/23, 11/25 NR: $ Grades: 5-8 Flour Power These exciting, hands-on culinary classes are a great way to engage students in healthy, fun food from scratch, all while building kitchen confidence at a more complex, exacting level of performance; where their motor and thinking skills are challenged. Each week highlights key skills that will be practiced and reinforced throughout the curriculum. Let the culinary extravaganza begin! From chemistry, to magnets, to rainbows children will discover how science can help us to better understand the world around us Limit: 10 participants Instructor: Crystal Martucci Location: LSCC 1st floor F 4:15-5:15 PM 9/18-12/18 R: $105 No class: 9/11, 11/6, 11/27 NR: $129 Advanced Yoga Ages 8-13 years For children who have taken yoga for 2 or more years. Advanced practices: they are able and interested in arm balances and back bends. First class will be a pre-view class to determine eligibility. *Please bring a yoga mat. Annual Dance Recital The annual dance and Baton Recital is usually held the second Saturday in June. The recital is a ticketed event that will showcase performances from each class. The schedule during recital week will include up to two extra afternoon practices. Participation in these rehearsals is mandatory. Detailed information about the rehearsal and recital schedule is released each year in April. Ticket information is also released in April. Costumes for recital are provided by Senior, Youth and Leisure Services and the cost is included in your registration fee. 20 20 LIVINGSTON YOUTH & COMMUNITY SERVICES (LYCS) Character, Responsibility, Empowerment Preparing students for tomorrow s challenges LYCS is a community-based, after-school program that provides leadership training, health life choices, and substance abuse prevention education to grades Since this is a leadership program, students are expected to follow a behavioral agreement. Our program is designed to: Teach Livingston's youth about making healthy life choices, and the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in a fun educational way. Train the leaders and provide opportunities to practice leadership skills by participating in community service activities. Provide opportunities for Livingston youth to engage in healthy social interactions. Build stronger families through workshops and programs.
