1 Class Rules Parents MUST attend the first lesson of the year for rules, registration, studio calendar, and ordering of shoes, etc. We will be ordering the same shoes for everyone this year. Please do not order on your own. We want to make sure all the shoes are the same. You must make sure that we have your at this time as this is how we will be contacting you for the studio information. Parents MUST READ their s from us. A lot of questions last year, could have been answered by thoroughly reading the s. We do not send spam mail. Every we send has important information in it. We also will put information in the hallways and tell the students about any news at the studio. We will try to reach everyone via these three routes. Also be sure to like our facebook page for updates. Running in the dance studio, the hallway, and around the stairs is prohibited. No food or drink is allowed in the studio or studio hallway except for water. Chewing gum during class is prohibited. Students should use the bathroom before their lesson, so to avoid any distractions during the lesson. Please also be respectful of the restroom. Parents are not allowed in the studio to view students except for the 1 st week of lessons and about a month before the recital. This is also to not cause any distractions for the students. Parents may wait during the student s lesson in the waiting area. Parents must arrive promptly to drop off the students and must arrive promptly to pick up the students. The instructor is not a babysitter and is only responsible for the child during the class itself and because the classes run back to back, the instructor will not have time to watch a child if a parent is late picking them up. There will be a mandatory parent meeting and about a month before the recitals where the instructor will explain what is expected from the parents during the recital and what will be needed as far as accessories, hair, tights, etc for the children s costumes. CHOREOGRAPHY POLICY Explicit copyright protection for choreography is a relatively new law. However, what this means, is that you or your child are not permitted to teach any of our studio choreography. (ex. Children are not allowed to teach their routines to others who are not in dance and then use these routines.)

2 Dance Wear Students must wear appropriate attire for all classes. This includes exercise pants, tank tops or t shirts, leotards, and tights, shoes, etc. Jazz or ballet shoes should always be put on first before the child enters the ballroom before the lesson. We will wear these for the warm up. At no time are jeans allowed for the students to wear to dance in. These do not allow for flexibility and often hang over the dance shoes which can result in injury or ripped pants. Shoe styles, color, and costs will vary depending on the class and the numbers they will be performing. There will be a mass order in the beginning of the year, so that we can keep the cost very minimum. If your child has shoes from a prior year that still fit and are the color we want, they may use those shoes. You may also find someone in the studio to exchange shoes with or purchase them from. The specifics on these shoes will be given on the first day of class when parents are present as the students will also be trying on the shoes at this day. Do not wear jewelry during class Write your child s name on any tags and in their dance shoes to avoid them being lost or taken by another child with the same size. Lesson Attendance It is very important that your child attends every lesson possible. Missed lessons do not affect the tuition cost in any way and you will not be reimbursed for any missed lessons. I hope this encourages you to make every effort possible to get your child to their classes. Any absence of your child does not only affect their progress, but the progress of the entire class. We, as the instructors, do have the authority to pull your child from the end of the year recital if they have missed too many classes and are not prepared for the recitals. In cases of inclement weather, we will send a mass to parents and will announce it over WGLR. These days will be made up at the teacher s convenience so that we do not lose any lesson time. There will be no dance lessons during the Holiday and Spring break according to the Lancaster School Schedule. Studio Parking Policy There is parking located on the square and also behind MaCandi s Boutique. However, students must always enter through the front entrance to the studio. Please be careful and cautionary, especially when it s slippery during the winter, coming up the stairs. TUITION Tuition will be done slightly different this year. We will be totaling up the amount due for each semester and then dividing it by the number of months in that semester so

3 that all monthly payments will be the exact same in that semester. This will save time in the beginning of classes. Again, every monthly payment will be the same and will be determined by Justin and I at the beginning of each semester based on lessons being taken. There will be a discount for lessons paid in full with CASH. Tuition is due on the first lesson of every month in either check or cash form. For instance, if there are four Mondays in that moth and you have two children who take one group class a week, you would pay (2 children discount of $8/lesson x 2= $16 x 4weeks= $64. Please write the checks out to Gotta Dance Academy of Performing Arts, LLC. There will be a $25 charge for any returned checks. After this occurrence, only cash will be accepted. There are no refunds for tuition, tickets, or costume costs. You will be asked to cover the cost of your childs costumes before your child will be allowed to take the costume home. Costumes can range in cost anywhere from $25 $70 per costume. This year, however, we are charging the costume cost by adding it to the monthly tuition. This will allow for us to receive payment before we order costumes and allow for you to only be charged $15/ month/ child for these costumes rather than a large lump sum in January. (ex. If you have one child, you will be charged an extra $15/ month for their costume, so total tuition cost for that month would be the lessons ($40) + costumes ($15)= $55 for the monthly total.) This will occur for every month of the dance year. If costumes are less, you will be refunded. If they are more, there will be an additional amount charged in January. We will charge the additional shipping and handling tax on the costumes. Each class will require one or two costumes for the recital. Again, missing class does not affect tuition. NO refunds will be given for costumes or lessons. We are not responsible for altering the costumes due to the growth of your child once measurements are taken. Lesson Cost: Any children s group class: 1 child = $10/ lesson 2 children = $9.50/ lesson * 2 children = $19/ week 3 children = $ 9/ lesson * 3 children = $27/ week 4 children = $ 8.5/ lesson * 4 children = $34/ week Any children s Ballroom/ Latin dancing private lessons: Couple = $26/ lesson Single (dancing with the instructor non lifts) = $22/ lesson Single (dancing with Justin including acrobatic lifts) = $26/ lesson Any children s Ballroom/ Latin dancing group lessons:

4 *same as children s group lesson pricing as long as there are 4 or more students in class Any children s private solo dance lesson: (must have had at least 3 years dance and be 10 or older, unless decided by instructor. Please realize that we are very limited in solos.) All soloists under 15 will be limited to one solo at the spring recital to focus on quality of dance 1 child = $20/ lesson Duet dance lessons= $26/ lesson (same as couple s ballroom rate) Any Adult Social Dancing Private (Ballroom/ Latin) or Wedding Classes (45 minute lessons): $26/ couple or individual Group Adult Social Dancing Class Rate: $16/ couple Any Adult group Zumba, Core Training, Circuit Training classes: $7/ lesson Group Voice Lessons (2 5 students)(45 minutes): $16/ lesson/ child Solo Voice Lesson (1 child) (45 minutes): $22/ lesson/ child *all solo vocalists under 12 will be limited to one solo at spring recital to focus on vocal quality *sheet music, transposition, and karaoke music is now included in solo voice lesson tuition cost listed above. Booster Classes (30 minutes) $7/ class Recital Videos and Photos We will also have someone tape the shows this year. This year there will be a holiday recital, as well as a spring recital. The location of both recitals is the Hillery Auditorium. The dates TBA based on Brandi and Justin s other work schedules and the Auditorium availabilities. Due to the high cost of a recital (renting space, hiring sound and light technicians, hiring a janitor, purchasing decorations, paying for a stage crew, purchasing a back drop, we are charging admission to the performances. Admission to the recital is by ticket only. Gotta Dance will be selling tickets starting a few weeks before the recital and at dress rehearsal. NO refunds for tickets. Photographs are not allowed during the performance. This can be very distracting to the students and could even result in harm to the students. There will, however, be a professional

5 photographer who will take pictures closer to the end of the year. The date and time is TBA but will correspond with the dress rehearsal for the recital. Do remember that we will try to get back to you as soon as possible, but we both have other jobs so it may be best to reach us on the weekends. Competitions, Conventions, etc. Brandi and Justin are both certified instructors and are members of NDCA, the National Dance Council of America and do encourage students to participate in competitions and conventions. If we feel that a student or class is ready for a competition, we will discuss this with you. We will also be giving out information about different dance conventions throughout the year. These conventions enhance a students abilities in dance greatly, as the students get a chance to work with choreographers, judges, and performers from many different genres and from all over the country. Parent and Student Agreement I, (parent) have read and agree to follow the guidelines set forth by Gotta Dance in the Gotta Dance Student Handbook.
